how long did you breastfeed for?

hi mommies,

My LG is 5 months an i'm still breasdfeeding, i'm hoping to feed till she is a year or even 2 years

she is enjoying latching from mommy and she doesnt wan thr bottle at ll, i've tried getting her the AVENT bottle but still i change the formula to the Nan - Pearlagon one but still it was the same, so i just use Nan formula for her food.

i'm only breasdfeeding her in the mornings and inthe afternoon after work. and also on wknds she wants to lacth every 20 mins, so u can imagine how many time i have to eat

anothe thing is think it's good as formulas are expensive.

@ beatrice, Really? I'm thinking if you were feeling guilty, then you are officially off the hook! Breastfeeding is DEFS a huge gift.

Oeee I agree, 6 months maternity leave - hell yes!

I also never expected to bf beyond six months. I recall my husband even saying before baby was born "You are not going to be one of those moms breastfeeding forever" - now he's the one saying "Don't buy formula for the house 'just in case' " LOL

I've often thought though that maybe me and many of my new mommy friends are breastfeeding for so long to compensate on some subconscious level for the fact that we didn't have natural births, I don't know. But it is great any way

Yup, I couldn't even BF in the lounge! Always had to be in his room with the curtains closed otherwise he would get too distracted! He started pulling off the blanket I used to cover-up with in public at 2 months! So I always bf'd in the car if we were out. I got those window sox so that no-one could see what we were up to.

I agree that dad's should get longer paternity leave. We're busy ttc # 2 and I'm making DH save up his leave so he can be home for 2 weeks. Will def need all hands on!

Jude does not let me do anything whilst bf'ing.. he'll totally go for the book and dont get me started on the computer! lol

Claudia for president!!! Yeah for 6 months maternity leave! And can we add to that 12 weeks for the dads? Whats up with 3 days paternity leave, what can they do in 3 days? Mommy needs them for those first 3 months!

But to get back to the point... I BF my son for 9 months, then I found out that I was pregnant again and didn't have the energy to carry on. I wanted to bf for the first year at least, but for us bf was a struggle. Stefan had reflux and he didn't outgrow it, he still has reflux at 19 months. I almost gave up bfing at 12 weeks when he started to fight with me about feeds and I felt he was rejecting me. It felt so horrible to be a mommy and have rejection issues! But my mom saved me and helped me push through.

With my lg I am enjoing it much more and this time I am setting my sites on 2 years, hoping that if I double the planned time, the actual time will at least be double as well...

She takes a bottle (expressed milk) easily and I am planning on expressing when I go back to work next month.
