Morning Girls!
Yes Kaelyn and i are fine again... oh my word but i don't envy anyone catching that strain of the flue... i thought i was going to freeze to death and hubby's standing there in a t-shirt telling me, well actually its not that cold tonight! (pssibly bcoz i had cranked the heater all the way up)

Now the only problem left to deal with is that my BM supply is very very low... only getting 1 of K's two daily bottles out :-( am considering giving up, but we will see

Kaelyn eats pretty much anything now... she was off her food while sick but last night has a bowl of spagetti bolognaise with me... i cut the spagetti into about 2.5cm lengths and was fascinated by her... if you put just the end of the spagetti into her mouth she does the whole lady & the tramp manouver and gets the rest in. her other favourites are fish fingers (cut into little cubes) and shredded honey & lemon chicken... oh and the mcains frozen veggies - the butternut and sweet potato cubes... dont even cut them up just micrwave them and serve. I ususally prefer to put them in her hand and let her put in in her mouth though because if i give her the bowl she tips it and the dogs tend to go rushing for it and she ends up with none

Kaelyns bedtime is usually 7:30, but lately she has been so tired i let her go to bed early... :-) 6:30 last night... but she is still sleeping to her usual morning time, so its not an issue. Will have to see how she is on the weekend, am praying she sleeps through :-) (and late would be an additional bonus too)

ah well i better get to work. Have an awesome friday girls!

Hey ladies! Sho! Thought my inbox had been spammed with like 30 messages - you guys have been busy! Have no idea where to even start so will just pick what I can to chat about as I have about 3 minutes before I have to go finish supper!

My news: Lily started walking and talking day before yesterday! In her defence now that I know she's staying stuff I realise she's been "talking" for a while! She was getting out of the bath after she'd been in with daddy and I said "say bye bye daddy" so she waved and said "ba ba da da" - THE CUTEST THING EVER! Turns out she says her own versions of Hello, Dogs, Kitty, Psss (to call the kitties), Bye bye, Juice and Sleepy! No mommy though... ;(

Then we were playing with a big physio ball and she loves it and was sitting on my lap and DH had the ball, so she just got up and walked to it... She doesn't even crawl yet! Well she crawls backwards and shuffles on her bum.
So needless to say she's been a very busy little girl!

I don't know if you guys have heard of sleep regression? Basically they say when babies start learning all the big stuff i.e. walking talking etc they can't shut down the learning process when they sleep and it disrupts their sleep. I'm thinking this is what's up with our babies as Lily always slept through the night and was never this niggly even when teething.
Last night felt like the longest night of my life. Ended up bringing her back to our bed very early - 11pm and then she proceeded to toss and turn all night which turned into screaming every time she was in boob position. I normally also employ the boobie tactic to get a little more sleep but I must say it's probably not helping! Now every time she niggles in the slightest I shove a boob in her mouth and it's only exacerbating the wind / discomfort she had! She was also talking in her sleep last night. Too darn cute!

So tonight wish me luck! I'm going to bed early and when she wakes up I am going to persevere in her own room to put her back to sleep in her cot and not feed her!

Regarding food, Lily was eating so well up till about 3 weeks ago. Then she just stopped. Litterally 1 teaspoon of solids all day. Fantastic for my weight loss as she'd only drink milk! Ended up living on cheese coz that's all she would eat. Like 3 little sticks. I decided it must be my cooking so I tried a bunch of different olli, purity, woolies varieties and slowly she's started eating again. Today was probably the most she's eaten in a long time and she had 3 "full" (meaning at least 5 spoons of) meals as well as snacks. She loves finger food and basically anything she can pick up is now finger food. Including but not limited too gogo's off the floor, fur off the floor, soil from the pot plants... you get the point!

She's also mastered her sippy cup so she juices herself at snack times. really cute! I got one (think it's the explora range) that doesn't have a spout. The whole rim is a spout so she doesn't have to suck from a specific area and this works wonders. Took about 2 weeks to get it right but now it's sorted.
As far as feeding herself, it only works with stuff that actually sticks on the spoon - not runny. Because she first has to flick the spoon a bit and then she'll eat it off. It takes a few days of practice but now I load the spoon up with the food, put it in her bowl in front of her. She first sticks her fingers in it to squish it around and then she picks it up and eats it and gives it back to me when she needs to be reloaded! I've given up with puree's except as a desert type thing with fruit. Loves peaches and pears puree. Otherwise she generally eats normal food just cut a bit smaller. Some stuff I leave normal size and she bites it off. But she does have 6 big teeth that help!
She's following more or less the same eating schedule as JeanieK and getting into a much better daytime nap routine. Just have to move the naps forward a bit in the day as she's having too long a nap in the evenings - tonight was over 1.5hours from 4:45 which means she only woke up at 6:30. This leaves very little time for supper, teletubbies & waybulloo (her favourites) play time with daddy, bath time and then milk and bed. She's always half asleep and grumpy by 8pm even if she's not ready for bed.

Anyway, I think that's it for now. Good luck to for hospital next week PM, and for the teething Jeanie, hope you feel better Kerry, and good luck all of us getting petrol and a good nights' sleep!

xxx

Shame Jeanine! I just googled it and it sounds harmless though, what do you think?
John has not had that as of yet but he teethed very badly when his top 2 teeth came through, I think they are quite hectic ones for the babas and they are really big too, at least compared to the bottom teeth. I hope Willem's teeth just come through already! Good luck xx

PS the videos are super cute, I can't believe how well he is walking with the walker!

PM - good luck for Monday, shame hun, I am also feeling a little teary for you, even though it will be absolutely fine, its a tough thing for a mom to go through with her little one. Here's to Iz feeling much better and no more ear infections!

Oh Kerry you poor thing, I can't imagine how you must have been feeling, trying to recuperate yourself and get K better at the same time. How are you both feeling now? Is she back at creche?

Robyn, I know someone who shaved her daughters' hair (but when she was older, about 2 -shame hey?) and apparently it grew back thicker and longer quite quickly. But if I was you I would just wait it out. I had no hair for months when I was a baby and lots of people thought I was a boy but my hair was normal/ thick growing up and is thick now so all good :P
I mash alot of John's food now and only puree a few things. He is quite good at eating chunky stuff though, he chews well mostly or if its too big he spits it out or takes it out with his fingers. He feeds himself snacks and teeth biscuits but is also still good with me feeding him. He feeds himself peas but doesn't swallow them for ages, like a hamster he stores them in his mouth! Funny bug.

Jeanine I hear you - we CANNOT eat in front of J without giving him some, he makes us feel cruel otherwise, even if he has just devoured a huge plate of his own food!
I'm also quite facinated with the 'whole foods' in his poo nappies sometimes ;)

Ladies,

Willem is teething his top front teeth at the moment. The left one has been showing, but not quite through yet.

This morning when I looked, the right hand side is looking blue and swollen!!!!!
I was so worried!
Then after some google, apparently this is normal?

Apparently its called "eruption hematomas" (and the pics look similar to his gums). Have anyone had this before?!?!

I was all for making an appointment at the doc - just wasn't sure if this would be for the paed, or the dentist .
Guess I'll wait and see what it looks like tonight, and then see if i'm taking him tomorrow

Also, my MIL is coming back, will arrive tomorrow morning :cheer: , so can always get a 'second opinion'

Robyn, I am SO NOT shaving Iz head! Good you teaching D early on about brushing her hair, makes chances better she'll actually sit still when it's time for pony's! I bought hairclips with velcro in the beginning.

Iz is still eating puree food. Her snacks is fingerfoods, but she is also more than happy to watch Barney while being fed. She doesn't want anything but puree when she's teething, I figure her gums is too sore then. Iz also doesn't drink tea, juice, water. She just wants her milk. No sippy cup yet, she just plays with it.

J, Willem is just too gorgeous! Iz also wants everything we eat, which is rather difficult as she is not allowed anything with milk. And I try cut on anything with msg's and tartrazine. We used to love going for a drive at the beach having some ice cream.....which is a big no no these days as we can't share with Iz.

Oi, she had such a screaming session just now! Little missy went to sleep yesterday at 5pm and only woke up again this mornig 5:30. She had some milk during the night though.

Hope you guys have a lovely day!

Robyn,

I give Willem a mixture. Some of the foods I just mash, some I puree (eg apple/pear looks ugggh if just mashed :X ), and some - like peas / carrot cubes, ect I leave whole, or mash slightly.

(DH was 'inspecting' his poo nappy the other morning - the whole carrot just facinated him  )

He is still not feeding himself, except for snacks, when they are big enough to hold and bite off.
Nowadays he is more interested to eat off our plates than his own food .

And you are NOT allowed to eat ANYTHING in front of him without sharing! SIL says he literally attacked his cousin (3yrs old) the other day when she ate a biscuit in front of him .
He was screaming and trying to pull her hair  (then again, she is a bit of a brat at the moment, so she was probably waving it in front of him and teasing him)
When we eat, he stands next to the table with his mouth open, begging , and we sommer feed him from our forks.

His schedule is more or less:

2-3am - extra wake-up - boobie (come toothie, come)
wake up (usually 6am) - boobie
07:30 - cereal + tea
11:00 - bottle EBM (150ml-200ml) - sometimes followed by yogurt
13:00 - lunch (veg/carbs/meat) + tea
snack - fruit/yogurt
17:00 - supper (more veg/meat/carbs) +tea
20:00 - boobie

And then whatever we eat, whenever we eat it ;)
