Patty- oh my, no I certainly didn't intend on making it sound easy, it's methodical, hectic busy and exhausting but with a good routine and some match sticks for the eyes it's do able. Goodness knows how Chris copes with 3 newborns.

Hapi- here's the thing, there's no use in stressing because that will not change the circumstances so just try to enjoy the pregnancy as much as possible, ask as many questions as you want (Chris, maryke and myself are pretty laid back honest people to answer your Q's) and try to prepare your self mentally for the difficult task ahead. By the time you get there you'll be surprised it wasn't as bad as you expected. Have you seen the DVD "in the womb multiples" ? Really a great DVD explains a lot, I watched it many times during my pregnancy.

It makes sense now, i literally live on the internet hence im freaking out. I suppose what u girls are saying is true, u do manage 2 cope somehow. My gynae said 2 me the other day that these TWO shall pass- just like everything
else in life.

I agree with Chris, you really don't need 2 of everything, we already had one of everything and just added the few things we do need extras of like car seats, cot, bottles, clothes but you only need 1 bath, 1 changing mat, things like that because trust me it's very hard to bath 2 babies at the same time even if hubby helps.

Feeding is going to depend on how you want to feed but keep an open mind. I wanted to exclusively BF but Jono was in NICU for 17days and they gave him bottle so he wouldn't accept the breast when he came out. Then I was expressing the whole time, bottle feeding Jono and Breast feeding Alex but unfortunately jono was super demanding and I was constantly putting Alex on and off the boob to see to Jono and with BF you can't do that, it makes it too difficult to feed so eventually I was expressing for both and bottle feeding. I expressed til 6w with enough milk to last til 8w but when hubby went back to work I just didn't have the time to express anymore so they're on full time formula now. Premies and low birth weight babies have to be fed every 3hrs and when you're feeding 2 or 3 it can take an hour or 2 to actually feed and burp so you can imagine how little time there is for anything else. I was feeding one after the other but it was just wayyyyy too time consuming especially being on my own during the day with a toddler too so I made these bean bag pouufe's that I lay them on and I feed them together. I'll take a picture one day and load it. My boys actually drink much better on the poufe's now than in the arms, it supports their whole body. Nicely. Ultimately I think the key to feeding is to keep an open mind and see what works for you with your own circumstances.

Bathing, I have been using the sink until. Now because they have just been soo small but now it's time for the baby bath to come out. I bath one, dress him and take him to daddy to feed whilst I bath the other then feed him myself. Or when we bath the toddler one of us will get in with him, I'll then take him out dress him then take twin 1 to bath with daddy, then dress him and take twin 2 to bath with Daddy then daddy gets out and we both go to feed the babies before bed. Everything takes double the time and from 5pm I litterally don't sit down until I go to bed at 11pm, it's hectic but I'm throwing a toddler into the mix aswell.

I also saw some pretty scary bellys of twin mommies on the web and that put a fear into me from early on but actually I didn't get THAT big and I only gained 4kg so after the birth I was smaller than before pregnancy. I will post a pic of my 34w belly just a few days before the birth.

Good idea Vix!

Hapi, congrats girl!! Hope all goes well with your pregnancy, are your babies one sac or separate?

No you dont need 2 of everything, really, Im sure Vix will agree with me, trust me, I dont have 3 of everything! You will find that some things are just unnecessary.

I think gettign as much info as you can from here will be good enough, I remember when I found out I was have triplets I started searching online about triplets and triplet pregnancies andimages of triplet pregnant woman and I got so freaked out and paranoid and so down about the whole "triplet" idea and I stopped, and it was the best thing, and I just took each day as they came, dear, you wont be able to plan many days ahead!!

The thing with multiples (well, especially with me having 3), there is no time to ponder what to do, when you in some situation you just have to do, when all 3 cry, I have to just do.

The only thing that will keep your sanity in tact is routine, routine, routine!

wow,who would have thought that your boys are fraternal - they look so alike :P

tx for starting this thread, all advise will come in handy.

speaking to other mommies who can relate to having multiples will really help put my mind at ease. i have so many questions, i dont know where to begin.

how to feed them
how to bathe them
do you really need 2 of everything.
