Oh no Lisa! That must have been a shock. I made my gynae double check at our 17 week scan before I went out and bought anything - we had been told girl at 13 weeks and luckily it didn't change.

My advice for first time moms re breast pumps (I am a working mom and I breastfed my son until he was three, he never had a drop of formula), is just to buy a small cheap manual pump at first (the Avent one is great, many women prefer it to an electric pump). You can use this for an occasional pump while on maternity leave if necessary. All women are different and a pump that works for one woman may not work for the next. I have a medela swing which was expensive and to be honest I never really liked it - yet other women LOVE it.

Electric pumps are expensive and if breastfeeding or pumping don't work out for you then it is a big waste.

That being said, I have heard really good things about the Spectra double electric pump and it is very reasonably priced.

@ Liza, that must have been a shocker  I have heard of that happening. We have decided on a name but have not said anything to anyone yet. My moms name is Rosemary and my husband Reinhardt so we are naming her Rosalie with Rein (rain) as a second name. I am sure it will take a while for your husband to get used to the idea of a girl now.
It was confirmed at 13 weeks that I was having a girl and then again at 16w :cheer:

@ Maj, I am also going through Kim from Beautifully born! :) Very good to know that she is wonderful and the classes helped you as a un medicated natural birth is exactly what i am looking for. With the birth did you use most of what you learnt from the classes or was their moments when you winged it?

AFM, went for my scan this morning and baby is doing well and is quite long and I have gained 1.7kg in two weeks, finally.

* TTC baby #1 for 1.5 years
(tried naturally for 1 year - anovulatory cycles)
(medicated Fertomid cycles for 5 months)
BFP - 1 Sept 2015 - un medicated cycle
TTC baby #2 - October 2017
BFP - 3 January 2018

TTC baby #3 in 2021

So it turns out my gynie has been wrong!

When I went for my 12 week scan she said we were having a boy... unfortunately we would not re-confirm at our 17 weeks scan.

On Monday I went for the anomaly scan and it is very definitely a girl! I am over the moon with excitement and unfortunately hubby needs a bit of time to adjust.

I have so many things to go and swop over the weekend from clothes to wooden block letters for the name in the nursery.

Has everyone who knows what gender baby they are having decided on names yet?

@Jay-bee, it def was muscle pain, feeling waaay better today!

Were r u going for the exercise classes? I wanted to join preggie bellies since everyone says the other classes I was going to were too intense. But preggiebellies only have a 19:00 class on a Monday and a Sat morn class

Have you decided on who you are going to for the Hypnobirthing? I went to Kim (Beautifully Born) and she was wonderful!
I had a natural, med free birth (with my mum standing next to me assuring me that its ok to scream!! )

@BlouSonneblom, I will def look into the breastpump, thanks for the link. I havent bought 1 yet, and I am definitely going to need it this time, as I have to be back at work alot sooner.
