Helen I don't think there is a right or wrong choice. The studies have shown that cutting can lead to further tearing but forceps were used so they do cut usually. Epidurals can lead to assisted delivery so that could have been a factor too. Again take your time and go with your gut feeling. A planned c sec has fewer chance of complications however an emergency c sec is exactly the same as a regular one. The only difference being mom's mindset. I didn't entertain the notion much at all. The other silly doc told me to book one but when my gynae got back from leave he said that yes it might be a consideration but gave me the go ahead to see what happens and so I put the thought of c section aside until my next appointment which I never made it to.

I think if you are open to both then your choice will be more informed which will give you more confidence in your choice.

Lisha and Nicole thanks for sharing I really do appreciate it. Its funny because I don't feel like I had a traumatic birth with Oliver because I didn't feel a thing with the epidural but technically that's what it was. The doc cut me with but I tore as well, I'm not sure but the tearing was probably because he had to use the forceps to literally pull Oliver out (DH had to hold me down on the bed lol) as I could not feel when to push at all, I could feel the head weighing down but I had no idea when to push and when the nurse told me to push I thought I was but nothing was actually happening lol. I'd gone into false labour on the Sunday night and was admittted but I was only 1cm dilated, they gave me a shot of pethidine which was lovely hehe and I slept the night away and they monitored the contractions but they were weak and irregular. Gynae came to see me first thing and said I could hang around for a bit, go home or they could induce as I was still no more than 1cm. Just as I got up off the bed to go home my waters broke, that was at 10.30am and the contractions came thick and fast after that and within 20mins I was begging for the epidural, I don't remember much about the next few hours but I got the epidural but I basically went from 1cm to fully dilated in 3 hours as Oliver was delivered at 1.30pm so I think that the speed at which the labour progressed was probably a contributing factor to the tear. I really think I want to try a natural birth again but I'm so scared of making the wrong decision and regretting it afterwards. I'm sorry I keep harping on about it and I appreciate all your patience, I'm just so grateful that I have somewhere that I can air all my concerns without judgement. I shall keep quiet about it all for now as like I said earlier there's not much I can do until my next scan when we can see how big this baby really is

Yay girls I'm so happy! Both babies have grown a full 2 weeks worth Alex is spot on measuring 30w and Jono is 29w which we always knew there was a slight difference from day 1. Both have their heads in my right rib hence the terrible pain! Not much we can do except rest up. Just off to the Dr with C now so will chat a bit later!
