Well it is not safer, but in the end if you really feel you must have a c-section, please please make sure they wait till at least 41weeks!

I will... but if you knew me, you'll probably ask me to have a cut! Actually my fiancee told me to make an appointment now for my C-section so everything is set, for planning purposes. When i hesitated he looked up from a magazine and said, u are still getting the cut right? when i told him i'm not so sure anymore, he said, just wait and see you'll have a C-section, besides it's safer for you and the baby!

Zee, if fear is the issue, then please do a hypnobirthing course. It will remove all fear. Labour is a wonderful beautiful thing, and can be so lovely and calm, and happy - as it should be, if you have the right information and help.

Thanks MissesMom, I just don't want to make a decision which i will regret later because i was too scared.... I've noticed how much everyone here wants a natural birth which is why i started thinking maybe a c-section is not a good idea after all.

Widget, I am so angry on your behalf! Which area are you in? Maybe you and your hubby can go and chat even with hasie? Hasie - do you have any successful VBAC mommies maybe they can chat with?

And also the reason VBAC mommies end up having a c-section is because Dr's and hospitals are the most unsuportive people when a mom is in labour. They have forgotten how to deliever a baby. Its SO sad!
Here is an interesting article for you and hubby to read:

Zee13 - ok, this is a pro natural group - and there is a very good reason for it - every mom here who had a c-section has regretted it.
1 - there are very few dangers with a healthy pregnancy natural birth - babies are hardly ever too big, or any other rubish your Dr spews at you. Your body was made to do it.
2 - slim, esp if you have a good service provider. There are far more risks with a c-section, esp since babies get removed too early and dont have the hormones from labour to strenghten lungs.
3 - again very few - much higher with a c-section, I have a friend who lost her uterus due to a c-section.
4 - C-section is higher
5 - Yes of course, hypnobirthing, water birth, having good support and avoiding epidurals will help for a fast easy labour - and they are hardly ever messy.
6 - I'd say all of them, although I dont think you need antenatal classes if you do hypno and have a midwife.

Hi ladies,

I'm pregnant for the first time and i've been thinking of the birth that i wanted. Initially I was convinced that i wanted a C-section because i'm afraid of the whole child birth experience. But now i'm really re-thinking the whole thing. So i wanted to find out from you ladies the following ( please forgive my ignorance):

1. What are the dangers associated with a natural V birth?
2. What are the chances that the oxygen supply to the baby will not be interrupted and result in long term disability
3. What are the dangers to me as a mother?
4. Which has a more mortality rate, Natural or C- section?
5. Is there a way of making natural child birth as clean and easy as possible?
6. Which is important, Hyponobirthing, a Doula, Midwife and antenatal classes?

Widget I'm so sorry you're going through this....

I was kinda there a few weeks ago. I left one gynae and went to another with hopes that the new one will let me VBAC, he also had stories. My husband trusts the hospital he practises in more than a birth centre, so he outright said "I know what you've said but just know that I'm not for Genesis"....gosh that crushed me, he asked all types of things like will they see on time if something goes wrong, I had to explain to him that even in hospitals it's midwives who are with you the whole time, Dr only comes at the end, it's midwives who see that something is wrong and call Dr. I had to ignore his lack of trust and continue talking about the amazing care I'm getting from my midwife and how great Genesis is. At the last appointment he came with, he wasn't very into it but he's letting me be now, he has accepted that as much as I respect him, I know better, and it's about finding a medical team that supports my decisions, not the other way around.

The Dr who did my ceaser called my husband aside at my 6 weeks app and scared him, so now my husband kept on saying "but Dr said this and that", and I had to explain everything, how it was actually done as it was done to me and he can't fully know without my confirmation.

I'd say don't give up. Give your husband some time, do your research with the midwives. Then talk to your husband again.

As for that gynae....I think they have a club or something......bring them in and agree to TOLAC, then act dumb as they get closer to due date, and oh, don't forget to scare the husband.... So many of them do that....
