I am having my 20 week scan on Tuesday..I cannot wait!!! Meanwhile, my belly is literally growing by the day. Still can't feel movement yet due to anterior placenta..so I am very excited about the scan. I am definitely doing a 4D scan as well. When can you do that scan?

Sorry about the nausea...can't be fun I have had some heartburn but mostly...gassy! Do not eat baked beans!!!!! You will regret it. lol

I had a little..ok not so little...freak out last night. suddenly I realized that my very confident plan on giving birth natural as long as all goes well...got messed up by my brother-in-law who told me and my husband that my lady parts will never be the same again...made my husband also worry. I don't want saggy lady parts

I know that if you are registered to deliver at Netcare they offer free antenatal classes and 4D scan (I stand to be corrected). My previous gynea did one and it was great , he charged it via medical aid but that was in 2009 so times and medical aid conditions have changed. The might not cover it, I know GEMS specify that they only pay for 2D scans.

How has the weight gain been for you ladies, i seemed to have gained nor lost nothing the passed 2mths and the midwife gave me a concerning look.
They checked for diabetes and hb but all is normal, I had to drink some horribly sweet mixture to check my sugar levels and wait an hour fortunately all is normal.
Starreyed@dont worry apart from buying what i bought from the thrift store I havent bought anything else and I have a few months to go. I really dont want to run aroun late Feb let alone March trying to sort things out.

how has your day been thus far. I had my second appointment at the public clinic today and was so happy with the service again. Massive relief. Was done by 10am while i was waiting for 1pm :o.

I used the Bamboo nappies, the microfibre am not a fan of esp after i saw them at the expo in august, i would suggest going onto the fb south african cloth nappy users they have alot of info and retailers that sell diff brands and lot of mom questions answered. Also try doodlebums.co.za they also have a variety even a loaning system so instead of buying first loan for a week or two and try diff brands so you know what works for you.

Gloei... So glad your 20 week assessment went well. We are having ours next week. Thanks for the advice, I do think his parents did not have a united front when raising him and their parenting style was hands off... I am sure we will be way more hands on and involved

The 4D scan is unfortunately not covered by medical aid, we are going to do it with this one and if its not that amazing then we won't do it again. Our first baby is the guinea pig

We found a place in PE that charges R590, you can take 10 family members or friends with... you get a 30 minute DVD of the entire scan and the baby moving, another DVD with portraits, photos and video clips, as well as 10 printed photos. At all our other scans we haven't really got a nice photo because our baby is quite an awkward odd-ball and loves sitting in weird positions, so we are particularly interested in the video. I am going to take chocolate, coke and jelly babies with just in case it needs some encouragement... I have been avoiding processed sugar and trying to be healthy... so yesterday when I had my first chocolate in weeks... the little one was doing flick flacks I have hardly felt it move so it was really lovely to feel that, lasted a good 5 minutes and I couldn't help but giggle coz it must have had a sugar high

Little girls are soooo imaginative. My four nieces play for hours in the garden... their favourite game is "dog park"... the put my dogs on leads and walk "their dogs" around the garden while chatting about "their" days. So amusing to hear how they are discussing their jobs, husbands and kids

Nelsn, I totally hear you on baking the cake! I love baking, but find it stressful to make a showstopper alongside all the other party arangements that needs to be done too. Glad to hear it was a success!!

We don't have any TV reception (by choice), only DVD's my LG can watch. It is surprising how many days goes by without her wanting to watch TV. She plays the most imaginitive games with sticks and stones and other junk for hours.

StarryEyed, Congratulations on the little boy!!! Quite funny about your husband being worried about all his sins coming back to him now...But rest assured I don't think it is hereditary, parenting styles play a big role, although some kids are more energetic than others, which means you might to your homework even more to sharpen good parenting skills in my opinion.

Sorry to hear about the nausea still plaguing you! I really hope that it will clear up soon! Can't imagine having to stomach the dog scene.

Do you have to pay for the 4D scan cash or does the medical aid cover it?
Would love to do it if it is covered.

On the minor complaining side: Still battling with constipation (not cool) since I ran out of peaches! ha ha ha! My headaches have improved and have become fewer - yeah!! I am getting more tired and have had to realise I can't do what I normally do and take things a little slower...Otherwise, all is good.

We had our fetal assesment 20 week scan this monday which was pretty cool! All seems fine at the moment.

Sorry I have been scarce, it has been crazy here... this time of year is overwhelming with progress reports and account recs. I am still feeling nauseous all the time... worse at night! At least I have managed to not vomit in the last week... had a close call when I saw my dog get sick. I had a scan and checkup up today. After our little monster tucking its legs at EVERY scan so far, the doctor finally managed to see today... and he is 90% sure that it is a boy but wants to confirm at the next scan. My poor hubby went completely green, and when we got outside he admitted he is terrified of having a boy coz he is worried it will be as naughty as he was when he was a kid... I could not stop laughing... I thought it was hilarious... his mother is going to say its poetic justice if we have a naughty child

Are any of you doing 4D scans? we decided to do it coz its our first baby and we are too excited about everything. We are going next week... hoping we might get sex confirmation at that scan. If not then we should get confirmation on the 16th because we have a big organ scan.

I have still not bought a single thing for our child (besides diapers at the checkers black friday sale). I have been feeling very down and sick and not in the mood to shop. I am hoping once we confirm the sex and choose names, that I am going to be spurred into action.

Nels_n: I have almost completed my shopping... only two more pressies to get thank goodness. I bought my nieces clothes for Christmas and loom bracelet sets to make their own bracelets. Unfortunately, my nieces are very spoilt so any toys we buy just get thrown away after a few months... so we have stopped buying toys as it is a waste of money.

How is every one doing? My flu is getting better at last , its been awful.
Schools are closing next tuesday in kzn so I have to arrange activities as we dont have dstv (cancelled it when we realised we started using it as a babysitter thus him becoming attached to tv).
Our sons birthday was a success even though baking his cake almost drained, no it drained us. Shocked at how well it came out at the end. I salute bakers, baking isnt for everyone.
Have you ladies started doing christmas shopping etc. The malls are really getting packed already and im shocked by how expensive basic toys have become :/.
I need ideas, what are you thinking of getting your lo or nieces and nephews?
