Unfortunately I'm in CPT, otherwise I would've recommended my gynae to you any day.
It is as BellasMom says, it can be slightly weird....but they ask those questions to at least 10 woman a day and see V-jayjays everyday

I found what worked for me what finding a gynae of similar age.
The male thing didn't work for me, then I attended a middle aged female for quite a few years. Then last year I told her we were thinking about little ones, then the 1st thing she did was look at my ring finger. I was sooo offended (we are not married but have been together for longer than some people have been dating and married- but that's besides the point)

I now have a younger female gynae and I really love going to her. There is that dr-patient relationship, but I don't feel judged. She is soft and makes me feel so comfortable by closing as much as she can but still allowing her to do her job.

Yes, internal scans at 1st....after all my annual gynae visits that is the norm for me now, but if they know this is your 1st time they will explain more.

Hope you come right.! Don't stress too much. There is a lot of other baby stuff you can rather worry about

BellasMom, until what week in the pregnancy do they do internal scans?

My next scan is on Wednesday...so excited!!!

Kirsten I am with a female doctor also because I am very uncomfortable with it. The questions are pretty personal at the first visit and they also tend to do an internal exam, and many doctors do a vaginal sonar if you are still under 10 weeks. Having said that, the experience really isnt that bad and it is over quickly. The doctors are very professional and have done it a million times.

I am in Upper highway, KZN area. My other problem is the fact I am only on Discovery Keycare plus. How personal are the questions they ask? I have no idea what to expect.

Did my blood tests at my local GP and he said they were good now I need to find a Gyne although I am stressing about that first appointment. Its sounds a little scary and I don't see myself being very comfortable at all and it seems I have to see a male and I don't feel comfortable about that, I really wanted a female. What to do when you a very nervous person.

This is my second, my son is 16.
Due 7 April according to Google
9 weeks 6 days and quite excited! / hasn't really sunk in yet as I found out a few days ago.
First app with Obstetrician is 27 Sep. Will do ultrasound and blood tests same day (I live 3 hours from a major town).
I'm on a hospital plan and so happy to receive news medical aid will pay all tests and visits - this is due to it being a 'high risk' preg due to my age (39), 2 miscarriages before and a prem, low birth weight previously.

Congrats to all the new pregnant women hear.

I went yesterday for my first scan. I am today 8weeks6days pregnant. We heard the heartbeat yesterday, it were so amazing, heartbeat were measured at 175. And then this little miracle decided that he/she wants to make mommy and daddy's day, so the baby starts to move, you just saw the tiny little foot kicking. He/She moved the whole time, the doctor said that it is not everyday that you see the baby moving so early.
