Thanks Hasie ?)
My heart is still a bit sore that I didn't get my vbac but I'm so glad that the thread has enabled so many women to have major success in theirs.
And the sooner you start thinking of your birthing options the sooner you can decide to move to a midwife or birthing centre rather than a gynae if you are not 100% confident gynae will do their best to ensure your Vbac wishes are met.
Marijke congrats on your girly!
I am following the stories closely via my cellphone but don't seldom get to reply as my phone bombs out when trying to post.
Rei is doing well. Despite a csec at 39 weeks, she is a healthy happy baby, and was 5 weeks this past Friday and gaining weight well.
I took a long time to recover from my csec. Had nerve sensitivity on the left side and was hardly mobile the first 2-3 weeks. I still take strain when carrying Rei or walking in shops, and have been stuck in doors for the most part which is frustrating, but it's much better now and I am focusing my efforts on breastfeeding and ensuring she gets the best benefit I can offer which is in my control.
Thanks to everyone for the support received!!!
And Im so ecstatic that this topic didn't become something to be debated and rather a genuine support group for ppl who want their natural births talking to each other freely and not judging when it doesnt go to plan.
PS - doula or no doula - this is such a personal decision. Hubby plays a role in deciding to have one too - mine wasn't keen I think cos they don't understand but they have to be part of that decision. Talk about it when you're not too hormonal or defensive and have a clear mind, don't decide after one conversation but give them time to think about it, and send them material that highlights why you would like to consider one.
I have been a doula to a friend of mine before, and while hubby was primary support, I provided a different kind of support as a female who understands the wish to birth to your plan, and it was an extremely awesome experience being there for my friend like that. But I do get why not everyone would feel the need for one so that's why I say you must decide for yourselves if it's a route you feel will help you achieve your birthing desires or whether its something you want to keep private with your husband.
But then - do find yourself a pro natural antenatal class for both you and hubby to attend so he can be involved and learn from a professional how to best support you during the birth.
All the best
