Hi ladies
Yes, I'm still hanging in here, just been following the conversation via email updates for the last couple of days. I went out with my mom on Wednesday and Thursday to deliver thank you cards and sort out the last few things for the nursery. I'd started typing out a long reply on my phone (from the comfort of bed since I decided to lie in this morning) and then I lost my reply when I tried to look at some of the photos and things in a new tab

So I got up to have some toast and cup of soup and pulled out my laptop - so much faster!
Regarding the omegas, they can cause thinning of the blood. It's not generally considered a major concern, from a practice perspective it's important for people that have poor blood clotting history or those on blood thinning medication like warfarin, heparin or clexane. I suppose that with our increased blood volume, it also seems like we bleed a lot more than normal (I recall how much blood poured out of a cut to my thumb just before DH and I went on holiday in July). @LouiseM - I don't think that the blood that's been in your urine is due to the omegas. That blood usually indicates inflammation somewhere in the urinary tract and omegas actually have anti-inflammatory problems. It is probably dose dependent, but I somehow think that given most first world countries recommend omega supplementation the consideration for increased bleeding would have been investigated. If you're not sure then chat to your own gynaes, but I don't think that the omegas play a huge role for 99% of bleeding problems in pregnancy. You can also always increase your intake of green leafy veg to increase your vitamin K intake if you're concerned (vitamin K is a clotting factor).
Aden's bicarb poultice sounds like a good idea for that bee sting. Eina. One of the scariest days of my life involved an irritated bee swarm two years ago - we almost lost one of our dogs

I got stung 4 times in the face, but fortunately the pumping adrenaline kept me from feeling too much pain. Even with taking a stat dose of celestamine (I had some because I'd actually been booked off work!) and getting a cortisone shot, parts of my face were still swollen for a few days. If the swelling continues, maybe you should call your gynae and ask about a cortisone shot, Louise? I'd be concerned about secondary infection if it stays so inflamed.
@Zandri - glad to hear that you're hanging in there. Praying that you can keep little bun Stephen baking for as long as possible.
@Clueless - the ladybugs are super cute. It's nice to see so many different ideas for nursery decorating. @Juanita, how are your polka dots coming along?
@HDVB - good to hear that you and Cara are doing (mostly) well. I hope she doesn't have reflux or colic though. Had so many friends/family with reflux lately. I'm really hoping that El doesn't have it, my medical aid is basically dried up now and with financial constraints already taking effect I really don't want to have to buy Nexiam
I can't remember everything that's been discussed

Otherwise I'm trying to take it a little easier today, although there's mess that needs to be cleaned and I'm feeling myself drawn to do some tidying.. DH is probably going to moan at me. I had a bit of an upset regarding my studies, after all the effort to try get stuff up and running before El arrives by going to meetings last Friday and on Monday it's now apparent that the data collection tools aren't suitable for the patient population because of cultural and language barriers

My promoter is quite positive that we can make things work still, but I'm trying not to think about it because I don't feel like I have the energy to give towards that side of things right now... it's four more sleeps until my c-section so that's monopolising most of my thoughts.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
