I hope DH gives you a timeout and you get to have a break, even if it is grocery shopping... I know I used to love leaving Evan with DH to go shopping when i was on ML because for an hour or 2 I could just be alone. I know it sounds terrible of me but I also needed a time out. I admire moms who stay home with LO, it is more than a fulltime job...

I probably asked before but what kind of roles are you looking for? If I see anything I will send it on to you.

Well, the priest called back. He has booked Evan's Christening for 8 May 2011. We just need to go to classes at our local parish before then

I got so sad when I realised Evan will be 7 months on Saturday

Oh Girly - I work for BDO South Africa, (an audit firm if you havent heard of them) I work in the businedd services division and i do monthly managament accounts for people and i also manage salary runs for companies who don't want to have an in house payroll department (for various reasons)

KerryA that sounds very hectic at work! Thats one problem with leaving someone else to do your job. What do you do btw?

Cols everyone always comments on K teething cos she drools and puts her hands in her mouth but she's also been teasing us for months where I can feel them one day and not the next. Daddy only got his first tooth after a year so I am being patient. At least it doesnt seem to bug her yet.

I saw some of your recent pics on FB - you dont even look like you had a baby! I still look 6 months pregnant I really need to get my ass into gear but I tend to stress eat and well its been a stressful year

BabyK's mom sounds like the tooth is on its way out! If you use a spoon and can hear the spoon hit the tooth then maybe so?
Re the snacks - the tuna & fish, do you give it just like that or mush it somehow? I'm so scared of K choking
I gave her some banana today - held it for her and she chewed off the top but the pieces that come off she doesnt handle well.

Well tomorrow its a week that K has been out of ICU. I cant believe how time has flown. And by Tuesday she's been home a week already.
She is starting to get her voice & personality back which is really awesome. I was very down earlier this week cos although she's home it just didnt feel like I had my baby back.
This op will be setting her motor development back though so she will probably be the last to sit, crawl, and shes stopped rolling over for the most part. This is cos of the cut under her left arm / back of rib because she is very uncomfortable. We cannot really hold her under her left arm either so I cant put her in her bumbo / walker cos I cant properly get her out without risk of hurting her.
Her left eye is still slightly droopy after the op and I'm so scared that its permanent damage. The doc couldnt really tell us, just that it should come right with time.
But the last two days she's been laughing so much its too cute. She even laughs in her sleep. On Friday she was obsessed with our maid, and everytime she walked into another room K started crying.
One of the temporary set backs is that she's refusing to sleep in her cot next to the bed. It's like she has trauma of us not being there when she wakes up so she wants to sleep in our arms and the second we put her down she starts screaming, even in her sleep. So the last few nights she's been sleeping in the bed with us. We try move her into the cot when in a deep sleep but 20 minutes later she'll wake up screaming - which we cant hear cos her voicebox is still bruised - just the tears running down her cheeks
So tonight is the first night that - touch wood - she's in her cot since about 9pm. So we'll see how she is the rest of the night.
At least we are weening her off the pain meds now, she's not had ponado for 2 days, and still just the 8 hourly ponstel but that was due at 8pm but I didnt give it and she isnt showing any struggle.
But I had to give her BP meds in a half asleep state at 7pm, but she didnt respond well and after the first bit she threw up - her earlier butternut feed All over her, me and my bed
But I had no choice, the BP meds we have to give x3 a day to regulate her BP again so her body can get used to a lower BP otherwise she'll have a permanent issue.

On our way here DH's cousin's wife and I were talking and she tried figuring out Moomie, but dunno which thread to join. Her baby girl is 13 months old, born Jan 2010. Anyone seen any applicable thread? I'm on my cell, therefore can't really search now. Maybe you've seen something recently.

Babyksmom - Yaaayyyy a toofie - ill put it on the list when were sure its not going back in! I think i felt a tooth on the top right front tooth on Kaelyn and its still very rough there but i cant see a tooth so i am in the same boat... no idea if it is or isnt!

Cols - Thanks! but i think i need more than luck... i think i might just need to start looking for a new Job... don't get me wrong but i have been here and happy for ten years now, but i am not coping with my work load anymore and as one of my colleagues is leaving i just this morning got in to a note on my desk stating i have been lumped with her two biggest clients!

unfortunately i have signed a contract that i will stay a year so i guess i have to wait to December but its just sooo not fair!

BabyK's - that is so nice! I hope John teeths well and isnt in too much pain... I think Evan wont be teething for a long time still... He just likes to tease! his 1 cousin got her teeth after 9 months and my nephew was between 6 - 7 months. Evan's gums looked like my nephews "teething gums" from birth so everyone was convinced he'd teeth early but it never happend. Teething looks so painful! My nephew and niece both got terrible ear infections while teething. My nephew even ended up in hospital with pneumonia this time... (top 2 teeth coming out at once).

KerryA I hope your "mop up" goes well and you get on top of everything...

Hey apparently I only got my first tooth at 9 months so some babies can be longer than the average 4 - 6 months. But guess what? I might be throwing a spanner in the works of the tooth list because John's bottom left tooth has come through! But its still the same level as the gum so I'm not sure if its going to go back down again for a while or grow straight out. I'll keep you girls posted
And Kerry, same thing as with Kaelyn, we haven't used teegel/ teething powders etc for at least 3 weeks and then suddenly today he got all niggly when drinking his afternoon bottle and I couldn't figure it out, until I ran my finger along his gums and felt something graze them.

Jeepers Eileen, you have alot on hey? So nice that you cook for the elderly. I barely have enough time to cook for DH and I (and John of course) But I think its all relative, I always find other things to do intstead of cooking dinner early and then we end up eating late. I need to change that as J gets older so eventually he eats dinner with us at a reasonable hour.

I bought the rice rusks and John loves them - he also gets a snack a day, either the rice rusk or a purity teething biscuit or some rooibos/ apple juice. I've started giving him little things off my plate too, today he got some guacamole and the other day a french fry that I broke up and mashed a bit. Last night he ate tuna for the first time and loved it! And the night before he had fish (hake). I've also given him some chickpeas mashed with some formula milk and gem squash. That's all the protein he's had so far. I saw a pasta bolognese recipe on the Annabel Carmel website I want to make him. And a salmon puree that looks quite nice and easy too. All freezable too.
