Monday they didn't feed, Athena had to be on oxygen as she was grunting a bit when born, which she came off early hours this morning. I went there at 2h30am to deliver some milk and she was off it already, we thought that they were going to take it off some time today and replace it with the normal pipes that hook around the ears. Tuesday they were on 2ml milk/hour, yesterday when I went past to drop milk off the nurses laughed at me and said I need to express more more cos they are now on 4ml/hour. This morning when I went past there, they were increased to 8ml/hour, so my babies are doing so, so well. Iv been trying to express every 3 hours, but at the hospital its difficult to do so, so now while Im at home and can do it more and get a routine going for myself.
The Paed is very happy with them, all we need to wait to come off it the drips, they obviously still have alot of wires attached to them but thats to monitor their vitals etc. I cant wait for the wires to be off so we can hold them properly. We held them today and it was so surreal (as was the whole experience this week), no words can describe. Alessandro and Alexia look alike, Athena is very different, she is alo chubby compared to brotehr and sister.
Alexia was the only one that had dropped her weight after birth, Athena and Alessandro stayed the same, well, Alessandro went from 1620 to 1600, but at least they dont have all that extra weight loss to catch up plus get to 1.8/2kg. yesterday the paed said that they need to pick up weight and maybe....... 10-14 days they can come home!!! WHOA!! That made me very happy, but more because it means they are doing well, I told him that we weren't expecting them to be home before 3 weeks, so as long as it takes for them to be spot on to come home is best. Dh is so so soooo happy and excited, I wanted to burst into tears when he held his babies for the first time, he isn't one to hold newborns, but when I phoned him this morning to let him know we can, oh man, you should of heard the excitement, it really is priceless.
My MIL and my sister went to see them yesterday and Christmas day we going back there, I really cant wait to take my father now, the first thing he said when he came past was "where's the babies?", lol, I looked at hom and asked if he was proud of me cos he didn't think I would manage to carry the 3 and that they will all be fine. I cannot believe I did it, I tell you what tho, last week was a big battle.
Ok, dont want to give too much away for the birth story, you know me, flip, I type too much! LOL.
Im gonna go express now (a little late already - thank you very much!!) and then just rest!! Maybe will come on later.
Many hugs from me and my three
