Hi all

@HVDB - so good to know you're doing well with little Cara. Too precious!

@Zandri - I also asked about detergent as a FTM. I've taken the advice given and am going to continue using the Omo/Skip liquid detergent and add vinegar as a softener. LouiseM and I think Clueless recommended that.

@Clueless - so sounds like your little one will also be getting a Jack  I'm not sure where my friend got it, she might have ordered online from the Disney store. Aside from a few items that we bought locally from a hobby shop that closed down a few years ago, most of my Nightmare before Christmas collectibles came from my CT friend and my best friend in France (the last stuff she got at EuroDisney).

@LouissM - you've been quiet! Glad Larissa is doing well. So sad about that other patient  Every little kick is a reminder of this amazing little life inside and those are the only things keeping me sane while playing the waiting game.

AFM it's my first day of maternity leave :woohoo: Although I did have to get up early to go to the main factory to chat to a lady in payroll this morning. I've been asking for an estimate for my maternity leave pay so that I can motivate for the bank to reduce my home loan installments while I'm on leave. So it was a bit of pain to get up, but was important to get it done. Tomorrow I have a meeting with role players in my research at a public hospital, then got to go to SARS (and be told how much to pay :( ), see the lady doing my UIF and go to the bank. At least I could come home and get back into my PJs and the payroll lady was super sweet. Just praying that my bank shows some understanding!

I had horrible RLP on Tuesday night and some again this morning, but suppose I can't complain too much since it hasn't been too bad before (aside from when I've been coughing).

Regarding Sudocream and Antipeol - both are highly recommended. I've got a whole load of different toiletry brands so just going to hope that El is like me and doesn't suffer from skin allergies in general (just occasional dryness). For the Oh Lief products, I've had the tummy wax for a while that my SIL sent for me. I preferred using the Palmers and Happy Event on my bump (can't see stretch marks so hoping it still holds true!). In the breastfeeding book I'm reading at the moment, it discusses the prep for breastfeeding (not about toughening up! Lol) but says to start using nipple cream a few weeks ahead to moisturize so I've been applying the Oh Lief wax since it says it can also be used as nipple cream.

@ Juanita - Thank you for the info. I have received two packs of huggies newborn so will try them out and then I have lots of pampers number 1 which is slightly bigger. I will try both and see what suits my boy better. But have decided not to buy anymore, first want to see what works. I have heard mixed comments on both brands. I will also try the baby staysoft. I want babies clothes to be soft but will use just a little at first. I must say that I thought staysoft was a big no-no. I feel so uneducated :S

@LouiseMarie - Happy to hear that your appointment went well. So sorry to hear about the other mommy  It is so very sad. This is one thing I have been most afraid of this entire pregnancy. To loose a child even if he/she is not born yet, is the most difficult thing I can imagine to go trough.

Hi mommies!

HVDB - sy's pragtig!!! Lekker popspeel... (ons almal wag in afwagting!)

Had my 32 week scan yesterday - since last scan 4 weeks ago @ 781g, she's now weighing in at a whopping 1.75kg! That would explain my binge eating... unlike some of you, I on the other hand can't STOP eating!

Dr had to send my urine sample away to the lab for analysis... From the beginning of my pregnancy I've had an infection in my urine. She says at this time it's now crucial to investigate as infection can lead to preterm labor... She'll wait for the results to make a call. But I'm going back in 4weeks and then we'll see how it's going.

Urgh...it was SO sad! As I was waiting to go in, the lady before me came out and then dr made a call to book her for an evac later the evening.

I just sat there and my eyes filled up with tears... Here I was sitting next to her husband/boyfriend with my beachball belly and Elmarise with me - and they just lost their baby... It just made me realise again how absolutely blessed we are to bring this special little angel into the world!!! God entrusted us with one of his angels... It honestly is such a blessing!!!

It's my babyshower Saturday - really looking forward to it!!! My brother spilled the beans yesterday that he will be coming down from Namibie to surprise me for my shower!!! Lol...we suck with keeping secrets!!! So come what may - at least I know we'll have a fun time :)

@Aden & Lauz I just bought the 1000mg evening primrose capsules. I take one in the morning and one in the eve and then (TMI alert) I also insert one in the vajayjay before bed time. The raspberry leaf tea i used to make my own ice tea and drink atleast 2 tea bags per day.

@Lauz ive seen the antipeol and ive also heard people swear by it but ive never used it!! Will get some to keep on standby.

@Zandri i only use the sensitive/newborn wipes as i hate the fragranced wipes!! As for nappies, you'll have to play it by ear! Most boy mommies prefer pampers, I never liked pampers, was a huggies gold mommy through and through!!
As for washing powder/liquid i got some woolite sensitive detergent and using babysoft stasoft and i quite like that there is a bit of a nice baby smell, but not too overpowering. And the clothes come out super soft. With you having a sensitive skin i would suggest woolite sensitive and then maybe just rinse with plain water or add a little bit of vinegar as a rinse aid??
I think @kimmy uses the vinegar??

Kimmy they have a stunning baby range I can't explain how awesome smelling the night cream is even my hubby loves it's, they have a room spray that helps babies (and my lg) to have sweet dreams and I swear she sleeps better if I spray her room with it!

Oh yes Juanita the pure beginnings is also in our household my lg just loves the toothpaste and I love the smell of the mosquito spray! Something we should all consider with this heat!!!

Thanks for the evening primrose and raspberry leaf tea idea I really can't imagine going through 2 days of labour again lol! When do you usually start taking it if I may ask?

Sudocrem I believe is really good but when I was told about antipeol it was my biggest life saver with bum and vagina rashes on my lg! It's an expensive little tube that has become a staple in our household!

Zandri i think not sleeping when baby is out is better than when you pregnant, atleast then no matter how hot it is you still have no extra weight!

Juanita i want to get sudocream aswel, havent used it before though

Hi HVDB

Just want to find out what wipes and nappies you are using and how they are working for you?
I still need to stock up on those. Each baby is different but I have a very sensitive skin and chances are baby will be like me.
I have bought some of the pampers sensitive wipes but have no idea how good they are. Oh and what detergent are you using to wash babies clothes and blankets? We use omo auto at home and I have read that it is safe to wash baby clothes but I worry that it may contain to mush chemicals so was just wondering.
