Hi all!
I have a few minutes - supposed to be resting - dont tell DH! He is so worried about me. I am doing so so, not great. I was soooo nauseous last night. Since Saturday, I have basically had 2 cups of soup and a sandwich (a bit of one). I just cannot eat. I am hungry, but when I swallow, it feels like there is a huge hole in my tummy where the food drops into. I am so thirsty all the time, so drinking a lot. But today I have managed a slice of toast, piece of watermelon and half a Vienna. Just a little nauseous but not as bad. The c-sec wound, eina etc is not that bad anymore, but my leg... the thrombosis runs from my knee, over my thigh and up into my groin. All along where I had a terrible vein which was worse with this pregnancy. Chan - you mentioned the veins and swollen feet - I was the same. PLEASE PLEASE be careful. After my waters broke, my ankles were beautiful - I had ankles again - and then on day 2 they started swelling and the leg got bad. My whole thigh is hard and red, I dont know how to describe it. They said it will get worse before it betters. I am not even supposed to walk from the hospital entrance to the NICU - am supposed to go in a wheelchair.. how embarrassing all the time!
Now to Nathan-John... he has picked up weight since Monday and now weighs 1820g. The Dr is really happy and says it is only time now. The expressing is going well, although difficult to do when you dont actually have your baby with you... but I just try to think of the advantages of it for him and imagine the day he is able to suckle and start drinking from me. They try give him a few drops in the mouth, but he fights it, so for now, tube feeding is the way to go. But I know it wont be forever. We had a terrible sister looking after yesterday and I felt so clumsy. I dropped the surgical spirits and wasnt holding the feeding syringe properly... argh. I felt like a 16 year old! She is 34 weeks pregnant, due mid Jan - same as I was. So maybe its just hormones - DH says she shouldnt be looking after babies! Today is better, although I only spent an hour there. Going back later. My mom had to go home now, she has been very good to us, but I feel so dependent on everyone. I used to be a perfectionist in everything until Sarah came along, and now after Nathan, I really dont care how things are done. The life lessons we learn... DH said this morning, maybe we'll win the lottery one day, and I said, it wouldn't change our situation, so they can keep their millions. I have been blessed in he last week with a strong fighting boy! It could have all turned out so differently.
I forgot to say in my last post, the Dr said the rupture of membranes (water breaking) is difficult to diagnose, but it could have been an infection. Either internally, ie blood or amniotic fluid or more likely an infection from he vagina - either recently or long term. Actually with my first pregnancy I suffered from urinary tract infections but nothing this time. Anyway, he assured me, the membranes would only rupture in a case like this is it was meant to be. It was nothing I did or could have prevented.
Enough about me...
Chris- you are doing amazing! Hang in there! I cannot imagine how uncomfy you are! But everyday the A-team is inside you, the less they will be in NICU!
Vix - thanks for your encouragement! I also feel for you. Re-mother situation, I fully understand. But I cannot imagine how split you must feeling. Hope you are able to juggle the visiting times and do what you thing is right. There is only so much you can do. How is Jono today? And Alex? I wish we could just "check in" to the hospital and actually stay there! It would be so much easier and less to worry about! But I must say I prefer my bed (also a Simmons). I wish I had been able to help you more!
Maryke - I am sure that your little ones are keeping you busy! How is your little girl? She must be so excited! Hope the domestic works out and that MIL is helping...?
Ster - shjoe, almost time, hey? I hope DH gets his travels sorted out. Mine was supposed to be in Nigeria this week, can you imagine if all this had happened this week! I thought I was strong enough to cope, but we really do need DH at our side! Thinking of you!
Lizelle - its not easy being apart from your LB, but he is having a fab time! Soon he'll be home again. Try rest as much as possible!
Binks - how terrible for the school. I hope you will be taking it further! Let us know. Try not to beat yourself up about it, at least you can put it behind you now! Binks, those BH are so confusing!
Asp - enjoy the 2 months. The time flies! Look after yourself! When is your LG's birthday again?
Yvette - you look beautiful in your pics!
Carmen - hope you are well. Its amazing how the reflux and heartburn just goes away the minute the babay is born. Its like you never had it! Hope the wind dies downs for a few days to let you do some cleaning - but take it easy!!!
Marie - how was your appointment?
I am probably forgetting half of the things I wanted to say, but I am following the thread through my inbox. Its the only thread I am now subscribed to. LOL, DH downloaded emails on Saturday and there was something like 100 from Moomie - all just different things....
I am going to try to load a pic here, but my facebook page has more. Natalie Lawrence nee Nathan.
Thanks again for everyone's support! You are all truly amazing! Take care of yourselves and chat soon!
love and hugs, Nats xxx
