Karien - I only did the scan not the bloodtests. Are you high risk that this is a concern for you? just curious

Solo - they check the neck at 13 weeks scan and that will give you indication of risk - so don't worry til then

At last I have some time to come and read everything. But now I had to read so much that I can't remember enough for personals. Oh well, let's see what I can remember.

Welcome Angi*! It's about time you joined us. Welcome to the other new person, karienh I think (I told you I can't remember much).

I think I am officially in the honeymoon phase. The MS is gone and the head aches also seem to be a thing of the past, although I think it will haunt me a few more times still. Even the bad after taste seems to be almost gone.

If you do not plan to terminate if positive for Downs, it is still nice to be prepared, to know what you will face. I am glad I had mine done, because now I know my risk is low and that I don't even have to go for amnio. I am 37, so my risk was already higher due to my age.

Weeskind - I glad it went well and that you could see and hear something! Our first scan made it all seem real and sink in.

I'm torn in 2 about the DS tests. We're also not going to terminate if it is positive, but I would really like to know beforehand for us to prepare ourselves. But at the same time I don't want to do any invasive tests. So there is almost no way to know for certain. And if they just tell me there might be something wrong, I'm going to worry for the next 6 months.

Does that make any sense?

We'll def do the scan but I think we're going to skip the blood test. Because, like Niknaks said, I think it's going to be expensive. We already did some bloodtests and according to Discovery we're going to pay R1000 just for those.

About the symptoms: I'm glad I'm not the only paranoid one. I really want to feel like my old self again, but as soon as I start feeling better I start to worry that somethings wrong.

Niknaks, how far along are you? I can't wait to feel the baby!

So the scan went very well! My calculations according to the internet was 100% correct. My due date is still 31 May.

Little Bean is 3.42 cm long and 162 heartbeats per second . Ooooh the sound of the heartbeat was the most beautifull sound I have ever heard!!!

Who is going for the downs test? I REALY don't want too, but DH wants to. There is NO way on earth that I will terminate the pregnancy if the tests are positive???!!!
