Congrats on Team Blue Ms it seems to be team blue all the way. Glad baba is doing great. Wow 100 people in the first 7 days must be hectic. But since its one day i guess thats fine.

Masaneo i would also like to take six mths leave actually i don't intend to go back but would like the extra two month then i can just go in an resign let me know if you find out.

Welcome Amanda wow three boys you must be strong. I only have one and i am already exhausted he is very active and climbs everywhere. At least it will be cheaper in terms of handing down clothes and whatever toys you get they can all share.

Marijke you are so lucky you get to stay home, no stress of work. You can just plan your day.

Speaking of Evil bosses lol i have one of those i haven't even told him i a pg earlier in the year he asked me whether i intended to fall pregnant again can you imagine. I told him i never planned the other two and i cannot answer that question. I will tell him only when others start noticing and asking, thank God for winter i can wear baggy stuff lol.

Traditionally i am to stay indoor for 40 days and i have to keep myself covered i.e wear a scarf on my head and sock we believe that a woman i open after giving birth and spirits are attracted to her. The baby's hair should be shaved off within seven days and a name should be given. If its a girl one goat/sheep should be slaughtered if a boy two.

With both my first and second i had no one but myself since my mom and mil are far away, they came later at four months. In a way i like it cause when they are round i have to attend to them with a baby its not easy. So this time around i will be doing it alone with Dh, luckily i have a live in nanny so that helps with the other two.

Plus i havent told any family members yet i want to surprise them DH thinks its a bad idea but i like it

Another member to TEAM BLUE!!! Baby is healthy and good and everything is fine. Next appointment is only in 6 weeks though..so far!

One of our traditions: depending on your family and financial situation, a big name ceremony is given within the baby's first 7 days. We definitely having a big name giving ceremony, this is the first grandchild on my family's side, and my dh is the only son (he has 5 sisters) and our boy will be carrying on the family name now. I can easily see 100 people at the ceremony, my extended family is very big and very close.

Reading about all the traditions is so interesting, keep them coming! It's amazing to learn about the different cultures, the why and the how!

First time round I told hubby that his parents can stay at our house but the moment I get out they have to be gone and leave no trace that they were here (they live an hour away and stayed from the Friday that I went in till the Monday morning I got out) Well they weren't here when I got back, they just left 3 days worth of washing up to do and dirty floors, tables, you name it, I was so ticked off. My parents live in the same town but my mother is very hands off if I can call it that - on the one hand very frustrating, on the other, a steep learning curve for which, looking back, I've been very grateful. She'll come in a heartbeat if I need help but we were brought up to be very independant so I remember a few times sitting with the phone in my hand wanting to call then sucking it up, I decided to have a child, not her.

About work. The husband and my brother in law have a business together since 2004 and I've always done the book keeping, the business kept growing and when I had B I only went in to do the books once every 2 months and things began slipping, so when B was 15 months I had to make a choice and since then I've been working on my bil to see that he needs someone permanently for the position because when I get pregnant I'm going to leave again and they can't cope without someone who knows what's going on with the money. So finally, after getting pregnant he agreed and I picked someone. So I'm back home, yay. Now I'm making it my mission to keep the house sparkling!

Mags my hubby`s family is also in the eastern cape although mom inlaw stays in Cape Town. mom inlaw might be coming down but i want my mom with me the first couple of days. just to remind me of how to do things, my boy is like 8 ppl so to be honest i dont remember much.

i have suggested the hospital circumcision to hubby and he is not impressed but i have a few years to work on him. with all these horrid stories im not willing to put any of my children in danger for any tradition.

I want to take the 6 months maternity leave, what must i do for the doctor to write me a letter to take 6 months off even though two months will be with no pay it is fine, i will make a plan.
