Wow i can't believe it's almost our turn to start giving birth. It seems just yesterday we were all complaining about MS and just wanted to get the first trimester over and done with.

Am i the only one who finds it funny that playtex makes baby bottles! I saw them on the Edgars catalogue and just got the giggles!

Shopping was a huge success yesterday.

Esmari, R2500 on late penalties and charges from SARS sounds a bit much? Yes you must follow it up with your accountant, cause they should have let you know.

Solo, kariehn is right, nurseries are more for the parents. I'm sure by the time he's old enough to appreciate it, you will have more space and will be able to decorate it with his fav colours and cartoon characters etc.

Re: stretch marks, i haven't got any new ones so far, but i noticed that the ones i got during puberty have become dark again??? Hope it stays this way, anywhere but my tummy and boobs PLEEEEEASE!

Kariehn, One thing pregnancy has taught me is that we all express love differently. After all this time of worrying that hubby doesn't care about the baby as much as i do or he isn't bonding with him. I finally realised that he has his own way of caring and bonding with us and it is nothing like what i wanted or thought it would be but the minute i started noticing and accepting the way he bonds with us, it has just become so joyous. E.g my hubby is very shy, so he doesn't talk to the baby unless i nag him and he'll say one word and that is it! But, he massages me every night, he reads up on the baby's nutritional needs and buys me thes yucky stuff (Most of which i end up chucking in the bin). He knows the types of car sits available, he spends so much time just looking at the baby's scan pics (i can't even tell what's what). Hours reading about parenting (I haven't even read the book my sister gave me). He already has a schedule of how we'll take turns caring for the baby. He has this idea that once the baby is 6 months old he'll take him with when he visits his friends so i can have time to myself. It took me six months to notice and appreciate all these things. But now that i have, i wouldn't have it any other way.
And from what you are describing, it sounds to me like you also have yourself a very loving man who's excited about the baby.

Solo and BettyF, I bought a grobaby sling at Babyboom for R200. It's a really pretty turquoise striped woven cotton and one of the over the shoulder slings. My DH can't wait to wear it with the baby because, he says, it's going to be a babe magnet , so maybe I'll go and exchange it for a pink one. hehe. But I did look at the other slings that wrap around you body and they just look so hot and like they would be very difficult to use. I also like the baby sense one that is similar to mine but at a R325 just too expensive. Mr Price has slings that looks exactly like the Baby Sense slings but they are R129 (and not as pretty as mine .

Esmari, R4000 is a lot of money - hope you get it sorted out.

Solo, I think nurseries are more for the parents than the baby, he's not going to mind where he sleeps and I'm sure you'll give him the best home and most love possible.

I was wondering how everyone's partners are bonding with your baby? I few weeks ago I was constantly biting my tongue because I felt like DH wasn't bonding at all and often seemed to forget that we are going to have a baby soon - but I didn't want to make an issue of it and tried not to say anything.

But he seems much better lately and talks to Keagan and about when we have him. He actually seems excited! And the other day we were in a baby shop and everytime we looked at something with a picture of a baby on he'd go 'aaah, that is so cute'. I couldn't help but laugh because it's so unlike hime, but at least he seems to be getting 'broeis'.
I know it's different for men, but with all these hormones raging in my body, it's sometime hard to understand and keep quiet.

I nearly posted at 4am this morning!! But then I managed to fall asleep again.

Baby is also right up under my boobs and I have no lung space left. I feel like a puffing billy.
I have quite a short torso so at 26 weeks I have no more room left - now I'm just going to expand outwards. I was rubbing Bio-oil on my bump this morning and my mom saw my naked bump and we had a good giggle about how big I am And BF is now loving my bump - yay. it makes such a big difference to me when he lovingly puts his hands on my bump to feel the baby. He wants to finalise the name choosing now so that he can start calling his son by his name. So I gave him a list of the top 100 names and we both have to choose five that we like and then we will compare notes! Let's hope we can settle on a name quickly!

TaNasha re the stretchmarks. I don't have any yet, but I did get a lot at puberty so I doubt that I am going to escape them now. And I haven't been the most religious at the tissue oil thing! I have thse thin veins running almost horizontally from my back across to my belly and every time I see them in the mirror my heart stops - I think it's the start of stretch marks.
Talking about marks, has anyone got a "linea nigra". I have absolutely no sign of one. And I sooo want to get one my belly button is now also almost an "outie" or should I just say it is flat at the moment, but I can see it's starting to protrude. hehe.

Betty_F the only time I had probs uploading a pic was when the pic file as too big, but if you already decreased the size then I don't know Sorry I can't help hun. Maybe the pics that you upload don't show up in preview mode? I don't know - I never use preview!!!

Yeah, I wonder who will be first? Can't believe it's nearly time for some of you!

Why do I feel as if I am depriving my baby because I don't have a nursery? My baby will share my room but my bedroom is so small - there isn't even room for a cot. I have such a small house, but it suited me fine before. I do have a nice big garden for my son to play in because I'm not living in a complex. I wish I had a spare room in my house, but my mother is in the second bedroom so that is that. But I sooo wish I could have one of those gorgeous nurseries that you see in magazines! I was looking at the Baby Bliss online shop yesterday and I was drooling!!! I wish the nesting instinct would hit me so that I can start sorting my room out for the baby. It's going to be a tight squeeze and I'm going to have to clear a lot of my clothes out.

Rakker, my dh is one of the good men. I can be overweight, and it would not bother him. (did not) He loves me, and not my body. My dad on the other hand keeps telling my mom to loose weight. Dont think they can even remember when was the last time they did it.
Oh, and congrats on the anniversary! 14y! Wow! I am halfway there!

Msdee, did you enjoy the shopping? You must try to sleep with a pillow between your legs, and one under your belly. That will help support your tummy.

Solo, those dreams are quite weird. And whats strange, had one again last night, after dh made sure I was taken care of. Heehee. So it has nothing to do with being 'orgasm deprived'.

Tanasha, glad app went well. When are you seeing the specialists about the lip? Regards strechmarks. You either get them, or you dont. No ammount of oil is going to prevent them. Unfortunately. I look like a strechmark factory after my first, and I tried very hard to prevent. They say by using oilr and creams, you can make them better though.

Karien, I hear you on the oxygen levels. I am not that big yet, and struggle to breathe sometimes - it takes xtra to inhale the same ammount.

Betty_F. Wow, almost y6ur time to give birth! Wonder who is gonna be first.

About the bottles, if its cleaned and sterilised it wont make a diffirence. Just use new teats off course.

Afm. Had a panick attack yesterday. Sars wants flippen R4000 from dh. The tax itself only R1500, but looks like the year before our accountants didnt mention an xtra ammount that needs to be paid, and now there is late charges and penalties added. But our new acc said that they will do everything to make sure action is taken against those accountants. I am so mad. I need that damn money!

Those Uif forms are the pits, every day I say I must do them and never get round to it.
I have never seen the playtex bottles, must go and have a look. I used nuk bottles with M. I still have them- do you think it's unhygienic to hand them down to new baby?

Esmari- bet you are glad the move is behind you. Try take it easy now.. Not too much weight gain.I think I have gained 8 or 10 kg. Will get my weigh in next week again.

MsDee hope you are sleeping better. I sleep with one of those big banana like preggy pillows, once baby is here you can use it for feeding. It does offer some relief.
How did the shopping go? Did you get what you were wanting to get?

Solo- I was thinking the same thing about rather having stitches in my tummy. I told my Gynae that I was not keen on having a c section because of the recovery. And he too said that either way there will be a recovery- either from tearing or being cut down under.
Glad. You are feeling better, hope the phisio today helped even more.

TaNasha- So pleased your appointment went well. I tried to upload a picture of baby shower yesterday, but was unsuccessful. I am not sure what I am doing wrong... Can anyone help? I decreased the size, then selected image to attach. But when I clicked preview, it was just blank?

Karienh - glad the shopping is going well. What kind of sling did you get. I love slings- baby can sleep and be close to Mom.

AFM - starting to feel slightly uncomfy. The 1.5 hour drive to town everyday is beginning to be a strain. But I am not complaining. Still loving being preggers. Tummy is just starting to sit too high now.

PhillipaJane - I'm also jealous about the homebirth. I was planning on one but it didn't work out with my medical aid and available hospitals. I do hope everything works out and that it's a great experience!

Rakker, Congrats on the anniversary. Glad you had a great night! Ritrovo is one of my favourite restaurants - the food is always sooo good.

Esmari, glad the worst part of the move is over. Just take it easy and try to relax - before you know it it will feel like you've lived there forever, even if you don't unpack everything!

My husband loves my pregnant body and finds it sexy - stretch marks and all - my problem is that I've had very little 'lusgeid' throughout my whole pregnancy and we've been unable to find a position that's comfortable for me. So we've been doing all the other things, but the poor man has definitaly been through a dry period. luckily my lus seems to have picked up the last 2 weeks, but it's not what it should be yet.

MsDee, I hear you on the tiredness. Yesterday I felt like crawling under the bed and crying from tiredness - and that was before lunch. I'm def going to ask my dr to test my iron when I see him again. I've started putting a pillow under my stomach when I sleep, it helps a bit with the discomfort.

Solo, so glad you found something that works for your back! Hope the results last longer the more you go.

AFM: Baby has now managed to take up most of my lung space (or so it feels) while still kicking my bladder and cervix - don't know how he does that! I have been so good about shopping for the baby and feel like a great person everytime I can tick something of the list. Bought a really pretty sling this morning.

The Playtex bottles are really nice. You get 2 different inners. One that fits neatly, with just a bit of an edge that goes between the bottle and ring. I found that with powdered milk and having to shake the bottle, you just have to make sure the inner is properly over the edge of the bottle, otherwise the milk lands up on the floor. The cheaper liners I actually liked better. You basically pull the plastic over the bottle. The latter is a softer plastic and the accuracy of the measurements (indicated on inner) is not perfect, but I used to weigh on a digital scale in any case. What I liked about the bottles were the following:

-Easy to clean the bottle and you actually don't need to sterilise that part if you think about it.
-If baby is reluctant to suck for some reason (my preemie struggled with sucking in the beginning), you can actually press the inner with your finger to "force" baby to drink.
-Baby won't swallow air, because the inner just collapses and no vent is needed.
-The teat's shape is a more natural shape (Avent shape) and was accepted immediately by LB.
-Warming the bottle in boiling water is much quicker as the water will be in direct contact with the liner, which is thin. Be careful of overheating, because it happens so quick.

It works out more expensive in the end, but I will still use it.
