okay well in March 2010 you made the 18 months... unless there was time off i don't know about...

So from what i understand you get 25% of your salary for the four months, unfortunately your comission falls away while you are gone

and on your return your first paycheck will have a guaranteed on target comission.

bear in mind you can claim the difference between your 25% and your normal paycheck from the UIF... you won't get the full amount... but it's better than nothing

Surely you should then qualify to take 4 mnths paid leave? It was 18 mnths in March?

Kerry A - Thats nice ours is similar but if you do want to leave you still can but work for only for 4 months after the maternity leave or resign and pay whatever they paid you during that period...

Mama_M - i agree with Meekah that will be a short time to spend with your Little one, why don't you ask your new company to give you some time the u knwo u will finish on time with the current one and then everthing will be sorted, I'm just suggesting

I was hoping to finish 20/28th Aug, hence i'm due on the 04 Sep. but have not decided yet, just awaiting for the assesment scans on the 09th June 2010 and bookings 02 July 2010 then i i will be 100% sure of my EDD, hence this dates are sometimes changed

and i want to take my 4 full months, this lady from HR doesn't wonna get back to me abt my full 4 months ML PAID, OR WHAT

Qualifying criteria A:
Female employees with a minimum of 18 months continuous service are granted four months maternity leave and will be paid:
25% of UIF applicable earnings and On Target Commission at the end of the first month (i.e. guaranteed commission) back from Maternity leave


Qualifying criteria B:
Female employees with less than 18 months continuous service are granted four months' maternity unpaid maternity leave. They will continue to receive benefits from the UIF according to the applicable sliding scale.

I get 4 months fully paid ML provided i sign that i will stay here for three years (no biggie i like it here anyhow). and seeing as i usually take leave in december i will take maybe ten days annual leave after as well

As for when i plan to go, well i am not sure, i was hoping to do my august Salary runs... which would mean i have to stay till August 20th ish... and since my EDD is 25/8 and baby is already big... i don't think i will have that chance. but my boss is pretty fair so i think i will book my mat leave from 1 sept and work as far in as i can and if i go early i will take my annual.

I think it will really depend on how you feel closer to the time.
Baby can come at 38 wks or only at 42 wks naturally?
I was thinking of finishing the 2nd as it will be our fasting month ....and I want to spend some time with my lb before baby is born and have some alone time with him to prepare him for everything...
and stay at home till mid March.( We get up to 6 months leave....5 mnths paid 75% and take annual leave for the last month).
Will see closer to the time though.

Meekah, i am due 22 Sept.

I plan to have my last work day on Friday 3 Sept (37 weeks 2 days) and then use annual leave for the first three days of the following week (so i will get paid for one week in sept). Then i will take unpaid maternity leave from 9 Sept (38 weeks 1 day) until 15 dec. Then I will switch back to annual leave until mid january. Our company closes on 15 Dec and reopens on about 12 jan so i will go back to work when they reopen. But that way i will get paid for half of december and the whole of january.

So basically i will be "on leave" from 4 Sept - appr. 11 Jan which is about 4 months.
