Hi Sonay

Yes I defo want to go to the JHB meet, not sure of any details yet or who is organising. I should probably look on the forum, do you know if there is a thread for it?

Ja, I think it would be really nice to meet some of the ladies I've been chatting to and swap advice and stuff. I have a few friends with children but haven't managed to really get out much for coffee etc yet.
I have 4 friends about to have babies (seems like I started something when I fell pregnant, lol). One in December and THREE in February!

HI BabyKMom

It's hard but one tends to do what is best for both of you. I only manage to express the first couple of days after she decided to boycott me. Just can't find the time to do it and I struggle to express while feeding her. What I do now is to put her to the breast a couple of minutes before it's her actual feeding time and let her drink from both. Then give her her bottle. Simply want to get my supply up.
But like you said, the babies have their own agendas.

PS. You going to the meet in Jan?

Aah Sonay, I know, John and I have never had a great time breastfeeding, he's always struggled to latch, and from about 2 weeks ago he started really fighting me every feed and crying hysterically, so I decided to express more and bottle him almost every feed. I still b/f him the early morning feed because its easiest but even though he starts off drinking without a problem it always ends with a bit of a fight. So I think that one will become a bottle feed soon.
I was also cut up about it because I really wanted to b/f him and experience that closeness and special time but if he is fighting it the whole time then all it does is stress him out. He bottle feeds without much hassle at all and is a calmer baby for it. But I know how you feel.
I swear, all expectations I had before I had him have flown out the window, these babies of ours have their own agendas! ;)

Hi ladies.

WOW, our babies are growing so fast. Can't believe it's 3 months already!?!? Well, still a week or so more for us.

Good to hear how good your little ones are doing. Super jealous for the sleeping through the night. But I guess I can't complain too much. Shani wakes up once or twice for a feed but goes back to sleep immediately after burping. She sleeps well during the day as well, so no complaints. I'm so happy we're past the colic stage, not sure how I survived it, but I did. Seems like she's now struggling with reflux. Asked her pead for a script for Losec and guess what he faxed through to my pharmacy? "tell her to give her some Gaviscon" I was livid. she's going for the 3 month check up next month then I'l discuss it with him again. Gave her some gaviscon, but it looks like it just make things worse (happened to me before as well) So now i just give her something to drink.

O ya, she decided she doesn't want to drink on me any more. I was/is totally cut up about it. I still let her suck on me at night (ok, hoping she will take to it again) and I still have milk. But I guess, rather a happy formula baba than a cranky breast baba. To be honest, since she's on formula, it also seemed as if lots of her issues were less.

Abt the Jhb meet, I will try my best to attend.

Have a great day

Hello moms

My baby is 12 weeks old today!

Wow, last night John slept through from 20h30 to 5h30 this morning! He has had a couple of nights similar to this but he always would wake up about 3 or 4 times during the night and I'd need to pop his dummy back in. So this time is the first time that I did not need to get out of bed until 5h30. I feel so rested. I hope he carries on with this... :)

The last few days I have been feeding him every 4 hours and the last 3 days he has only had 4 feeds a day instead of 5 (he seems to have dropped the 10pm feed). I have increased each feed accordingly and he is finishing them nicely - he has a mix of breastmilk and formula - I breastfeed him his early morning feed, then he gets a bottle of expressed breastmilk at mid morning and lunchtime, then a bottle of formula for dinner.
So we seem to be establishing a routine nicely and I am feeling like I have more time on my hands again. Of course I don't want to speak too soon as each week things change with him but this does feel more stable than before.

He is sleeping now and has been for an hour and a half already. (It is 13h30). It is raining quite heavily outside so I think the rain lulls him and has calmed him nicely.

Aaaargh I am struggling so much to lose the last 10 kgs I gained in pregnancy :(
I still have a larger appetite than pre-pregnancy, probably cos of breastfeeding/ expressing and a bad sugar habit. Also I went back to gym and swiped my card but have not had a chance to go back again to actually do a class or even 20 minutes on the bike. When hubby gets home its dinner time and bath time and bed time and then dinner time for us and then I'm too exhausted to go to gym. I think I must let hubby do the bedtime routine a couple times a week then I can go to gym over that time.
Anyone else struggling with weight loss?

So who in Jozi is going to the JHB get together in January?
