LouiseM, I'm glad you went and the dr could put your mind at rest. I've only gained 4kg, and with the stress of moving I actually lost 1kg, and thats part of the reason I started to worry when I felt I might be "leaking" fluid. The pelvic exam was far from pleasant but at least it put my mind at ease


Could you perhaps post a picture of your friend's cot, if she has one available?

Hi Mommies!!!

So I had to go for an unplanned check-up yesterday and got to see our "little" Larissa again!

Turns out our little madame is not so little anymore... in the past 2 weeks she went from 15cm to 25cm and from 160g to a whopping 355g!!! A whole week ahead of schedule

I became very worried with my "lack of weight gain"... Scared that it was in some way affecting her growth, but Dr said she's doing exceptionaly well and that there's no need for concern on my weight.

I've still only gained 2kg... and it's sooooo weird as by this time with Elmarise I was already @ 12kg! But I struggled terribly with water retention... this time - none thus far.

A friend of mine had a LB about 18months ago, and is in the process of wantingto get rid of a few things - so I'll be able to get some 2nd hand baby goods from her And luckily I know how she looks after things, do I know it will be in great condition.

She's in Jhb and also has a lovely cot she wants to sell.

Once she let me know, I'll post it here if someone is interested. Think she's based in Strubensvalley.

And I'm still finding somethings to rant about on my own part, so I've done another blog post. A "how to" guide for speaking about certain topics... especially after the number of people who thought they were being funny or cute when they ask things like "Are you sure there's just one in there?". I've gained 11kg already... I think some of it might be in my bum, but friends and family tell me they only see the bump.

Thanks Lauz and LouiseM. I hope we get this figured out. With my eldest we actually only decided on a name the day she was born, out of a few options. So we'll see...

LouiseM, I actually completely forgot about the butter under the feet trick Wish I had remembered. We just put her in the room for a few days and are now slowly opening her up to inspect the rest of the house and, as you say, familiar furniture. This weekend was her first trip outside. A very slow process but we don't want to lose our kitty. She used to be a feral kitten, and our previous home was situated next to Norscot Bird Sanctuary where she would go and "play" every day while we were at work. (we used to joke and called it Norscot Buffet ). So she is used to lots of freedom. Hope the new yard and trees are enough to keep her occupied.

Actually, as much as I hate tea, I also found chamomile very effective while I was breastfeeding. I even found it helped for my LG when she had colic, getting it through my breastmilk. After a while I just started giving her a milliliter of weak chamomile directly with a syringe and it seemed to relax her and calm the colic for a while.

@Leewe i try to buy a variety of sizes of clothing. and i have long and short sleeve vests in every size. with my lg i sometimes put a long vest over a short tshirt, coz you have to wear everything or else they just grow out of it without wearing it even once. Also i keep a list of everything i have so i know when i get in the shops what i still need some of, or what i will tell people to get for the baby shower.

@Pillpusher, a baby register is a good idea coz not everyone likes to buy clothes and most people would rather buy something they know you would need. AND baby city also puts your register on the internet so even if people prefer to buy it from someone else, they can still see whats in your bin and what you need. I never had a bin with my lg but i will def do a bin this time round!! Babygroup is a online site and you can also do a register on there!!

I always have a cup if chamomile tea @7pm to help me relax and sleep.
