Mommies - April 2014

Hi ladies! I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant and my EDD is 26 April 2014.

Went to my gynae on Monday and he thinks it's another boy. Still very early at 13 weeks, so it may change...lets see what dr says at 17 weeks. My oldest son is 19 months so they will be exactly 2 years and 1 month apart.

Was so sick over the weekend. Phoned more than one pharmacy and they told me that I can only drink panados. I was suffering from a severe stuffy nose and headaches. Went to my GP on Saturday and I had a bacterial infection in my sinusses. Dr prescribed (safe) antibiotics, cortisone and pain meds and I was feeling much better on Monday.

Hi ladies
i am English, but i can understand a bit of afrikaans. The 6 i boutgh is mother nature, not the all in one but the one where you must use a cover, bamboo and cherub tree. Out of those 3 i choose the bamboo. What i liked about the bamboo was they fit from birth to potty train. With the cherub tree we had accidents. But now i see there's lots of brands, i am just sure i will be a cloth mommy. What i liked about these all in one even hubbies can change nappies without a hasle, and it costs less. I was telling hubby the other day, that i am going to need like 4500 to buy the nappies he was shocked and thought it was a lot of money, but when i made estimates of disposables. He ended up supporting my choice. I agree disposables are convient if your budget allows it. Due to the disposable nappies being wasted at daycare, i ended up potty training early cause 6 nappies were too much for a 16 months old baby, 18 months we potty trained, 2 months later he was off the day nappy

Makatk - it is amazing how different pregnancies can be. With my daughter I couldn't stomach meat - with this one I love meat. Sorry that you feel left out when we comment in Afrikaans - stick with us and you will be fluent by April LOL

Jay - Disposable nappies very pricey but they are so convenient

Goggatjie - now I feel like a pie. All the best with the conference - I was on one last week and my bum was eventually so sore from all the sitting ON HARD CHAIRS!!!

AFM - still not much happening. Don't feel as tired and MS has climbed back in the closet!!!! Cannot wait for my appointment tomorrow.

i must say, my decision to use cloth was a financial one, luckily there are alot of other great benefits as well
go have a look on there facebook page, there they have alot of photos and videos comparing different brands. i found that to be very useful.

it is difficult to say which is the best, because all of them work really well.
i have done alot of reading before i picked a brand and i decided on the Bam+Boo nappies. apon reading alot of reviews my 3 top choices was Bam+Boo, snuglybum and Fancypants.
i wanted a all-in-one nappy which is one-size-fits-all. alot of the brand have different sizes then you have to get a few in every size, and i would rather have the one size, then i will always have enough nappies. and if you have a bigger baby they might grow out of the sized ones to quickly - this happened to a friend of mine.

@ Mommyme...ncooohhh the pic is cute, congrats to uy friend and coleague. How I wish that baby was mine already I've got an English/Afr dictionary and I keep forgetting bringing it to the office I am keen to learn and i hope by teh time we give birth i'll be rolling on water with Afrikaans

I wrote in one of the forums that we were advised at my previous antenatal classes to only dring energy drinks ending with "ADE" e.g powerdae, Energade, lucozade etc but should be taken in moderation. We were also advised then to bring a bottle to hospital when in labour I am not much of an energy drinker so it didn't bother me if i took one in a month. Do some research and can we all ask our Dr's when we see them.

I had a look at all the nappies, nappy covers that closes with velcro are not so nice, the velcro sticks to everything, so that is why I got the new covers from mother nature.
