Hi Vash, I'm also planning to breastfeed until one, then I'm definitely going to stop - three more months to go! Luckily Emma easily takes a bottle of expressed milk - even if I give it to her myself. Good luck

ME: 40 - stage 4 endo, left tube removed
DH: 42

4x laparoscopies
5x hysteroscopies
4x IUI - BFN
12x IVF/ICSI/PICSI - BFN
Planning our next step: donor eggs, adoption or living happily ever after with an only child

May 2016: Lucky nr 13 IVF (own eggs) - BFP! First beta 253, second beta 1100.
First and second ultrasound: one perfect little heartbeat.
10 week scan: identical twins in one sac!!

Hey vash, James is now trying to stand and feed - beat that:) I've learnt to feed him before we go out to avoid the flailing around in public. Now that he is eating more solids this seems to be workig. Its very occasional that we are out the whole day and then I just make sure we find somewhere out of the way to feed (in corners etc... I must add that I no longer give a darn about trying to cover up, if people are offended then they shouldnt be looking that hard, but then thats me:)

As for the teething if he bites push his face into you so that he cant breathe and has to let go. Then say no firmly and stop feeding him for a while. He may cry, but will get the idea very quickly. James is already learning what no means for other things as well...

Thanks ladies. I don't want to stop breastfeeding completely because I know it's good for him so I will try expressing again but he will only drink out of a straw in a cup. I didn't mind breastfeeding before but now that he's getting older he wants to play and drink at the same time and it's getting really hard to do it when we go out. He's also cutting his 1st and 2nd teeth so I'm worried about him biting me!

Vash, you need to do what you feel is best. 1 is good so you can skip out on formula (sorry, I have a thing about milk that is made, rather than one that is found in nature:)), but if you are hating it then it will just affect your relationship

Bfding is also a comfort thing. If he is teething then he'll be sore and will be using you (bm has analgesic properties) to help him feel better. You could try givin yourself a break by letting someone else take him. Try giving him cold snacks (I do frozen yoghurt) which is nice on the gums, cooling in this heat and let someone else "soothe him" when he is irritable so he learns to take comfort in other things.
James went through a stage when he wanted to nurse incesantly a few weeks ago and it was driving me crazy. It seems to have passed (this coincided with his 9 month mom fussed stage when he wanted me to cary him all the time). It may just be a stage that will pass.

As for me I'm going to let him self wean so if that takes 3 years, then so be it:)

Hi. I breastfed until my LG was 16 months. But towards the end also didnt like breastfeeding. I stopped gradually by dropping one feed at a time and replacing with Nan3 eventually I was breastfeeding only at night and then it was easier to stop completely. Also tried cows milk but wasnt too good on her tummy so still on Nan3 will try cows milk again when she's 18 months
