So last night I only mananged to espress 40mls, I stopped cause it was just not going anywhere! I got my periods and I wonder if that has caused a drop in my milk supply, my boobs don't feel as hard and full as usual.

I am going to try the espressing next week again once my periods are finished and will see how that goes.

Enchanted I agree fully. It seems as if they feed non stop to begin with, but they settle down when their tummies can take more.

Julz, thanx for the advice. I spoke to hubby about it last night and we have both come to the agreement that we should not mess with a good thing so it will just be breastmilk until I have to go to work again.

I can also say, after I was not sucsessful in feeding Micayla, I exclusively breastfed my other kids - my adivice would be NOT to watch the clock. Feed on demand, not according to a time schedule. Let baby decide how long to drink, don't let him have just 15 minutes on a side like the hospital told me.

The best advice I can give is to find a great clinic and go every week for the first month or two. As long a baby is picking up weight then you have enough milk. It just gives you peace of mind. Without our clinic I would have given up long before. Dylan is 17 months as I still have milk. I stopped feeding him at 9 months.

Hi Dee
I'm also breastfeeding and giving formula as well - and my little one is also hungry after both boobs. She's already five weeks old and I just can't seem to exclusively breastfeed - 20 mins after feeding on both boobs she's hungry again.
I've tried everything from jungle juice (let me know if you want the recipe) to brewer's yeast and am now on eglonyl, although I haven't renewed the prescription because i'm a bit scared of it. I'm trying to breastfeed more in a bid to up the production. Let me know how you're doing - it's nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem :)
