Shame, were thinking about you and praying everything will be fine.

My mother found out at 5 and half months that she is pregnant and at that time was 41.

So she had to do a Amniocentesis and was fine even with her age and situation. The only thing is you have to be very relaxed and rest when you return, so if you decide to do it, maybe not to travel all the way back to your home town.

Discuss with your doctor and also read post of previous mommies that have done it. Sometimes there's good advice.

Good luck and just have faith that everything will be fine.

Hello all

So I had a huge scare this morning and now I have a big decision to make.

Early this morning the lady at the gynie's office phone me to say that he want to see me asap, regarding the blood tests. And the soonest I can get to JHb again is only on Wednesday... So my Dh took over and phoned the dr. telling him our situation and that we can not come immediately.

Well... so he had the meeting with us over the phone and said that there is a chromosome abnormality. It is not very serious, it just one chromosome that has a lower count than the other and he want's me to do a Amniocentesis on 16 weeks. But it is up to me if I want to do it.

I am a wreck, what do I do now. Do I go for this Amniocentesis, and risk a miscarriage or do a say no way and see what happen???

Has anyone else here ever had a Amniocentesis? Please I would appreciate any advise or input...

@Jay I feel like, had a she boss like that but thankful she is gone now. Stay strong and don't let her get to you. I am also hoping that we find out the gender of our babies, shopping is calling my name and my hands are itching.

@StellaK, hope the hunger is gone. As for buying, had a car seat that suited birth to 5 years, my son is 3 and we are still using it. We started him on teh seat when he was a month old as per paeditrician advise, and I noticed that it helped to strengthen his spinal as by 3 months he was already attempting to sit on his own (my view ). We had the cot and pram obviously, and then due to the environment we live in ( Higly mining acitvities and pollution ) a humidifier was a must. I used Avent bottles and found them super, a couple of friends complained about Dr Brown's so I avoided. We had lots of pampers,wet wipes and toiletries they lasted us over a year . Be modest with clothes buying, as I found that i didn't use most of the clothes and gave them away during baby showers as they had tags on still ( shopping from my son's closet ).

@Goggatjies, I agree with you on sleeping in for the whole weekened. Pity I don't think i'll get any proper sleep, my lil cousin is getting married on teh 28th of Dec. and guess what???? I was just told that all the planning is mine to take care of
I don't mind as I enjoy event planning but such short notice!! deep sigh, worse is that the wedding will be more than 300Km from where i stay so there'll be lots of travveling in between of which thefirst one is this Saturday...someone rescue me please

Who did i miss? Hope everyone is well.

AFM- am doing well can't complain, fatigue s slowly becoming a thing of the past , but of late I have this discomfort on my left hip, sometimes I can't move immediately as it is locked. Other say it could be that the baby is lying on that side, must I worry? Nay of you experiencing that. Things have been hectic at work, was out of office doing field work and meetings for the past two days, I pray for a quiet time next week.

Jay - I hope you feel better soon, and I know the feeling about your work. My last boss could not talk to a person, she would scream the whole day, i do not know how I lasted for 2 years, but I cried to work and on the way back, that was the worst 2 year of my life. We are a little bit more sensitive with the hormones going through us, but I am sure her faul mood will pass soon.

Santie, what a great pic, and please look after yourself that you do not stress so much. Luckily placenta can move, so that is a good thing. I am glad you like your new doctor.

Sterretjie, I agree, I bought way to much clothes for my LG. Luckily I saved all her and her brothers clothes, so I do not have to buy anything, I will just have to check the seasons of the clothes as it will be a bit different now.

So this weekend is another busy one.
DH cycling on Saterday in Hartebeespoortdam, then hope to have a rest day on Sunday.
Next weekend is a whole weekend seminar, not looking forward to sitting on hard chairs the whole weekend.
Then after that is is going a bit slower, so that is great news for me
I need some time to sleep the whole weekend. Not that I am tired, I just want to sleep.

Just a quick reply to Stella
I agree a monitor is a must, I still use it for my daugther and son, their rooms are not next to ours, so I can't always hear them calling.
I decided from the beginning that I will use cloth nappies, and have been using them with both my kids, I will def. use them with my third.

Cloths are so cute for the girls, that I bought way to much. My LG did not wear half of it, but I hope the next one is also a girl so that I can use it again.
One thing we really use alot is a stroller, now that my LG is bigger, The pram that the car seat fits in, was just to big for us, when we moved her from the snug & save to the normal car seat.

Bottles, I use Nuk, and love them. Had them for my LB and now used them for my girl, and I just said the the baby will take it, and they did. So I was very glad about that

with clothes i will try to wait till after my baby shower.
nappies a have decided to go the cloth nappy route. i have bought a set of Bam+Boo cloth nappies. i have 2 friends who used cloth nappy's and enjoyed it a lot.

Santie, your scan pic looks amazing. so glad that everything is 100% with baby. hopefully you can see the gender at your next scan.
how is your lg? is she better now?

Hi ladies
I am just down in the dumps today, i just wish i was home and i just want cry. No reason at all, i just feel so down, everthing is getting to me. The other day i left 10 minutes from work, as i was going out my boss says it's not half past yet, i said i know, i was here early, she says" you must watch the time" i said i ca't go back as i have shut down my computer. She has been in a fowl mood for days. I guess it's due to the increase that i want. When i started the job, i did not agree on the salary, the answer was your qualification is incomplete, finish it and we will talk again. Now that it's completed, no word at all, i went and asked her, she said she is very busy, we will talk in the new month, that was the 25/09. She knows i am stuck here i can't leave. One thing for sure after maternity leave i will be job hunting. I am so depressed at the moment.
