Mommys to be in SEPTEMBER 2010

Hi everyone.
Michaela turned 6 months yesterday. She's been rolling over both ways since 3.5 months, been crawling since 4.5 months and is sitting on her own for 3 weeks now. She stood up for the first time last week but fell down hard on the wooden floors so i dont think she's going to try it again soon. She,s been eating since 4 months and it hasnt made a big difference in her sleeping pattern. Most of the time she eats whatever we are having.She has always been a bad sleeper but its getting better now, most nights i only get up 2-3 times, beats getting up every 2 hours and then its just for a sip or two milk and she passes out again. been having a tough week as she is cutting her first tooth and had an ear and throat infection to go with it
I use to work from home so im trying to work again but its really difficult with such a busy madam in the house.

Yes i had an hour long lecture the other day at a braai about Michaela not getting the right milk because she is not fat enough! I was so blimming upset and angry at this women, yes my child is not fat but that doesnt make her underfed as she is growing and picking up weight!

Kiara is now 5 months and she is cutting her first tooth. we can see it. too cute

she is really advanced they say... was rolling over at 6 weeks, by 3 months was on tummy to back and back to tummy.... i swore she was teething at 3 months, drooling, biting things but paed so no, she is nowhere near teething. now she has one that is coming through.

very active, she is everywhere. cant leave her alone at all on the floor. she moves to our Tv cabintet, looks at herself on the reflection, laughs and taps on the glass with her little hands and makes finger prints ...too cute

does any of your babies picks their hands up for you too carry them. when she sits in her chair, If we go pass, she picks up both hands and for us to pick her up. man that is so cute

I am loving this age....she is so responsive and alert....

Ntoko, your baby will sit soon....every baby is different. look yours sleeps through, mine does not. I wish i can sleep a whole night where i dont have to get up, make a bottle and feed...

its not bad, one feed and she has her eyes closed and is out afterward but the effort to get out of bed to make the bottle, sit in the chair, feed and put back in cot and then try to fall asleep...

its tiring when you have to go to work the next day

Sonay aint you just lucky still @home. How much leave did you take? Im glad your gal is growing nicely.

Sher - Wow your baby seems like the fastest of them all. sitting on her own @4 months I must be having a very lazy baby.

My gal is 5months. No teeth yet. Not sitting on her own yet, still need to be monitered/supported cause after a few minutes she falls. She slept through the night from birth but now has started to wake up once for a bottle . She eats 3 meals a day. Otherwise she`s a sweet baby.

Ahh, BKM, he is sweet. Seems like he is enjoying his biscuit.
And on protein already! I am not sure when to start that. Shani is still on only 2 meals a day, and still only the "starter" veggies. We did buy some biltong last week for her to chew on, she loved it, but as soon as it gets soggy, it gets chucked. Havn't tried the teething biscuits yet. Used it for my son and found they made a mess more than anything else.

Sher, sounds like you have the sweetest little princess, petite and sleeping well. Starting solids didn't change my LG's sleeping pattern. Her's is very erratic, to say the least. Her being sick last week messed it up even more. Early evening, she wakes up every 30 or so minutes and would cry until I pick her up. She's still on the same bed-time routine as before. When she wakes up at night, it's also just to take a sip or 2 or 3, then straight back to sleep.

I really hope the othe September mommies pop in every now and then. Miss chatting to all of you. Maybe I should pop in with you on the Aug thread, they seems to be much more active.

Eating a purity teething biscuit...

Hi Sonay and Sher and other September mommies! How are you all doing?

I know, time just flies past. I post quite a bit on the August mommies thread but still wish I could post more.

I am working from home so haven't had to go back to an office and leave my boy with anyone else. Its tough working around him but it is wonderful to be with him every day. I know what you mean Sonay, if I had to go out to a 9-5 job in addition to all the 'work' I do just looking after John etc, I don't think I would cope. I don't know how other moms do it and keep sane But I guess we all cope with what we need to cope with and I would probably cope if I had to work outside the home.

John was 6 months old at the end of Feb, I'm absolutely loving this age, he is so cute and happy and reponsive and taking in everything around him with such wonder and amusement. Its fabulous. He is teething, got his first tooth on the 24th Feb and the 2nd one is pushing through. The first one hasn't come up fully but sits near the gum but has definitely cut through. He has been very niggly with the 2nd one and has caught a cold at the same time so is very snotty, poor boy. Calpol is helping nicely and the nosefrida nasal aspirator.

He has only just started sitting on his own but still often falls over in his do nut. He is rolling from tummy to back but not from back to tummy yet. The paed says nothing to worry about though, he is perfect.

He started on solids at 4 months so we are already onto 3 solid meals a day now and for about 2 weeks he has been on protein at dinner time too. He is loving it but starting to want to drop a milk feed and paed says its fine because he is getting a varied diet now.
John started sleeping through from 4 and a half months when he was on 2 solid meals a day so I think he was hungry and that's why he was waking up at night, even though we had stopped night feeds.
He weighs 8.26kg and is 68cm, above average in weight and height but in proportion.
I know what you mean, he is not fat but has the chubby baby look and has a chubby face so lots of people just feel the right to comment on it, strange hey? I don't really mind, but maybe because he is a boy. I know as a girl that I had issues with food and weight growing up (still do ) but hopefully I am instilling in John the attitude to enjoy food but eat when he is hungry.

Sonay i get that weight thing too, people always say oh she is so tiny she 6kg, petite, small bone structure but very strong

i have one or two friends whose babies are few days older or months and they also compare my little one with theirs, just the weight

my baby is advance other wise, so I am a very proud mom

only thing she is not sleeping through, gets up once in the night like 1:30 or 2am just for a bottle, eyes closed, burps and goes right back to bed...

she will only go on solids at 6 months, dont know if it helps to sleep longer ?
