Oct/Nov 2008 mommies!

Hi ladies.

I spoke to C about the twins' party last night and we decided to cut down on the actual food but unfortunately we can't have a Candy Shop party without candy lol. And we're not doing party packs, the candy buffet will be where the mommies can kind of make party packs for their kids. I've just gotten little red buckets and I've got brown paper little bags so the sweets can go in there. I'm doing fizzers, choc covered marshmallows, jelly beans, liqorice, knicker balls, popcorn, brownies and rice krispie treats. But I'm doing like 1 pack of each sweets, not going over board. And the cake was going to be 3-tier but now I'm doing the top layer in polystyrene so it's not wasted cake etc.

I have to move full steam ahead though. Need to make 50 giant lollipops for the "lollipop lane" that everyone will be walking through to get to the back of the garden. Then I have to make like 25 "candy bonbons" to hang in the trees and I'm doing lollipop trees for the tables (only 2/3). Luckily it's all cheap stuff, like the lollipops for lollipop lane are made from red paper plates and dowel rod which is like R5 a metre.

And I need to go grocery shopping, go to GAME and Dischem today. So not in the mood for that but I have no choice. I wish it was still weekend!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

So old news is my team won Sorry all WP supporters. Nicole we did get to the stadium. Decided against taking Shrey as the weather looked like it could change any minute. Fortunately the storm on & off the field held off till after final whistle The party atmosphere afterwards was awesome but I just wanted to rush back to my boy as soon as presentations were done ... mind you he was fine and not even asking for us.

Simone & Jessica I'm so glad you guys had such a lovely parties and the weather stayed nice for both of you. Can't wait to see the pics.

Vix hope you are still taking it easy & hope C's constipation issues get sorted today.

OMW Julz I saw your halloween pics on fb ... totally scary lol can't believe Dylan didn't get a fright.

Zee & Nelria good luck with the studies this week.

Mandy my dh always gets beers at least in case someone wants but this year nobody had till after all the kids were seen too.

Now I can't remember much else.

Oh yes Ally we also packed up cupcakes etc for kids as they didn't touch any during party. They preferred the samoosa's we prepared for adults (actually mum made some without chilli as well so I think we fried that for them). And then we had breyani for adults and veg bake for the kids - everyone ate because we didn't overdo it with snacks.

Yesterday we had our friends lg's 2nd bday. Shrey loved it. He was the only non miserable child so everyone thought he was such an angel lol if only they knew. He even went and sat on people he didn't know which worries me a bit but maybe he felt safe due to a few familiar faces.

Anyway back to work. Ladies sorry if I missed something important. Will try to catch up again later on.

Vix shame i can imagine how sore you must be feeling at this point and running after a toddler cannot be easy! I hope you are able to take it easy the last remaining few weeks. Ouch on C's constipation!!

Mandy i personally feel that booze should not be served at a kiddies birthday party, maybe something that adults can do later once the kiddies have settled. I would suggest that if the parents want to drink that they need to bring their own.

afm - our weekend was super crappy, i spent the most of saturday and sunday morning either cleaning puke of the carpets or changing K's dirty nappies!!!!!!!!! think he had a stomach bug of some sorts and was really miserable and quite lethargic and then all of a sudden yesterday at 16:00 pm he did 180 and was fine, jumping around, laughing and in general being his normal cute but naughty self lol So i sent him to creche this morning with instructions to call me if he seems miserable.

I however have the mother of all headaches, it started on Saturday and hasnt gone away since!!!!!!!!I woke at 02;40 this morning in tears it was so bad, i was actually shivering from the pain - thinks its a migrane,if its still here tomorrow i am sending myself off to the docter.

I'm up way too early! Addison went to bed at 6pm so obviously it was going to be an early wake up! 5:47am:-(

We're so sick of HUGGIES gold leaking so got pampers pull ups for girls. Not sure if this is new? first night still a leak but Addy drank so much milk last night, screaming....so the pampers was so full...seems more absorbent than the hg so will see.

Addy is doing very well with potty training and asking to go to the potty...so I'm hoping by december there'll be no nappies in our lives anymore! We went out on friday...her nappy was bone dry when we got home and she asked to wee. Put dry nappy back on and again before bed put her on potty (nappy was still dry). So coming on nicely.

Vix I never had bh so no idea what it feels like. If u are feeling so rotten I think everybody must understand u're on a go slow and u rather stay home and relax as u are doing.

Re:alcohol good point with kids around!

Nelly- any day except 12th because I have a scan that day but otherwise I plan to go no where from now on. I even cancelled my maternity shoot with Tertia because I just couldn't bear the thought of the long journey and posing in the heat. I sound so feble but I am really taking strain even since just friday. It's like my body just decieded to give up once it hit 30w. O.k I think 2 bad nights with C probably is mostly to blame for that but still kids will be unpredictable.

I gave C a little less poo tea yesterday to see how it would work and he was sooooo constipated today we used 8 nappies between 12 and 5 just with him trying to push out the poop. Eventually I managed to squeeze one lump out but hopefully the rest will come on it's own tomorrow. It's amazing how bad his condition is that even cutting his tea down by 1/3 would make such a difference. My poor boy was in agony, I can't believe he used to be like this every single day!

Simone- so pleased the party went well! Sounds like it was a lot of fun.

Mandy- I would never expect alcohol at a toddlers birthday party unless it was like a braai at home or something but even still I personally don't like to drink with the kids around incase something happens. Well that and the fact that these days I'm a light weight so I am usually the designated driver. My take on most parties is if you want to drink booze you bring your own.

I woke up last night with these funny kinda sore crampy spasms accross the top of my tummy. Not sure if it was BH? Never had them once with C so still a bit unsure what it's supposed to feel like. I must say though I have had a lot of wiierd sensations and feelings in my tummy this weekend, making me nervous!

Julz- your halloween sounds like it was fun! To be honest we don't have anything round here for Halloween, I miss it because in the UK we were always mad for trick or treating and scare parties. DH says if kids keep ringing his door bell for trick or treating he'll start shooting them......... Such a scrooge!

Ally- sounds like Koi is divine, I'll be sure to pop in there after winning the rollover on wed. LOL

Ally that was my plan...if kids wanted snacks they could take from adults snacks. Like I said...they didn't even finish the sweets and cakes I did have for them. But Hey...maybe pe kids and jhb kids are different and u'll be saying ' thanks for the Crap tips Simone cause the kids asked for food!' Lol

Cant believe its work tomorrow again!this party weekend was not good for my diet...so I'm glad its monday and I go back on the straight and narrow eating and exercise wise!

Thanks so much for the tips. I am going to make a cake again and just do some party packs. We are doing a braai for the adults so if they want alcohol they can bring it. We provided all drinks at the venue last year but we will rather have the party at home this year.

We are going to hire a jumping castle but I we entertain often so I don't really stress. Will buy cake boxes and do something crafty and fun for each child.

We enjoyed our friends party last night and we went trick or treating this evening. Was lots of fun. We also took Dylan swimming today. He loved it which is so cool and so did I.
