Hi Dee! Glad it's going better!

Some of the things in the article I mentioned:

Common behaviour after new baby:
    Crying for no reason
    Clingy
    Agressive
    Sleep problems
    Testing boundaries
    etc

Do:
15 minutes alone with child every day
Ask family members to give more attention to LO, and not only to baby
Tell LO every day how much you love her and that there is only one like her
Involve LO with baby and praise loving behaviour

Don't:
Don't create the impression that baby will be a friend (will only happen much later)
Don't keep LO away from baby
No drastic changes for LO now
Don't leave LO alone with baby (might hurt baby)

Thanks Feb 09 momma and Rakker ;) Since the post things have gotten slightly better. DH and I have just been sticking to her routine as far as possible, and have brought bed time earlier, and we have noted an improvement.

Over the past 4 nights, we've had 1 bad one, which is not too bad. The other 3 she;s actually been sleeping through.

Her tantrums have also decreased now, and I can just sense that she is happier ;-)

This is great news for us ;-)

I am however down with the flu... which if course chose the worse time to rear its head ;-) DH is back at work as well.

Anyone know if there is any flu meds I can take while BF? The chemist has given me panado's only (thanks!) because DS is so small.

And now it seems that DS has also got a cold, his nose is badly blocked, and no salline or aspirator is working, shame....

If its not the one thing then its the other hey?

LOL

Hi Dee, I think Rakker is right, we don't know what you are going through right now, but know that we are thinking of you, hang in there and once they can play with each other you will then realise that it was the best thing that could have ever happened!

At least when the rest of us gets our second LO, you will be here to listen and give advice, right now we don't have advice but know that we will listen!

Don't be so hard on yourself. If people wanted to avoid upsetting a first born, nobody would have had more than 1 child. I did read in the August "Baba en kleuter" how a second baby affects the first, and it's perfectly normal, although a bit daunting.

You have all my sympathy and I will think back to this post the day there is a second one for me... Good luck and hang on. It must get better at a stage.

Hi all,

Where is everyone?

Monica, I swear my LO has discovered her personality and is acting out all over the show LOL

She seems to love her new little brother, loves hugging and kissing him, but she has also started acting out at night, and I am at my wits end... would love some advice...

She has now started waking up at night.. a few times, and wont stop crying even if one of us comes into the room. We will then lie next to her, and then eventually she will calm down. She is for some reason wide awake, so it takes her forever to go back to sleep again, and as soon as we get up, she wakes up and starts crying again.

This coupled with a newborn who is up every 3 hrs is not helping my sleeping!! LOL Hubby is a major help. but he goes back to work next week, and if this continues, he wont be able to get through the day without a 6 pack red bull ;-)

She has also started throwing these tantrums, and I dont know where they coming from. If she cannot get her way, she will scream in this new high pitched scream and throw herself down on the floor.... please tell me this is normal behavior??

I am going insane here thinking that she is acting out cos of the new baby, meaning that this is all my fault... *sigh*

I hope this blows over soon.

hey there
Shoo, what a week so far!
Busy busy busy!

Dee, your kids are too cute!
Feb 09 - Your Lg is cute too.
Rakker - those eyes are beautiful!

So what is news with your LO's and you?
My LG is getting such a personality and if she could run a 100m sprint with the rest of the kids her age, I am sure she will win.
:P She is so fast - I cringe when she comes around the corner too fast in case she falls.
She fell on her face on sunday - got a nice bruise on her forehead! :(

I am glad that summer is coming - :woohoo: cant wait!

Taking my LG to the ENT for a check up on her ears/grommets. And to get a script from the ENT for her asthma meds so hopefully the medical aid will pay for that

Hope you guys are all well and LO's too!
