Claudia, please can you tell me the make of the cup, or perhaps put a picture up? It sounds great!

We have done so well on the BLW and feeding but I must admit I have been lazy with drinking from a cup! Sarah drinks beautifully from a cup with a straw but she still has her tea in a bottle. Its one fight I am not rady for yet. She doesnt drink milk anymore - weaned herself from her milk bottle but still has tea in a bottle. Perhaps I could try this cup for her tea.

I give him water with a normal perspex cup at meals, which he is gettin the hang of now, but I must say I do help because I was tired of mopping up wet floors:), but I keep a cup that I got from bBYCITY in my bag for when we are out (I made the decidion that I would only give water until he is at least one, and then would review the situation...) The cup is great, you dink out of it like a normal cup (it doesnt have a spout) around the rim, but it has a seal to prevent spillage!

Please tell me - the sippy cup from Baby City, I've seen them before and thought about getting one. Just 1 question - does the water come out like in a normal cup or do they have to suck like in a sippy cup? I need something for when we are out and don't really want her throwing water all over the floor :D

@ Claudia_B - I enjoyed reading that link. As a nanny / aupair I've worked for many families, 90% of whom are bottle feeding from 3 or 4 months if not earlier and often I was in the unfortunate position of being told that baby HAD to finish the bottle. We read in so many book that when baby is over-stimulated that they will turn their heads away etc. If we believe babies to be clever enough to do that, then why do we think that they are not clever enough to know when their own tummies are full? I often read the backs of formula tins. According to most a 6 month old baby should be drinking about 5 250ml bottles every day AND they should be having solids (which are usually cereals). My nearly 6 month old nurses every 2 - 3 hours and I know that she only takes in maybe 100ml each time. I know this because on the odd occasion that I express and botte feed, this is how much she takes in and not in one sitting either, over a period of about 10 minutes with several breaks. And yet, I am told that my baby is underweight and should be on top-up formula and spoon-fed solids BUT she wears 6-12 month clothes already and is growing VERY well just on breastmilk and BLW :D

I second the thng about empty calories in cereal, which is why I tend to stick to the homemade meusli for breakfast, with the pronutro as a quick standby ( I love it:))
In fact since doing baby led weaning I'm now involved in a number of groupds on facebook etc about natural parenting (where most do BLW), and one thing that I came across is Dr Greene's White out campaign. Hes an american paediatrician that is trying to stop white rice cereal being the first food, because its essentially a refined carbohydrate (so sugar really). He has some awesome whole grain recipes on his website. I now tell people who are determined to go the rice cereal route to rather use ollie because its made with brown rice:(

Anyway I thought this was an interesting link which advocates for using BLW if anyone wants to read it:

Thanks Sarah.

I was worried that as big as he is now, he will get bigger when he starts eating solids.

Cereals are more likely to put on weight. I would rather give veg or nothing than cereals because commercial cereals have a lot of 'empty' calories and sugar in them. But if you want to give cereals then you can :) There's no rule saying you have to start with cereal.

@ MommyN - thanks! I enjoyed reading that :D I know 1yr olds can be messy, was just wondering how B was doing :)
