Solo - I understand esp. about the washing, I'm not looking forward to that and I'll be at home.

I know that some daycare facilities will use the cloth nappies as long as it's the prefolded type and they don't have to wash it.

Karienh I'm playing with the idea of cloth nappies. What worries me is that most (or all) day care facilities won't take baby if not using disposables. I shudder at the volume of disposables in the rubbish dumps and also cloth nappies are cheaper in the long run.
I'm just not sure how much time and energy I'm going to have for all the washing though! I must be realistic about it all
Another thing - my elderly mother has to sometimes wear the full adult diapers and she says they are VERY uncomfortable and she feels very sorry for babies. Hmmmm, what to do? What to do!!!!

Hi Everyone - Its so good to hear how you're all doing well en growing! Sorry I've been missing for a while - it's been busy and I've been lazy about typing.

I hear you all on being uncomfortable - the scary thing is that we're just getting started. I'm lucky not to have any swelling yet but had my first back pain yesterday.

MsDee, I've hardly bought anything, just a few sets of clothes and some wetwipes. But last week I went to Exclusive Books' sale and bought about R500 worth of books for this baby....I'm not sure if that counts as preparing for you baby.

Rakker, at the moment I just want time to slow down - I know I'm just over halfway but it just seems to be so close and there's so much that must still happen.

Are any of you considering cloth nappies? I'm 99% sure we're going to use cloth nappies. Right now I like Bam+Boo the most, but I still have to make a final decision. If any of the second (or third, etc) time moms have any advice or experience with cloth nappies I'd love to hear it.

That's it for now, will try be post more regularly. Sorry there's not a lot of personals but there's just too much that happened while I wasn't posting.

Solo, you crack me up! I don't think there's a way of doing anything elegantly anymore for any of us here! I find myself walking like a duck sometimes cause the baby just decides to descend and sit right on top of my bladder!

Rakker thank you! This is a huge help for me. First time mommies like me are all clueless. Ask me anything about dogs, cats or esp horses and I'll be able to help!! But babies are foreign territory to me! I've never changed a nappie in my life! I aways swore that the first one I change will be my own LO's so I never gave up hope that I'd be a mommy

I'll hold thumbs for a perfect pink baby . I used more size 2 than size 1, but I think I used at least 4 of those small size 1 packs and a big pack. I honestly can't remember how many there are in any of those packs. But my LB didn't gain weight like he was supposed to due to me not having enough milk, so I can't say how it will be with your LO. I guess you are playing it safe if you go with 2 of 72 for each and get more size 3. They stay on size 3 for quite some time, same with size 4.
