Its soo quiet in here today!

So Kaelyn decided to give daddy a hard time this morning... She was due a bottle at 7:00 ish, at 9 i got a phone call from daddy saying

"she keeps trying to suckle on my chest, but wont take the bottle!! What do i do?"

I didn't know what to say as i have only ever had her refuse the boob not the bottle! Eventually at 10am feeling quite rejected and having to go to work he dropped her off at MIL, and guess what? Kaelyn won't take the bottle from her either!

Now i am sitting by the phone desperatly wanting to phone and see how things are going, but also not wanting to be a pain in the rear.

Hmph, so very much work getting done here! :-0

Eileen - So glad to hear IZ is better sorry Abigail isnt but i am sure she will be soon! and don't stress with the solids every baby takes their own time, Kaelyn is on porridge in the morning and veggies at night, and every friday night i give fruit instead... and i am thinking of starting her on lunch too, but not rushing to it as every time i do she drops a milk feed... we are down to only 4 milk feeds a day! Okay real biggies so the paed isn't at all stressed, but honestly with the solids its a little down the road of two steps forward and one step back.

babyK - Kaelyn also refuses the boob every few days, luckily i always have expressed milk in the fridge when it happens! Then shell take it again later on... so i guess its just sometimes she wants to choose for herself huh?

With the protein K is only just a bit over six months so were holding back but i am considering chicken in the near future... I hear chicken and apple are good together, last night i made a batch of home made carrots and the night before i made a batch of pear tonight i have to do either the apple or the sweet potato... by the end of the week i think i will have at least a few weeks supply of stuff with some variety

Oh and regarding the debt collections, well dont stress i also get the charming job of doing that! even in this big firm (with a fully fledged debtors dept) every month we are given a list of all debtors that are more than 2 months late... we then have to single out our clients and threaten to not do any more work for them. I would love to be at home with my little one too though!

Hmm as for me, well its hectic but in a way nice, hubbys working the late shift this week (12:00 - 20:00) so its just me and Kaelyn at home at night! luckily she is being an angel every night! So we do the usual, fold the washing on the clothes horse and hang out the stuff in the maching, then put another load in the machine, cook supper, clean and sterilise bottles, pack Kaelyns bags for the next day, make lunch for work, feed the dogs, bath Kaelyn and put her to bed, and once all of thats done relax for 5 minutes...

Morning all!

The good news is, Iz seems to be doing loads better. Though now she is vomiting more, phlem! The suppository worked magic last night. Though it's getting more and more of a struggle to get the meds in. And her milk, she is convinced everytime we come near her mouth it's meds, so even getting her bottle in her mouth is a struggle.

Bad news, Abigail seemed better yesterday morning, but is MUCH worse this morning, she is at home and I'm taking her to the GP at 10. My nebulizer decided death is a better option than working all this overtime, since the whole family is being neb'd. Have to go buy a new one, but this time I'm gonna try find a heavy duty one! Seeing that we a load of chesty's.

On a rather funny note. Iz p'd for the first time on the bathroom floor this morning She vomited (all over everything for the second time, and my newly washed carpet) So I decided to bath her and stripped her down while running the bath, making her stand on the bathroom floor. So she decided to wee all over the floor!

I had my mini bitch meltdown last night. Sleep deprivation and the stress of the last week kicked in. Small miracle DH walked away with his life.
But feeling much better today, ready to face anything again!

BabyKsmom, geez, your solids sounds so advanced. Iz is nowhere near any of those, and with her being sick, she's only on milk again. We STILL only on cereal and sweet potatoe?!?!?!?
Am I the only one struggling with this? What am I doing wrong?


I am so lus for Sushi!!!!!!! Haven't had some for 3 weeks now.

Aaah Girly I am very sorry to hear that, your poor friend. My prayers go out to her and her husband.

And Eileen, shame man, you have been lumped with it all hey? Just make sure you take some Vit C or something so you don't get sick too. Its always the moms who have to carry on and on and look after everyone else. Shame, I hope Iz is feeling better today so that you can help your mom. Thinking of you lots xx

Shoo, seems a bit sad on the forum today

Well J refused my boob on friday morning. I was in the process of weaning him anyway so I took that as a good sign of independence and have not breastfed him since then. All is fine so far, I'm a little sad but its ok.

He also has had some more protein now - chicken and broccoli the other night and I made him Annabel Carmel bolognaise last night and he loved it (basically very plain bolognaise)!
Girty, with the fish and tuna, I mashed/ shredded it as much as I could. And with the chicken I shredded it with a stick blender and stirred it into blended broccoli and it was fine. I have started him on more textures now so I'm not always blending everything but sometimes just mashing it. He is doing fine so far, if something is too big for him he pushes it out with his tongue or he gags but he has not choked on anything. I watch him very carefully

How is your little Girly doing? I can't get over her rapid recovery. You are a Supermom, do you know that?

Cols, congrats on booking Evan's Christening! I was supposed to call the priest today but ran out time so I must do it tomorrow. I hope we can baptise John before the middle of the year but I don't know when the next ones are. I'm looking forward to it though, the priest is a fantastic man, so passionate and shining true Christianity. Not like many Catholic priests out there

Wow Kerry, it sounds like you are kept super busy at work! I sometimes question why I am freelancing when I have to beg for money like I had to do with a particular client (who is also a friend and that made it ten times harder). But then I think how privileged I am to be home with my boy most days. Sure I have to work around his sleep times and in the evenings so I will spend the next couple of years (until he goes to nursery school) pretty darn tired and worn out but I love spending time with him during the day. I just wish I didn't have to fight for money. Thankfully I have one good client who always pays on time every month

I better run, I am going to a girlfriend for a girls' dinner tonight while DH looks after John, can't wait!

GIrly it is heartbreaking about your friend. I'm also so sorry that things are so tough right now but remember you have been SO INCREDIBLY strong - and look, the proof is Kaylae's ability to pull through these ops - I am sure both of you have major impact but YOU in particular with your kindness and love you are giving your little girl life and the suffering now will I hope give way to much ease and comfort on ALL fronts soon! I can just imagine how you feel but I also know that God has chosen Kaylae a special mom and you are doing wonderfully.
