Hi Ladies,

Nels - it is absolutely fantastic news. I am so happy and relieved for you, it sounds as if you are in very good hands with care providers who prefer gentle birthing. So reassuring to hear (although we know it is true) that other doctors believe that natural childbirth is still safer. And that one risk has such a low chance of actually happening, the chance of any other birth complication is even more likely to happen than that one risk (and we don't lie awake thinking about that long list of other unlikely complications).
So happy that they are willing to let you go up to 42 weeks, now all that you can do is relax and wait for your little miracle to arrive when she is ready.

So I asked my midwife at the last appointment what she thought was the best kick starter for labour (assuming baby is in anyway almost ready to arrive), she said in her experience (she said midwives opinions differ on this) is that the most success she has seen was with couples having regular sex since the semen ripens the cervix to start thinning... and going to the Zoo!! Obviously not taking the golf cart but actually walking...She said that she is not too sure that all the strange foods that people eat and drink actually works. But I guess opinions vary on this!

Hope the rest of the VBAC ladies are doing well! xx

Hi Ladies

On friday I went to the Govt Hospital I was referred to after the clinic and they adviced me to have a vbac which was such a relief. Its funny how they listed a long list of risks about csections and then just one on a vbac. They too me to get a scan done and baby measured at 2.866kg. It was such a relief to see 2 Dr's , a midwife and have a sonar done and tests all for free in less then 3hours and have great service. So good news is the Dr said I can go till 42 weeks , no date after friday was scheduled, I will be monitored during labor but no bed rest just walking and checks done once in a while. I dont need to go back unless I am in labour. Im so excited and happy and relieved.

Thanks Jeanine :-)

That is awesome, it is encouraging to know that it is possible to have a natural after caesarean.

I hope to have 100% natural waterbirth too, hope it works out :-)

Hi Chantal,

My VBAC was a 100% natural waterbirth :)
No interventions, and no pain relief!!

As far as I researched back then (never did ask Phindi...) they won't allow an induction with a VBAC?
She did offer to do a stretch and sweep - but only on my due date - I went into labour the day before...

Thanks JeanineK.

How did your VBAC go? Was there any interventions?
I want it to be without any induction etc, want it to be a natural as possible.

Hi Chantal,

I used Phindi for my VBAC last year - and I know a few other ladies on the forum also used her.
