Nels, the chiro app was amazing. I felt like a different person after. Really makes a huge difference.

I had a stretch and sweep with my LB two days before his due date. I was 1 cm dilated when the midwife examined me, then she did the SnS after which i was 2cm dilated. That was early the wednesday morning. my labour slowly progressed during the day and the next morning at 4am my son was born. The SnS really wasnt that bad. Important thing is to breathe. I think midwife told me to take a deep breath and then she told me to breathe out slowly as she did it. It was uncomfortable but I am all for the procedure. Obviously worked really well for me. Very curious to see how my labour will start this time around. Oh ladies, this is all so exciting! We are so close!

Happy that you are home StarryEyed. And very glad that whatever is going on, its not something serious or dangerous. Holding thumbs for your photo shoot! We had a lovely one 2 weeks ago. Gorgeous pics on the beach at sunset. Love it!

1st pregnancy - We had a natural birth at home with our midwife. It was a dream come true!

2nd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 12 weeks (blighted ovum)

3rd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 7 weeks

4th pregnancy - 2013 Twins Miscarriage at 6 weeks 4 days

3 Sept 2014 - Saw and heard our little heartbeat.

Nelsn - Okay....now I get it. :) I am sending positive thoughts your way, may your little boy decide sooner is better than later.
I have read that anything that sets of oxytocin helps bring on labour, thus stroking your dog, hugging your child or partner, getting a body massage...
Some people even suggested nipple stimulation with a breast pump.

I was looking at all my little girl's photos and videos when she was still a baby and toddler - I think I was secreting liters of oxytocin!! Felt so emotional watching that cute little baby becoming her own person.

StarryEyed - Glad to hear you are home again. Your doctor sounds amazing. Most doctors intervene medically after 40 weeks to avoid litigation. I am holding thumbs that he will stay put just a while longer.

One thing I have learned along the parenting journey is not to compare your situation or child with another person's situation or child. This isn't always easy, but when it comes to parenting, people get handed very different sets of cards. Some people have everything easy, some people have it really really hard. Sometimes it seems as if other mothers have it all together and you are the only one struggling, but it is best not to compare your situation, feelings or experiences in a way that makes you feel inadequate or guilty about yourself as a parent. This is certainly a very intense journey (parenting) but it enriches your life and growth as a person like few things in life can in my opinion. I think it is important to allow all emotions to flow that comes with parenting, without judging yourself harshly and remember to stay nurturing of yourself.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!! xx

Hey everyone

Stretch and sweep sounds awful... two of my friends have had them... but they do work. I think one friend had one and 2 days later she was in labour... the other friend had to have it done twice before she went into labour. My doc has said he does not intervene before 42 weeks unless its medically necessary.

I am back home again... what a roller coaster this week has been. The doctor two days ago was talking viral infections... luckily they tested for all the nasty ones that can cross the placenta and we are all clear. But it was so terrifying because some of them can cause serious problems including severe brain damage. So after all of that they still do not know what is wrong. He has not gained weight in 3 weeks and his heart is enlarged but everything else is normal and healthy. Its very strange. Anyway... The doctor has taken me off the labour suppressants and we just wait and see what happens. I hope he stays in another week because a friend has organised for a photo shoot next Friday... really want a few lovely photos of my big tummy :)

It really helps getting spoilt by colleagues and family members. I am so grateful for the stock of nappies and toiletries ;)

I have also not been very excited but I thought it was the really awful pregnancy I am having. I am happy to know its normal and I am not alone. At this point I am just looking forward to his safe arrival and having my body back. Hate these hospital visits!

23Aug2014 - First positive test of my first pregnancy (4weeks & 3 days) :)

I agree with you Gloie about the feeling on first pregnancies. I think because of the unknown you dont know what to feel. But I am enjoying this pregnancy more than my first.

Gloie@ I will be 40wks on monday and had decided early in my pregnancy that should I reach 40 and nothing is happening then the only intervention either than exercise is try a SnS as that is the only other method I am open to take. Alot of vbac moms go over 40wks but it seems my previous generation went way over 40wks that my mom was even induced medically with my brother and I arrived later than 41wks. SnS at times doesnt work the first time and in most cases end up working only after the second try which I will try at 41+wks if it doesnt work at 40. Another issue is that my private hospital route is booked for next thursday in conjuction unknowingly till today is the same days for my gyneas cs dates, I will see my gyn on tuesday noon and find out where he stands about my vbac journey thus if he instists on a cs on Thursday I have 24hrs to cancel my private route booking and just focus on going the Govt route which is my plan B. Thus use my midwife for consults and Govt and Doula for birth. But I dont want to wait to try interven with a SnS at 42wks rather than start at 40. So chiro on monday and midwife on tuesday morning the Gynea noon.

Hi Ladies....

Nels, I am confused to as why you have to do to a stretch and sweep at 40 weeks? Is it your choice or did the GP recommend it? I thought you were allowed to go until 42 weeks without intervention?

RonnellB - So nice that people spoiled you at work! It is always so special how people can bless you at a time like this.

About not feeling overly excited: I personally think it is normal, especially if it is your first child. It was hard for me to conceive and become excited about what this new journey will bring. I think with a first child there might be also more emphasis on feelings of uncertainty, which I think is totally normal. I can't tell you how much more excited we are this time round about baby, because we know more or less what to expect to a certain extent and have experienced all the joys of parenting already. I already feel so much more bonded with this baby as I know this is a real person inside me with all her potential already locked up inside of her (and she is fully conscious) which makes the bonding easier this time round. What I am trying to say is don't feel bad or guilty for not being too excited. I think it is a very normal reaction!

Ohhhh....the cake...mmmm....ladies.... :P

Oh hello lovely ladies!

Always trust your instincts ... ;) Had a baby shower at the office yesterday, it was nice. Received lots of nice prezzies, and had LOTS OF CAKE!!!!! Felt a bit  afterwards... but I am (as always) ready for more today :P

I've indeed decided to take some of your advice to heart. I am trying to relax about the due date and will try take each day at a time. Difficult though.

I must admit, as a rule I am not an overly emotional person, not a touchy feeling kinda girl... so I cringe when people ask if I am excited about the baby, cause really, I am not as excited as I thought one should be (unless I am overrating the "should be" experience or perhaps I am still in denial!). However, someone asked me that question again yesterday, I took a minute and then said quite honestly, that I am still not that excited about it, I am however extremely excited about the moment when daddy gets to meet his little princess. His heart has longed for a child since the early stages of our relationship and 8 years later, I guess he must be bursting at the seams. During this whole pregnancy I've tried to involve him as much as possible, share as much as I can, yet he admitted to still feeling excluded / it being unreal to him. So I think once he's witnessed the birth and actually get to meet her, feel her, touch her, I can only imagine how his face will light up and what a completely different and fulfilled man I will see.. Now THAT is something I look forward to.

In the meantime, up for a bit of washing this weekend (all the new goodies) and some serious rest on Sunday - planning one of those "not getting out of my PJs" days!

Starry_ Hope you're still strong!
Nels_ Always have that Ace up your sleeve, its good that you know exactly what you want and how you want it.
Faffy_ Did you have a party too? Hope you were as blessed..
