Someone must be reading my mind... I was just going to ask the same questions...
We started off with a clip-on chair as we were staying with my Mom on returning from overseas. It was great! mine is simple, from Game, R150.
When we moved back into our house, I bought a second hand high chair for R150 from a friend, kind of old fashioned, and SJ is probably the 3rd child to use it.
Cons about high chair: LG manouvres out of the straps, ideally, if I could have choosen and afforded it, I would have bought one with straps like the carseat where the straps come over the shoulders. But my girl is tiny, now only 7ks at 1 year, so maybe she is just too small. She manages to stand up in it, and that just scares me!
So now.... for the last 2 months, I feed her on a mat/quilt in either the lounge or kitchen, is this a bad habit? When we sit at the table as a family, she sits in her high chair and is quite good while she eats. But I am not always able to sit with her, and sometimes she is a bit picky, so I leave her.
As soon as she is bigger and able to sit in a proper kiddies chair, I will let her sit at a little table and chair, but until then, AM I DOING WRONG WITH HER SITTING ON THE FLOOR?
I insist that she sits "on her bum" and she is very good at this although she sometimes is a bit distracted and comes and goes. She is starting to want to stand and eat (at the coffee table). is there anything wrong with all of this? The latest is going onto her tummy and eating from her plate like a doggy (we dont have dogs for her to have learnt from!) I feel its just her way of learning what she can do!
We have good routine and manners in other aspects, like at a restaurant, I dont allow shouting, and in her pram she is mostly calm and content. She sits beautifully when we are at a table or in a restaurant in either a highchair or table chair. So personally, I dont think I am doing too much wrong. Any comments?
If it is bad to let her sit on the floor, what do I do? She will just manourve out of the belts in the chair and stand up! THen a struggle starts...
