Z, I've been meaning to ask, please tell us a bit more about where you live. How did you come to move there? Will you be there just for a while before coming back to SA or are you there permanently? o you like it there?

Well they say a breastfed baby controls the amount of calories they take in. They eat when they are hungry & eat when they want to eat unlike a formula baby where u gotta decide when he eats, etc
So BLW becomes an extension of breastfeeding coz again baby decides how much he wants to eat, what he wants to eat & when.
Also BF encourages the chewing action in the way a baby sucks, with a bottle they suck differently. This chewing action helps with BLW as baby must chew, so they learn to chew quicker. I think that kinda xplains it.....

great its going well Hentjie!! Its amazing watching them eat neh? I love watching Ruru eat.

In some strange way, your answer makes sense to me lol. BUT I still won't be giving Jaqi finger food yet.

I must be honest and say that I think breast is indeed best! I love breastfeeding too, and so does my baby :-) Last night my husband said my breastmilk is a wonder cure, cause it calms Jaqi down instantly.

Yes, I BF (and love it)! It's the only fluids she's ever had and I hope to continue until she's at least a year old.

Not sure about your question. Will have to get back to you on that one... but it's true that BLW works best when you BF, because breastmilk is so nutritous, you can give it on demand and you have the foremilk for thirst and hindmilk for nutrition.

I don't know much about formula feeding, but if I understand it correctly you may only give a certain amount per day?

If I had decided to go the "mush" route, I would've made it myself as well. Then you know EXACTLY what's in it.

Glad it went well Lientjie. Are you breastfeeding too?

I have read in another thread, about the ec thingie, taht a mom said TRUE blw is when you do prolonged breastfeeding as well. I guess I am totally not "with it". Hehehehe. I don't give my baby "whole" food, but puree, I amde MYSELF, not store bought, and I am still breastfeeding at 6 months. Does that count as prolonged bf? So the only difference between me and a true blw mom, is that my baby etas puree, not whole food. So what if someone gives formula but gives their baby whole food? Is that NOT considered true blw? Sorry for all the questions, I was just wondering.

Morning Moomies!

The BLW was such a success! I'm so happy that our LG is eating so well. She's already had green beans, carrots and baby marrows. And she absolutely loves it! :cheer: Will start with fruits later in the week.

@EP - we'll only start with yoghurt at about 7.5 / 8months

@Zodwa - so cool about the rolling over! Not sure about the massaging. Would it work if he sits?

@KKRose - hope you feel better soon

@DaisyMom - hope it's nothing too serious. Let us know what the dr said.

Have a great day, ladies!
