Skitter - Geluk!!

Klomp mense is op standby vir as ek dalk dringend moet hospitaal toe gaan, maar ek glo mens se man moet tog by die huis wees!! Ek glo nie ek gaan November haal nie! Die BH raak nogal erg met tye - voel of my maag wil afskeur van my lyf af....

Hoekom is mans so hardkoppig?

Jammer oor my klaaglied, maar ek moet my vrees met iemand deel! Ek glo julle sal verstaan...

Skitter - CONGRATS! He is gorgeous! Can't believe he's so punctual. On your due date! Wonder how often that happens! He really is beautiful. You were home so quickly. Did you tear badly?

Chanz - how are you expressing? Manual/electric pump or by hand? I know this might sound strange, but a friend of mines midwife recommended expressing by hand as you get more out and it feels more natural than a machine. Also, try having a baby blanket of Michael's nearby and a picture/video of him when you express. Sorry about the infection. Don't blame yourself though, he could have picked it up from anywhere. At least you know he is getting the best care possible. Sounds like he's thriving. This is a terrible and hard moment in your life that will be over before you know it.

Finally finished the baby nook. Just a few last finishing touches and then I'll be 100 percent happy with it. Will upload pics as soon as its completed! Have a good evening, ladies.

Skitterling, that is an awesome birth story and congratulations on the new baby.

Liam will definitely be a heart breaker he is adorable!!

Chanz, just keep expressing....the milk supply will get better once Michael is with you. Try not to stress, it'll only make things worse.
Will be praying for him to get better sooner.

Skitter, so baie baie geluk! WOW! Amazing birth story. I so hope mine is similar (well, with less pain, off course :-)).

Liam is gorgeous, love the name, love the baby, love the look!

Chanz, the only thing I can suggest is express, express, express, express. Once he is home, he will be suckling like a champ and that will make more milk. Sucking=milk. Get in lots and lots and lots of fluids, especially Rooibos tea. Try and not stress at all, since stressing affects the milk supply.

Here's an extract of an article I did a while back:

Reyneke recommends staying in bed for a day with baby in skin contact.

  • Keep the baby close feed on demand – even if that means feeding every hour.
  • Make sure the baby latches correctly.
  • Drink up to three litres of Jungle Juice (1 Litre Apple Juice, 2 Litre Water, 1 Sachet Rehidrat, 50 Ml Weleda Schlehen Blackthorn Berry Exilir. Drink as needed during the day. Add 10 Drops Rescue Remedy per glass as needed).
  • Do not skip meals.
  • Accept help with household chores so that Mom can rest.
  • Remove all forms of stress from life.
  • If all else fails, ask the doctor to prescribe something to increase the milk supply.
  • Phone someone who has had a positive breastfeeding experience for support and motivation. Try to avoid giving formula. The baby will fill himself with the formula and not drink from your breast. This will make Mom's milk supply even less due to the lack of the stimulation needed to make more milk.

Don't give up, though. You are doing fabulous and I hope Michael can come home real soon!
