MsDee I soooo hear you on the washing story!! That was exactly what I told my mom when she strongly suggested going the green route. Hmm and the washing? Oh easy peasy she said - you have a Speed Queen. Hmmm I'm not convinced!! I don't do poos very well, let alone wash pooey nappies.

To be honest I feel as if I have just got my BFP today!! I'm grinning from ear to ear and I keep on telling myself that I'm having a son. A normal baby boy, none of this trying to prepare myself for bringing up a Down Syndrome child on my own etc etc. When the sister called with my news I was in the bath so I had to call her back, and she said in a very happy voice that "the chromosomal characteristics are for a normal male" Heartbeat.... stop.... heartbeat!! I'm having a boy!! And everything is fine!
I've told everyone that I know and then some... BF will tell his family and friends in his own time. I had to block his mom from seeing my happy news post on FB this morning. I don't want her to find out from FB. But who knows whether she actually cares or not? She hasn't said a word to me about the pregnancy yet.

Oh I keep on meaning to thank you ladies for that link to that amazing blog about the lady who had a DS daughter. You were soooo right. Tissues were required. Beautiful story, beautiful photographs. Wow.

I will definitely need to go to antenatal classes as I am embarrassingly clueless! OH, gosh I forgot to share this with you ladies. When I went for my amnio, after I arrived they sent me off to empty my bladder and BF sat down in the waiting room. I came back and we went into the Dr's office. BF produced a brochure for me and I was in such a state I didn't look at it. He said to put it in my bag and I did and promptly forgot about it. Later on, after the amnio when I was lying in bed at home I remembered the brochure and took it out of my bag to read it. I was sooo touched to see that it was a brochure on childbirth classes. It brought tears to my eyes that this stubborn donkey of a man had thought of me and our child and he wanted me to go to childbirth classes. He isn't sooo bad after all I told myself - "give him time, he is coming around, look he even brought you this brochure" Then I opened the brochure to read it and another smaller brochure fell out. Wow, two brochures!! I was impressed! He does care after all OMW the second brochure was for Jasmine BC Pills. Soo, have the baby and then make sure you get onto the pill ASAP!!!! Men......

DebbieF, 28w! That is far. I decided to not take antenatal classes even though it's our first. I do panick sometimes thinking i am not at all prepared for birth (mostly cause i choose not to think about it, you know, bum in the air, head in the sand. LOL). Do you feel it really prepared you for the real thing? Was it worth it for you? Please tell us about it.

I don't know who brought up the subject of cloth nappies, but here's how it went for us. We read articles on the benefits of using cloth nappies, which all sounds good. But the question of who's gonna wash these nappies came up. And that was the end of that discussion.

Karienh, That is so exciting. A new home! Enjoy the decorating and shopping etc. You're really gonna be busy the next few months.

I actually think it's a good thing in a way that most of us have put off the shopping till now. I hear the last few weeks of pregnancy can really drag on, so the shopping should keep us busy.

Solo! Please come tell us how you're feeling now that the news have sunk in! I wanna know, i keep imagining you walking around smiling from ear to ear

I wish I was as disciplined as you with your finances! I should start putting spare cash away instead of wasting it on trivial stuff.
I also can't believe that I'm two weeks shy of halfway! I hope the second half slows down because its all happenng soo fast
I love waking up every morning and lying on my back with my hands on my bump. Its so nice to feel it getting bigger everyday and also feeling how far away from my belly button it is. This morning it is also suddenly right under my belly button my son is growing hehe

BettyF I can't believe you are 28 weeks! Wow!! Thanks for the advice re the nappies. You experienced mommies are such a huge help

Karienh I am glad to hear that some day care centres do take babies in terry nappies. I'm in such a quandary about whether to go green and save or just to go the easier route with disposables.
I'm going to have to do some more research... Lol sitting on the fence....hmmm

Thanks everyone for all your support, love and joy you have shared with me at my news!! Now I can shop for team blue. I'd better stop wearing pink - I don't want to confuse my son now!

BettieF - I forgot to say that I'm glad your scan went well.

I keep forgetting that we should do antenatal classes. What did they teach you during your last pregnancy? And where did you do them?
