So today is the day for my scan

Why do you have to have a full bladder for a scan? My app is 9.30 so I decided to not go to the bathroom this morning but then I could not help, other wize it would be to late so now I am scared that it won't be full enough. Last week when I went to the GP I went to the bathroom at 8am and my app was only for 12:00 and then the GP said my bladder is not full enough.
I am drinking water and tea, so hope it helps. Last week the doctor made me drink like 2lt water all at once so it all came flying out my mouth in front of the whole waiting room REALLY do not want to go through that again!!!

Hello all! I hope you've all had a good day. I've been busy, but promise to catch up in the morning, since I'll be off (for a change).

karienh, the blood tests basically tell you your "chances" of having a baby with Down Syndrome.... like 1 in 23 000. And yes, as ertjie said, they do the scan at 13 weeks to check the thickness of the baby's neck, so I think only if the blood tests show a higher chance of DS, then they "worry" more about it at the 13 week scan, although it is routine to check it anyway on the sonar. The only problem is that the blood tests are VERY VERY VERY expensive. With my first (and that was nearly 3 years ago) we paid R 550 for DS ONLY. 3 or 4 weeks ago, they drew blood for HIV/ Iron and DS... I'm expecting a R 1000 account

I'm a bit paranoid as usual. My morning sickness is practically gone. I'm sure I feel little flutterings down yonder, but I'm so scared... and paranoid... because I don't feel nauseous. With my previous pregnancy I only stopped gagging at 16 weeks. BUT I'm 99.9% sure it's the baby that I'm feeling.

I got home an hour ago from our school christmas concert. I played a saxophone solo and I was so nervous I wanted to but luckily I was 5th on the programme... and I didn't make any mistakes.. phew.

Well my morning sickness (which was the WHOLE DAY LONG) has suddenly stopped! THANK GOODNESS!

Between that the the fatigue I was really useless to everyone!

Hi all, hope all is well, Clair im paranoid over every cramp or pain etc, u understand how i feel, all keeping me sane is knowing in 6 months im holding my precious angel, dh has been a darling so far, keeps reassuring me everything is going to b well. This pregnancy is in the Lords hands... Icw the downs test we decided against it no matter what the results are we will cherish this baby, every baby is a gift. God bless each and every 1 of u...

karienh -welcome - I have been for the blood tests on 10 weeks, and also went for scan on 13 weeks where they check for Downs.
It is really up to you if you want to go for bloods, because with the scan they can also check for downs.
The doctor didn't even mentioned the results of the blood and only after the scan said that everything is normal.

So wish it was Friday today!!!
