Hi marijke!

Haha I would pack yours with pleasure, as I've already done mine again today..

I'm from fish hoek, cape town, and yourself?

So great to hear that the hypnobirthing is as great as it sounds! Please tell me more :)
I was reading about it last night, a description about how our bodies naturally work through birth, and then what happens when we feel fear, the whole fight or flight thing, and it just makes soo much sense! I can just imagine the muscles counter acting each other and how stressful that can be for mother and baby.
I watched my sister give birth, she also went without pain relief, but she was not relaxed at all and it was quite traumatic.

Sorry for jumping in here

I'm due 8th November so I'm very close to you alexmillar and joybaby of course.
Last week Saturday I completed the 4th of 5 hypnobirthing course 'days' and it really was/is a wonderful experience, very relaxing, not just in the sense of learning techniques on relaxing but also to be surrounded by so many like minded people and positive stories really is empowering. Where do you live if I may ask?

You should come pack my baby stuff, I just can't find the time! ;)
Been having period type pains too, especially last night as I completely overdid it with the cleaning and washing

Married for 13 years

Hello :)

Lauz, yes this is my first, very excited but getting quite scared as times creeps closer to the big day! I'm almost too scared to find out how big he is now, going for my next check up tomorrow so will hopefully know then. He is so heavy!

Joybaby, glad to have someone close to where I am! And to hear that you are feeling the pressure too- don't feel like too much of a sissy now, hehe.

I can't imagine trying to work and being this pregnant, I really applaud those of you who have been, must be hectic, especially with other little ones as well! I moan when I walk to the shop

I get so bored, I have packed and re packed babies clothes so many times I have lost count. That and I just love to smell them!
We hadn't planned on getting pregnant so soon, my boyfriend and I have been together nearly four years now, and had planned to be married and a bit more financially stable before having kids, but life has other plans hey :) we are very excited though. But, it has meant that we are having to go to a public hospital, which is a bit of a pain. Luckily the one where we live is very small and quiet, and is quite nice, our friend had her lg there two years ago and had a good experience so all should be fine.
I'm planning on a natural birth with no pain relief!
Have any of you experienced public health care with regards to having your babies? And what pain relief methods have you used or are you planning to use?
I've been reading about hypnobirthing, thought it sounded a bit ridiculous in the beginning but the more I read about it the more it actually makes sense.
Anyone tried it?
Pity I only started thinking about it seriously recently, now there isn't really any time to get to classes, but am definitely going to see if I can incorporate it into my labour..or should I say "birthing"..hehe.

Lauz, the tens machine is something I wondered about too. Would love to hear how it works for you :)

I've been having what feels like mild period pain, sure its just pressure, but I can't help hoping that he will come early.hehehe. Having my baby shower on the sixth, very excited for that. How were yours? Did any of you do the games and things like that?

Anyway, hope you are all having a wonderful week :)

Hi girls

Congrats to all whose bundles have already arrived. I am especially happy to hear that all are healthy!!! What a miracle!

Welcome to Alex. Youre due a week after me so we'll be hanging together the last while everyone else is catching up on sleep hopefully!

Just a quick update - its late and I should be in bed already!

I am now 35 weeks along, and my maternity leave starts on Friday woohoo!
I'm really going to miss work but greatful to be off, I'm taking strain now!
Will see gynae on Friday for internal and pelvic exam and assess whether I'm still looking good for natural birth.
She is getting so big now, I have to sit straight up or she pushes into my ribs and I get short of breath. My feet have also started swelling something awful. But otherwise I cannot complain too much although I do get tired a lot!

This week was especially rough as my LG was in hospital (Again) with pneumonia and because I'm working I wasnt able to stay with her. Hubby, ouma and granny stepped in. I slept there at night and managed to take Thursday off work to be with her. We were discharged on Saturday to my surprise. I'm still thinking it was a little too early as she still has a lot of phlegm but hoping most of the gunk came out until then (was admitted on Tuesday).
I am very greatful that we had a long weekend, as I recouperated on Saturday and yesterday I slept till 11am and had an afternoon nap. Today I also napped for 2 hours.

Not much more to tell at this point. Still have a whole lot to do to get ready for baby, and my gynae is on leave the first week of October so hopefully she stays put till after then. Will be spending the first week at home getting everything washed and packed for baby, and buy the last things still needed. Received a nice amount of cash at the baby shower which I can use to buy feeding bra's, more nappies and a diaper bag. Also want to buy one of those support belts to help after birth, but they are pricey. Think it will be money well spent if it helps my tummy not get as flabby as last time :S Also going for a hair cut, bikini wax and brow wax next week for some 'me time' pampering. Received a voucher for a full body treatment which I'm looking forward to using after the birth :)

Hope all well. It's bed time for me, yawn!!!

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Hello Ladies,

Welcome Alexmillar, all these ladies have definitely helped me as a first timer, it is a wonderful site! Is this your first baby? How big is baby?

@Ginah he is so chubby and cute and so peaceful, congrats again!! The reason I need to work past 37 weeks is because well I kinda have no choice really. It was all planned that I would have someone doing my work but then we had people leaving and the person who was going to take over from me had to learn that work - long long story. However this will be my last week at work, kinda happy about that :cheer:

@Monic@R she is adorable!!! Hope things settle down with Jaimey and her sister! Let us know how it goes!

@Elamsmom hoping to hear that you have finally had your little one!

Good luck BettsF for Wednesday please post pics as soon as you can, and let us know how it all goes :)

Wednesday ill be 38 weeks and my gynae will be back from leave so ill be less stressed if baby does come early. Bags are packed and pretty much excited now!

I asked in the labour and birth forum if anyone has tried the TENS machine, doesnt look like anyone has - but I did get one and excited to see how it will help with the pain relief!

Have a great evening all!

Have loved reading your stories so far, such beautiful, healthy babies! Congratulations :)

Would love to hear some of your birth stories, and follow you through the last stretch of pregnancy so I know what is to come!

Hallo ladies! Monica, gorgeous lil girl! Elamsmom i hope you see progress soon, i remember how frustrating it was with my son, he was ten days overdue, all that waiting! Oh monica, my son is also 3 and i have the same fears about how he will take to his new brother. Hopefully it will get better with time, get DH to shower her with attention when he can, so she still feels special.
