Thanx for the tips. So I'm going to skip the mac 'n cheese then. I'll do those jelly cups, give each child a juice and a packet of chips and then there will be popcorn, brownies, rice krispie treats and loads of sweets at the candy buffet. And the kids can always snack from the adult table if they want.

Mandy, if people want alcohol at the twins' party they must bring themselves. I'm ONLY giving home-made lemonade and tap water, everything else people must bring themselves.

Nelria, the party ist he 27th at 14h30. If you guys are still away it's no problem. I'm sending out the invites this week. Oh, I want to ask you, can I borrow 3/4 steel tables and gazebo's again? I'm not bothering with chairs this year. Just going to throw blankets on the ground because all the moms are usually with their kids anyway.

I meant of the kids only maybe 2 kids had something...the adults ate the food. Lol.not nobody ate anything.

Ally I wanted to do fruit kebabs. Its healthy and cute.

I had steak rolls, chicken schwarmas and chicken subs. Maybe the 13yrs olds had a savoury each?? But nobody else.

I had kids from 3m to 13yrs....the kids either are so excited about party packs they opened them immediately and ignored the jelly cups, chips, marshmallows, lollies I put on table...and polished their hot ceres juices instead of drink cold juice that was available. Other kids ran off and only their parents fetched the packs on the way out.

We went to 2nd bday last month. The mom made a plate for each kid with pie, chicken, chips, cake, etc and I promise not one child touched it.

Also depends on whats available for kids. mine was at venue so kids wanted to play not eat. So honestly my advice is minimal food for kids. I came home with lollies and stuff again.

I made nice party packs depending on kids age. Ceres juice, chips, jungle oats bar, milo bar, lolly, marshmallow, jelly cup and safari fruit bites or sticks. Younger kids got chomps and jelly babies instead of milo and oats bar.

Mandy alcohol? I didn't even do tea and coffee cause honestly I could only afford cooldrinks and juice. People can't expect lavish stuff anymore because quite honestly who can afford it? Parties are expensive! Don't feel guilty, skip the alcohol!

Addison was in total brat mode today!!!! Its like aged 2 has brought on this new personality! I spent half the day wondering...is this my sweet child??? She hasn't slept all day, but in bed by 6pm so nice early night and we can do as we please for the rest of the evening. Vannah went to get some kfc for supper and now watching some series.

so went to jess's party and it was superrrrrrrrrrrr lea was away from me the whole time - super cool - and bryce just about had only chicks there LOL - jumping castle was huge sucess

tips on parties mmmm dont do cake and cupcakes too much - slow down on sweets with all the excitment dont really get around to it - oh and drinks out of glasses/ boxes or oros type bottles beter than the pouches - like lea just cant master those yet so one squeze and its all over everything - sorry jess i think she took 3 and watered your lawn for u LOL

Yes I got the call Simone - and went to the office for 4 hrs to pack and clean and settle in so that no clients are affected on monday -however, telkom is really letting us down as our switchboard will only go online in the PM on monday - no matter that we have called them every 48 hrs for ONE MONTH before the move trying to get it sorted

Ally - one tip i can give you that i am doing that i saw at another party is: they bought plastic cups with lids and made jelly and put a layer of ultramel on top. They also quite cleverly bought those marshmellow fish, cut them up individually and then spread them accross the table, that way unfinished ones are left behind.

Guys I upgraded my cell contract and finally got a blackberry. Im a little intimidated to set it up, so I will get a friend who has one at work tomorrow to sort it out for me. I upgraded at Macro so I got R1500 vouchers so i bought all the party pack, drinks,kids sweets and I got those oros juices 6 for R19.00 - not so bad! so I will obviously let the kids have normal juice and water if they choose to in a cup but each kid will also get an oros bottle.

is anyone serving alchohol at their parties? we just cant afford to and decided that its not really required or expected at kiddies parties.. Problem i have is that last year it was only 3 kids and all dults so the alcohol really flowed, but it was at a restuarant so people could have whatever anyway, now we are at a venue but have to supply all the drinks and we've just decided not to spend the money we have for alcohol! does everyone think this is acceptable? thoughts?

cammy is talking up a storm. he watches tv and he says elephant eating the tree, or daisy kicking the ball and holding iggles hand, its really fun and if he wants to know what you doing he says, wot doing dere ( there ) ?? or I'n hungry..

anyhoo after such a hot day im quite pleased that its raining! and my party and allys party is at this time in the afternoon - YIKES!! at least we can move inside at our venue - but it wont be so much fun !!

anyhoo - off to PE this week end thurs to sun, simone - will speak to family soon and see what we can do together

The babyshower was a massive success but guess what? I forgot my FREAKING camera! C's aunt did take photo's but i'll probably only get those in like 2 weeks.

So excited. Now the prep starts for the twins' bday. Thanx for the tip about kids' snacks. I thought of just making a big tray of Mac 'n Cheese. Do you think I shouldn't even bother? Coz there will be snacks for the adults (crostini's, sausage rolls, caprese kebabs) and I'm making loads of fresh lemonade. And then obviously the candy buffet and cake. I also thought of just making the kids fruit kebabs and giving yoghurt because the party starts at 14h30 for 15h00 and ends at 17h00-17h30 so it's snack time then. What do you ladies suggest? Mac 'n cheese or just yoghurt and fruit?

Family coming over for lunch today. I have been assigned to cook..go figure. Usually my dad cooks when we have guests over weekend but I told him I'll only cook if he buys fillet, hoping that he won't and then he said that's perfect. lol So now I'm making pepper-crusted fillet with sauce, roast baby potatoes, steamed veg and salad. And then he'll prob just get strawberries and choc-mousse for dessert. Can't wait for lunch!!

Morning ladies

I still feel tired...luckily I got up early to clean up, my sister is buying lunch. Just need to go to reggies to get nappies and the barbie dolls. Fil gave money for them.

Presents...Wow.this child as usual got ridiculously spoilt. Dora dvd's, about 10 dresses and outfits, 4 pj's sets-long pants, shorts, satin;tea sets, pots and pans, doll and Pram set. Full medical set on trolley, shoes-play and real;enough panties til next year! Guitar...hair stuff, play hair drier, tongs, etc. Really just so much stuff! Sil still needs to buy her something, but I'm going to tell her to keep the money towards xmas rather cause I can't think of anything!
