file Feeding your baby BLW style

BLW or Baby Led Weaning - strange name because in the beginning it has absolutely nothing to do with Weaning!

I'm starting this thread for all mommies who are thinking of starting their baby on solids, have already started and feel helpless or if your little one is like my girl who ate pureed food beautifully for a couple of weeks and now doesn't want to open her mouth the moment she sees a spoon heading her way.

If you feel that this way of introducing solids isn't for you - no big deal. I know it's messy, which is possibly the worst part about it. But seeing your baby - who seems unable to do much without your help - be able to feed him/herself is a great reward and I promise you it makes the mess a pleasure to clean up. (I'll ask one of the other mommies to start a thread on feeding purees so you can see both sides)

I started feeding my LG 'solids' (pureed veggies and/or cereal) when she was a few days shy of 4 months (something I regret) and it has never gone very well. Mealtimes were a battle and very unrewarding for all the effort she never ate more than a teaspoon full. I felt like I was failing in the feeding department.

Without the strength and encouragement from a new friend who also does BLW, I possibly would have been too afraid to try it on my own. That's why I want to be here for anyone who would like to give it a try, as a support or just to give you all the information needed.
