Thanks for everyone's insights on the school issue, its definitely some food for thought. Magz, I have found the same, from talking to friends and colleagues. You have to be zoned for a specific school. We live in Fourways, so closest primary is Bryandale, which I thought had a good rep. And just yesterday I ran into an acquaintance at PnP, who had just taken her son OUT of Bryandale because they had 45 pupils per class. *sigh* This is giving me a headache!

Mosaneo, I hope this weekend treats you well, and that you feel much better next week. Sometimes I find that just a good, relaxing weekend can improve my mood and give me hope again. to answer your question, I work in Germiston, would also have loved to work (or live!) in Parktown, but no such luck!

Chantal, any luck on the search for creches? I came across an old topic on here, about creches in Fourways, but it also gives advice on what to look for in general. I'll paste the link here, hope it works. (If it doesnt, search for a topic called "Preschool/ Creche in Fourways Area??":

Mosaneo, Parktown is still an excellent school. I went to Parktown Girls, my little sis is there now in matric, and my little brother matriculated from Parktown Boys in 2008.

I hope the standard will be the same when its time for my little bean to go to high school...

I read it a few months ago, and couldn't put it down! It's terrible writing in literary standards, BUT its oh so indulgent, a naughty pleasure if you will! I don't know about you but DH was a very happy man when I was reading that book. Think I'm gona get the next book.......

Momtoc i have not read or heard of the book, please do share if you can, it will be great to read something nice, get my mind off things.
I used to work in Parktown at BDO, where do you work? i regret leaving, working in town is the best thing ever because it is central to most places.
And look at parktown boys, its a public school but still operates like a private and is very nice. as as MCauley primary, nice public school i think.

my son actually asked for a galaxy tab momtoc lol. in what planet does an 8 year old have such a gadget. one of his school mates has one. i heard about 50 shades do share the pdf with the group toe. I hear it`s saucy

Clueless, Gr R is basically Gr 0 - the grade just before the go to Gr 1. It just prefers them for primary school

pales, Peer pressure is everyone (sigh). Our kids are growing up in a very demanding era - all the technology at hand. It just stresses me out!

Magz, I totally get what you are saying. Alot of primary schools wants you to live in same area as where your child is going to school & even wants proof of residence This is not always possible....... I work in Parktown but there is just no way we can afford to live in this area.....

The day is almost over girl so tomorow is Friday and we can celebrate. Everyone expects us to be strong as women but i seriously feel like breaking down at times coz there`s just way too many things to deal with.

Its great to have you ladies around when the pity party starts lol.
