Hey Carmy

Yes time will be flying soon, I only went on the hospital tour last week after my scan, booked the bed and got a booking for the 4D scan sometime next week I think (Porridge brain, I wrote it down somewhere)

How are you feeling otherwise, is baby moving a lot?

I have not packed my bag yet, I think it will be done by 30 weeks, OMG that's next week, lol. I just bought half the stuff I need and baby needs, haven't put them altogether yet.

Hmmm the dreaded glucose test, lol, normally your gynae will test your urine for sugar and all the other stuff at each check-up, from about 24 weeks if they pick up too much sugar they may ask for you to have the glucose tolerance test (GTT) to test of you have a chance of getting gestational diabetes or have it already, normally the higher your sugar levels also means babies get fatter sooner and end up being bigger at birth, but generally after birth your body and sugar levels and babies returns to normal.

However more pregnancies thereafter you tend to pick gestational diabetes faster and tends to last longer as our body forget to break down whatever sugars it needs to.

So the test they make you drink a glass of water with a lot a lot a lot of glucose powder, sometimes the water is cold or warm of the sugar is not dissolving fast. I did the 2 hour test with both my pregnancies, so you must stop eating anything from 8pm the night before your test, they say you can sip a little water, but no meds or food after 8pm, then you go to the lab (I went early both pregnancies so I was first cause you going to be starving if you do this test, so about 8 am they draw a blood vile, you drink the yucky sweet sticky solutions (it's the hardest part for me), then they draw blood an hour later at 9am and then last blood at 10 am, you cannot leave their premises in the 2 hours, so take some company or things to keep you busy.

My first time, I got very drowsy after drinking the glucose solution and even my baby went high and then very quiet cause of the sugar rush, I had to lie down cause it made me so sleepy, but with the second baby, she just sugar high remained that way for the 2 hours, I was weak but not as sleepy tired as the first time.

When they get your results my gynae said btw 6mmol - 9 mmol (called incurred diabetes due to pregnancy not full on diabetes) which they ask you to control with your diet, 10+ they may recommend medication and it does depend which hour reading it was before they give you their recommendation.

I was told to reduce my sugar just in case anyway, which I have done, so at 28 weeks I had no sugar in my urine test whereas at 24 weeks it was higher.

Hope this helps.

Hello Beautiful ladies :)

Oh my goodness Zaza, that is so sad - Even got me in tears, I cant imagine going through anything like that, my SIL lost her first little one last year, she was 38weeks and 1day :( She got a blood clot in her umbilical cord. But on a happier note her second little boy turned 4 months today and he is such a cutie!

Love the bump pics :)

Wow, are you guys packing already? I suppose I am still 4weeks behind you, so I should start getting that done around 28weeks, maybe once we have done the hospital tour.
We have our 6month scan tomorrow - YAY!!! Feels like foreeeeeevvvvvvveeeeer since the last one.

Quick question - Can anyone telling me what the glucose screening test thing is all about? Just want to be prepared in case I need to do it tomorrow?

Have a great day ladies!!

Good Morning pregnant fairies and hope you are all well and your babies are starting to FATTEN up

@Dalene and Lashy, I am ok now, it took me a few days to de-traumatise myself, but I still pray for those parents and their little baby who chose to stay in heaven. As much as we try to stay positive, things like this do happen all we can do is pray for strength and understanding.

After the last check-up I haven't really done much for baby but starting to feel myself again and I'm sure I will have loads to do by this weekend:

So here's my update ladies:

Zaza - 29 weeks, Gender: It's a girl!!, EDD - week of 16 Nov (leaving it to later to decide on date and see how it goes), Delivery: c section, Name for baby: Zaina, last weigh in: 1.3KG @ 28 weeks.

Symptoms wise: More and more porridge brain, occassional nausea if I don't eat on time, very sleepy by 8pm, occasional heart burn (not with food it happens when baby is moving crazy inside me, think she is pushing my stomach juices up :-) ), thigh and leg pins and needles if I sleep too long on one side, and as of last night I had pelvic bone pains, not severe but uncomfortable, still eating normal!! I have done well only picked up 3KG so far but gynae said that will change very soon!!

Anyone else having any symptoms similar or different or strange ones

@Lashy Shew you had a hectic day, yday but you so awesome for helping your domestics daughter out!!! Well done, did your transfer for your house come through yet? Have you started packing?

@Dalene did you come right with the hospital bag list? Are you packing yet

I have half a bag packed for me and baby, lol

Please can you all update me on where you at with your pregnancy and when is your next scan and share some pics.

I am attaching 2 pics for you, my 28 week current bump and I found a bump pic of me 4 days before my LG was born so you can see how huge I got!! Unfortunately don't have a baby scan for you as the shots were not too clear.

Good Morning Ladies.

Been MIA for a while.
Well I am now 24weeks and still have alota movement. And I have a big round bump, will upload from my phone just now.

Zaza that is so sad :(

I was at a government hosp yesterday as my domestics daughter was in labour.

And was getting upset with how they treated one lady who came in, baby was literally coming out and they wanted her to go get her card from casualty 1st. She could barely walk. If another lady and I did not say anything about it they would never have brought a wheel chair for her. It is really sad what some people have to go through.

But anyway back to Sammy (domestics daughter) a healthy baby girl was born lastnight at about 10pm. She was in labour from 3am yesterday morning. :pinch:

Lol I am so glad I am going for elective C-sect. I don't think I can handle waiting for labour.

My new craving is cheese spread :) on provita, on bread, on anything even just a spoon lol. I stop to get melrose or kiri on my home from work whilst in traffic.. hehehe.

And how are you all doing?
