oh and the course also focusses on what to expect through every stage of labour and what you can do: shower, eat this, breathe like that etc.

It also deals with breastfeeding if that is something you want to do.

So overall I saw it as a great antenatal class with the perks of having deep relaxation techniques as well. Not once was any hypnotising present, it is how you relax yourself and your mind to lessen the pain you feel during labour.

Perhaps there are different instructors, but I was super happy with our instructor Lauren from Cape Town.

hi ladies

I am part of the January group and has just completed the Hypnobirthing classes at beginning of November. I used Gentle beginnings, you can google it.

I really enjoyed it and must say that I also felt a little like you did in the first class but then from the second class onwards (we had 5) I really learnt so much being a first time mom-to-be. She dealt with birth plan, what to expect, role of hubby, exercised you can do. A lot of stuff I didn't know and it made the whole picture of birth so relaxing and I cant wait!

If you want I can bring my manual tomorrow and just indicate the topics that was discussed.

The whole course works on the Marie Mongan method which you could buy a book from and get the cd as well. I am not sure exactly how the book reflects the class, because I am still busy reading it.

I do however know that not once during the classes did I feel that anything was not according to my religion, it actually made more sense and I focussed more on my religion, because everything focusses on how our bodies was created to give natural birth and how amazing everything works together.

I hope I explained it correctly, you are welcome to ask more questions if you are unsure or want to know more about the course we did.

have a nice day.

MM

Thank you for your advice! :)
I am doing very well thanks. Just got back from honeymoon and I now have a little baby bump belly...so I finally feel pregnant. I can't feel any movements yet at 17 weeks...but the doc said my placenta is anterior / in front so I wont feel movement until later on.

I think I might start off with a book then. Start reading up a bit and see how I do with that before applying for classes. They are quite expensive, so I would rather not do it if it's not entirely worth it. Books are very informative anyways :) So can I just google hypnobirth or hypnobabies?

Hi Faffymum!!

Hope you are doing well?

I am doing the classes and the book and relaxation CD is supplied included in the course. So far I am not sure if the classes are worth it, because after receiving my book this week I realised that the instructor is just basically talking about what is written in the book (all very helpful and insightful) but I can read it on my own time. The interaction is nice with other pregnant moms but my main reason for doing this is to prepare my mind for labour and face my fears about labour, not to interact with other pregnant ladies.
Perhaps I should have rather purchased the Hypnobabies study course as they basically cost the same. (No classes available here in SA as far as I know.)

The Antenatal classes we did with my first child wasn't that nice and I would be cautious what classes you take especially if you want an unmedicated low intervention birth (if you do want that). Personally I don't think Antenatal classes are that important, but if it makes mom and dad more relaxed and confident then it might be worth it. I guess it is already a type of bonding with your child which is a good thing.

Perhaps at the end of the Hypnobirthing course I might have a more complete opinion. But what I do know is that using Hypnosis and not doing the hourly practicing sessions daily will result in all ones effort pretty useless. It is something you must really put time and effort in to be able to reap the rewards on the day as far as I understand.

Hi ladies....so did you just order a hypnobirthing book rather than go to classes? Or did you go to classes as well? I want to start thinking about going to antenatal or hypnobirthing classes but can't decide which is better?? The one seems to be more practical..about what to be prepared for what to pack for the day etc...and the other more about meditation?

Gloie@ thanks for the links. Being an all in one and wahm becomes more challenging when a pregnancy comes into play. Dont know how I will be during newborn stage. :/
i will be trying the peaches for sure, my midwife said i must get minthol/mint from the health shop by Soil as it helps with reflux. So i habought that and hoping it helps.

Hi Ladies,

Nels, I have realised that I am taking almost one panodo every day or every second day...It would have been easier if I could just lie on the couch, but now I have to work and run the household, not that easy. But I will manage.

I am feeling a bit deflated after searching various international forums etc, and it seems as if everyone is saying that Hypnobabies is SO much better than the hypnobirthing. Same idea just a different program. It seems as if most of the comments seem to be about that the Hypnobabies is a lot more comprehensive and in depth. I am thinking of just perhaps buying 2 downloads from Hypnobabies specifically for VBAC listening.

Nels, yes, it seemed as if Christian Ladies on forums disagreed rather strongly about the topic. I guess it is one of those personal choices that one must have peace with yourself.

I am also battling with the reflux! Doing exercise is also rather challenging with the reflux. Your description of it feeling that you entire box is quite apt...

ps: I have figured out that eating 4 - 5 peaches per day seemed to have chased the constipation away! Ha ha ha!

Here are some verses and more info from babycenter forum:

Hope everyone has a super day!!

PS: hope all the other ladies are just really busy and doing well??
