Good Morning Ladies,

I really cant believe how organised you all are. I think my organisation is all being thrown into work and not into the home place at all

Ill hopefully get into it soon enough.

Regarding the whole baby registry, I didn't have one for my first what I told people to get me was nappies, wet wipes, clothes and products. However people got me things that I both needed and didn't need. The things I didn't need ive given to either people in need or as the entry to baby showers (ensuring it hadn't expired).

Clothes wise I remember having to change a few things because I either didn't like the outfit or had duplicates. All stores were super helpful and it was easy to swop out, excepting Jet they were an absolute nightmare it took us over an hour to find out what the clothes cost and then to get it exchanged was another HUGE mission, so I now know next time if I get any clothes from Jet to either just stick it out or give it to someone less fortunate than me.

@LouiseM, that is so awesome you got to see your Larissa so soon, even if it was due to worry ;) That's great news that she is growing, how about some scans of your little princess? oh and regarding the car seat I cant for the life of myself remember it is the Narnia but its for the toddler age group.

I cant wait to go tomorrow, im sure someone else was going for their scan this week, Aden im sure it was you when you going, please post pics I love looking at the scans

Back onto the name game gosh im finding it so difficult I didn't have it this hard with my first we had a name and stuck with it now with our little boy its proving to be pretty difficult.

Hubby now doesn't like Ashton (and my mom has also jumped on that bandwagon lol). At least Luke is still sticking and my daughter keeps telling everyone her brothers name is Yoghurt Luke  In the beginning it was Rice and Milo now its Yoghurt, her brain is also working overtime :silly:

So now we have come up with Luke Carlin (Carlin in honour of my dad who passed away last year on the 29 July, his name was Carlos - way too Portuguese for me) and I just love the meaning of Carlin - little champion.

Funnily enough when I googled Carlin in the urban dictionary it means to be the main Pimp or gang leader in the hood hahahaha, lets hope he doesn't turn out to be a gang leader and rather a little champion if the name sticks....

@Pillpusher I keep meaning to tell you I just love your blogs, thank you for sharing them

Hope you all have a warm and lovely day

Hi ladies,

You guys are so super prepared that I'm jealous! I don't think I'll have a baby shower (this being my 2nd and none of the women in my family having kids so they're quite clueless and not super excited about the birth). We will probably buy the most necessary stuff, and then go to the baby expo in November a couple of weeks after the birth, to get whatever we still need. that's my plan anyway

LouiseM, it turns out that it was a false alarm, and that I'm just secreting much more fluid than I did with my first pregnancy. Apparently this much clear discharge is quite normal :tmi: Who knew right? Could they not tell us these things in advance??

Our kitty is doing well, thanks pillpusher. Thanks to the dogs (large dogs) and my MIL visiting this weekend and bringing her chihuahua's with, which will have to be kept separate from our dogs, I'm afraid kitty will probably be house bound till after the weekend (and hiding in a closet somewhere. Come to think of it, I wish I were her :P ).

Thanks for feedback about registries. The problem is that there's a very different mindset in PE, very much a small town in an urban setting. From the showers I've been to (both friends and work colleagues) most people buy clothes and such and that's been all that some of my friends have spoken about.

I've had a look at my list now and there aren't really that many "specific" items that I've included that I need. I think what I'll do is chat about it to my mom and MIL about it. Setting up on Babies R us online would be super convenient for me and I'll be able to go to Baby City in the three weeks prior to when the shower should be to make up a basket...

So maybe the best thing to do would be to put the specific items on a registry (like mattress waterproofing sheets, bottles, sleep positioners, etc) and then the moms can give other people the ideas for more "general" stuff like clothes, bibs, towels, toys, etc and the list of things that I don't need (like an after bath change mat, maternity pads, nappy bag). Hmmm. I think I've talked myself into it. I'll chat to my mom tonight.

Wow you Mommies have made me sooo anxious! I'll have to seriously get going on getting stocked up on baby goods. I've received lots clothes and "stuff" as gifts but I still need the big things such cot, travel system etc.

I made my own baby wrap and few (very cute) headbands for the babe. I have a few more ideas, but I don't know if I'll find the time :S I can't believe I'm 21 weeks already! Wow time flies...

I have found an awesome baby registry online which I'll send as a wishlist for the baby shower. I made a note at the top of my registry which says that the things on the list are not set in stone and and people must not feel obligated to buy the things on the list. You can add anything you want from any website. I added things from Makro, Dischem, Takealot, Babygroup and even Clicks. I love it!

Pillpusher, i only now remembered your previous post about the register...

It's actually very useful... I didn't have one with my first, cause I also saw it at a waste and didn't like the idea of "forcing" people into what or what not they can buy. So I ended up with a lot of "crap" I didn't want/need.

This time I arranged an online register @ Babies R Us. So I can just mail my "wishlist" to everyone. The nice thing is, they also have a gift card option, so in the mailer I send out, I'll put in a line saying " please consider a voucher if you're uncertain as to what to buy for baby". The voucher is R100, but they can choose the "quantity".

I also can't remember - is it Baby City or Baby Boom that will exchange still sealed goods if the stock it? Want to go and change some of the unisex goods I won for some "pink" stuff

Hi all

Glad to hear everything is fine, LM & Clueless.
How's your cat, Clueless?

After antenatal class last night I decided that I needed to start getting organised (also inspired by LouiseMarie's nicely sorted things). I started jotting down things for my birth plan, made a list of things we still need to buy (as in things I won't ask anyone to buy for a baby shower, like a dressing gown for me or the baby monitor since it's expensive) and started a nursery schedule to get the room ready. I told DH about it this morning (he had a migraine last night and was feeling super bad that he missed class) and said that I've made a plan so that the room is painted within the next four weeks so that he doesn't feel like I'm just giving him instructions to do everything at once. I figure that if we have a schedule then it's easier to stick to it than to just have this sort of airy fairy "I'll get to it" attitude.
