I started working when Lea was 8months. Still bfeeding and going good.

Sjo...its been a while!

your babies are all absolutely adorable. Well done to everyone for persevering on the breastfeeding. No judging but so many woman give up to easily and start formula. I breastfed my first 2 for a year so hoping for the same this time round. Also been stocking up in the deep freeze for when he starts daycare end of next month

I'm absolutely loving having a baby in the house again. He gets cuter by the day and I just can't get enough of him. He is such a good baby. He has his regular sleeps during the day, a long one of about 2.5 to 3 hours in the morning. I made sure from the beginning that I did no rocking so I just put him in his bed with nappy (toweling) and dummy and he goes straight off to sleep with no hassle. He goes down in the evening at half 6 and wakes up the first time between 2 and 3 then back to sleep till about 6. During the day when I'm busy he is quite happy to lie under his toys on the play gym. He talks and laughs with them for ages.

He has learnt very well to just fit in. My older boys (8 and 6) race bmx and ride motorbikes. Racing is every Sunday and then there is training 2 to 3 days a week. I always like to go with and watch so Chase is always out and about. If it is in the evening I still follow same routine. Feed him and out him to bed in the bakkie...He goes straight off. He stays sleeping even when I take him out at home and carry/put him in his bed.

I am absolutely dreading going back to work next month. I'm going to miss him so much. Also so worried that he is going to start getting sick once he starts daycare. Wish it wasn't so expensive to live and that we could all stay at home with our babas and watch them grow It is a lovely little daycare that he will be going to though so I'm really happy about that.

We off to JHB next week Wednesday for 5 nights. Will be our first time away with Chase and his first really long drive (We from Durban). We going up for the boys BMX. Really looking forward to it as it's like a holiday.

Well it's nice to see everyone is doing well and really nice seeing updated pics of the cutie pies. Keep up the good work!

Irene, all the best for what is remaining of your pregnancy. It seems to go slow at the end but before you know it you will have your precious angel in your arms. Cherish every moment of it as the time disappears so fast! Don't be scared...birth is such a wonderful experience and you'll do just fine.

MommyMe 'n pladate is in orde! So jammer om te hoor oor jou woefie Ek weet presies wat jy bedoel met die comments van "miskien het jy nie genoeg melk nie", my ma probeer my al druk in SOLIDS in vandat Nic 2 maande oud is, haar opinies het so handuit geruk dat ons op die oomblik nie eers praat nie (in haar opinie moet die kind op sy doodbed wees as hy enigsins huil, en is nipple shields en lanolin cream die duiwel, selfs my borsvoedings posisie is verkeerd volgens haar, en moenie eers praat oor die microval wat ek vat as voorbehoeding nie). Dit kry my ook maar onder, en ek wonder ook al heeltyd of ek genoeg het en of ek moet begin formula bygee (veral omdat Nic maar aan die stadiger kant gewig optel). Maar my pediater het 'n ruk terug gese dat solank hy op die selfde gewig curve bly is dit fine. Ek gaan darem dinsdag weer vir sy checkup, so sal dan bietjie probeer die situasie uitsorteer.

Karmie well done with the pumping! I've been trying to pump as much as I can but the pump tends to aggrevate my already sensitive breasts, which is tough. I've managed to get going without nipple shields, but as soon as I pump I'm back to square one Sounds like you had a good easter! I haven't been brave enough to really travel except for the occasional weekend at some family's cabin in Meerenbosch (but that's pretty close by).

Morning all the ladies

Karmie hulle is beautiful. en die oortjies. ag moeder.

So nice to see some posts. I had a bad patch of megraine about 2 weeks ago and ended up giving Lea top up formula, just felt like i had no milk. Spoke to a BF consultant after that and back on track again. Had a lot of pressure of "maybe you milk is not enough" or " not strong enough" etc and that made me doubt myself and my body. But i just stood my ground after that and wont give formula again unless its really necessary.

So our weekend away was wonderful. Had a good time on the farm,feeding the animals and just playing board games and relaxing. It was also a bit chilly,but nice.

Then when we got home on Monday evening after hectic traffic, one of our beloved dogs was not responding and collapsed but still breathing.
We rushed to the vet but it was to late. he had passed in the car. we are heartbroken.

Joans we must meet up sometime if you want. i also want to join a mommies group. will be nice. Hubby started to work from home a few weeks back so im really happy not being alone all day. also still deciding what to do about work. i dont want to go back to working full day, to trying to find something to do from home, or maybe half day.

Thanks Nadia! Did you go away over easter?

We drove to the Eastern Cape from Cape Town, we have a family farm in the klein karoo. Took us 9,5 hours each way with stopping for feeds and diaper changes. It was so worth it though as we and the little ones could spend time with the family, do the easter egg hunt and have fun on the farm. I attach some pics of my two girls.

Well done to us for still breastfeeding! I am also pumping out during the day as I am back at work. Luckily I am a great milk-cow as I have an abundant supply of milk The pump sometimes causes me to overproduce, so I need to carefully manage the quantity I pump.

Breastfeeding can be very hard in the beginning, but it becomes so convenient in my opinion. Traveling is so much easier.

Haha Joans, I understand the external pressure to stop breastfeeding and switch to formula and to start solids. The previous generation did things differently, but we have to do what we believe is best based on modern research on baby nutrition.

Happy for you and hubby Joans that he is now closer to home. It makes such a big difference in your stress levels if you don't have travel so far every day. As for the isolation, you are doing the right thing to join a moms and tots group. I regret not getting out more with my first, I actually think I got a bit depressed being cooped up in the house all day for 4 months.

Ladies, how are your UIF claims coming along? I still have to complete mine and time is running out

Hello everyone!

Glad to see you all are doing so well Fistly, everyone's babes are so gorgeous, we did well!

I am still exclusively breastfeeding as well, and although challenging at times, I am really glad to be able to do it. Trying to hold out until 6 months as well (to my mother's great distress. If she had her way, Nic would have been on solids months ago ) Generally Nic is pretty content, he sleeps incredibly well. He has had some spells of being really fussy, but since I've become more disciplined with his daytime nap schedule it's been MUCH better. I can't believe he's almost 4 months old now, how time flies! We baptised him on sunday, and the family has been around so things have been nice and busy.

My husband accepted a new job, so at the moment he's basically working both until his notice period is over at his old job, which is hectic, but worth it. His new job will be MUCH closer to home, so he doesn't have to spend at least 3 hours a day on the road, and also takes the financial pressure off me, so I may be waiting another couple of months before starting work again. Other than that I must say I've been feeling a little bit isolated as we haven't really connected to moms and dads in the somerset area, but I'm thinking of joining a moms and tots workshop or something to be a little more proactive about it, especially now that Nic's getting a bit bigger and his routine is a bit more predictable.

How's everyone else doing? Still enjoying maternity leave? Robyn how is it being back at work? (I see your pics on fb, Nathan is growing up so quickly, such a cutie)
