Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

Hi there, my kiddie doesn't go to school yet, so its easy for me to do the cloth the whole day. But when he goes somewhere I send a small bucket with lid with for the dirty nappies. No one has had a problem with it so far. I bought 3 little buckets at plastic warehouse for like R10 each, and i keep one in the car when we go on trips.

Hi ladies, how was your weekend? Mine was great, just struggling to get the MN nappies dry. Had to Tumble-dry again yesterday as they were sopping wet even after hanging in the sun from 8am to 5pm.

HeleneS you should definately be sending the nappies to school otherwise the whole excercise doesn't really make financial or "eco" sense because you use far more disposables during the day than at night. I also went to see my School explained who would be doing the cleaning (That they just sent the dirtly nappies (the liner and poo flushed down the toilet) in the Wet bag and then I wash it at home, dry it and bring it back with a new liner ready inside. I have done this with the mothernature and the plain Glodina squares that I ready folded with liners in so no folding was needed on their part. The lady that looks after my Son was so happy when I showed her the towelling squares (I don't think she could beleive that us "Good earners/White Collar workers" would use the same nappies they do with their kids out of necessity. I think it totally amazed her and she was like (Oh now I can show her how it's done!) It was very sweet. She is very good and changes my son regularly because she knows leaving it on too long will cause a rash.

I Send the wet bag with a nappy liner witha few drops of Tea Trea oil on inside the wet bag and that takes care of any bad smells. When I get home I rinse the poo nappies off with the handshower and then they all go straight to the washing machine. I usually put them in the tumble dryer for a while and leave then to hand dry overnight and pack them in the bag in the morinig. Just remember to send enough to school. I send about 5 in the bag and one on his bum in the morning with 3 extra waterproofs incase.

Helene, i would also send him to school with the cloth nappies, thats the only way you are actually going to make a difference isnt it? otherwise you are only going to use the nappies at night or on weekends.
Discuss it with the school, it cant be that much more work and even if it is, you are paying for their service?!!!
Remember, he is almost going to potty train so just a few more months then this is finished for him and the school will be rid of his cloth nappies LOL

I must say, my LB's 'nanny' was very on board with the change to cloth and she doesnt worry or moan one bit about it. Seems as if she is enjoying it LOL (give her a few months)!

About sending cloth nappies to school, I send my son in his. I discussed it with the school before hand and showed them how to use them and they had no problem with it at all.

The best is getting flushable liners so that if there is a poo they can just flush it and put the dirty nappy in a wet bag for you to deal with at home. I then give them a rinse if they are soiled (or even a quick scrub if they are really bad) and into the wash.
It is then easy for the caregivers and no extra work than a disposable.
