Hi ladies

I've just come back from the Fetal assessment clinic and everything is 100%, apparently a textbook baby Feeling really great as I was getting myself so worked up before the scan. A very busy little body

With regards to natural birth, I've heard that being on all fours or squatting is the best position, but you obviously can't do it with an epidural? I also feel so clueless when it comes to birthing. Luckily our antenatal instructor is also a midwife and doula, so I'm hoping she will also give me insight. Did any of you 2nd time mommies use a doula?

Chrys, what Juanita said is true... Don't stress too much about it.

I was told with my first at 12 weeks already that I have a small pelvis and that natural would be dangerous - I very much wanted a water birth.

My LG was born at 4kg... And as mentioned, I was in active birth before they did a emergency c-sec.

I know for a fact, from my experience that either me or baby would have suffered terribly if I had gone natural.

Your gynae knows best and will advise you on the best way forward.

Either way - natural or c-sec: it's going to be stressful thinking of it ahead of time. Just remember why you're doing it!!!

@Chrys dont worry too much. Remember this is what our bodies were made to do!! We were engineered for this! Yes the pain is bad but MILLIONS of women have done it, and so can you!! And although it is painfull its over so quickly and you'll be holding your precious little angel! And trust me as soon as you see that face and those wrinkly fingers EVERYTHING else is just a blur!!

I must just add this, i was in labour for only 1.5 hours. so when my contractions started (the last 40 minutes or so) they came fast and furious!! by the time i told my husband, this is it, i cant do this anymore it was time to push!! and from there it was maybe 10 minutes and my lg was born!

Yes, its supposed to relieve the pain. i used it while i was in labour (during my contractions). you can carry it around with you (if need be).

@Juanita, what is the gas supposed to do? Ease the pain? Are you conscious ?

This is just my opinion!!! The gas does NOTHING!! I used the gas and my dh said hes sure he couldve seen the canister bend thats how hard i sucked it. Im convinced its just a gimick to take your attention off the pain.

But anyway, its a small gas canister they give you and its hooked up to a mask and you breath the gas in as needed.
