how long did you breastfeed for?

Hi. I breastfed until my LG was 16 months. But towards the end also didnt like breastfeeding. I stopped gradually by dropping one feed at a time and replacing with Nan3 eventually I was breastfeeding only at night and then it was easier to stop completely. Also tried cows milk but wasnt too good on her tummy so still on Nan3 will try cows milk again when she's 18 months

I breastfed up to 6 months. I think you did pretty well to breastfeed up to 9 months.

My psychologist said that in her opinion if the mother doesn't enjoy the breastfeeding, it's best to stop since your LO will pick up on it and the whole benefit of the bonding will be nullified.

I would say trust your gut instinct. Breastfeeding is extremely beneficial, but if you or your child doesn't enjoy it, I think it can do more damage than good. Just my opinion.

I breastfed until 17 months, but my son stayed at a nanny, so I expressed for about 3 months, and that was given to him by bottle, then I went to Nan during the day and only fed him in the morning and at night, as he got older he only fed about every 3 day, and I just stopped offering and he stopped asking.

Not drink bottle at night anymore, but still have a bottle with cow's milk with his afternoon nap.

My LG was breastfed up until 6 weeks and it just didn't work out for us.

My LB however was breastfed up until 8 months. Even though he was put into a creche at nearly 4 months - I expressed during the day and sent it to school the following day.

The benefits are endless!

Maybe you should try to express first and give it to him with a bottle??? Then he is still getiing in the breastmilk and you don't have to go through it if you obviously don't like it?

After my son turned 1 I put him on Nido 1 or Nan3 (whichever is available at the shops) I have tried normal cows milk but it doesn't work well with his tummy at this stage.

You can start cow's milk at 12 months.

Troy still on boobie but during the day he is drinking his cow milk and is definitely starting to enjoy it. I took a bottle out with me yesterday and he sucked on it sitting on my lap! A first for us. Was very cool cos I didn't have to haul out the old boob!

I've been breastfeeding for almost 9 months now and I'm beginning to hate breastfeeding. Liam doesn't drink from a bottle or use a dummy. He's teething now and he's using me as his dummy. As soon as I take my boob out of his mouth he starts screaming. I'm getting really frustrated because I hate the feeling of breastfeeding. I want to breastfeed at least until he is a year old but my DH wants me to breastfeed longer. How long did you breastfeed before giving your baby normal milk?
