Hi girls

The teeth seem to be the highlight of this week for a lot of us - John has just cut his 3rd and 4th bottom ones over the last day or two - so he now sits at 8 teeth

Shame PM, poor Iz. Sending you lots of love. DH would love to go to the coast for the sardine run one year, he is a fishing addict.

Hey Cols, apparently Lactogen is for hungry babies, why don't you try it? I have just changed to it but mostly because it is cheaper than Nan and seems to be very similar. John has had no problems with it. I've read that our LOs should start dropping milk feeds now but John is still very happy with his 3 bottles. And he eats breakfast, lunch and dinner and has one or two snacks (fruit/ yogurt) a day and maybe some rice cakes or a teeth biscuit. So I'm sure if I'm maybe supposed to increase the quantities of his lunch and dinner? Have you girls done that?

I want to change to cows milk when he is one but I will check with the paed first when we go for his 12 month check-up.

M2M, wow Liam sounds like a real busy body, I can't believe he climbed into the dishwasher! HaHa.

Hey Kerry, so glad that K is enjoying creche. What a load off your mind, well done

Candice, do you normally work half day and/ or is Lily in creche normally? Is she on holiday now and thats why you are trying to come up with games to play? I am struggling with it too, another reason for John to go to creche soon. He needs more stimulation and I don't always have the time or the know-how.
John is a great sleeper at night, he does not often wake up. But he tends to fight his day sleeps but as long as I put him down regularly then he normally has 2 sleeps, sometimes an extra one in the morning if he has woken early for his bottle. I get lots of screaming and fake crying though, its so funny how they think they're conning you when its very clear its not his normal cry

Cols - I am already giving Emily cows milk!! Started this week, she took to it without any problems. I figure 3-4 weeks is not going to make too much of a difference?? I am just adding some vidaylin to her morning bottle for some extra vitamins. I actually find that she is eating MUCH better since we switched to the cows milk, not sure if its co-incidence or not.

PM - Poor IZ Probably the teething that made her sick it really sucks that they keep getting ear infections... Looks like Evan's infections were caused by the tonsils because since the grommets, no ear infections but still tonsilitis - so says the paed. Last night he ate 3 viennas, a few oven bake chips and his fruit and yoghurt and had his full bottle and still woke up at 11:30 and 4 am for milk. He stayed at my sister last night so she was not happy when I picked him up this am... I am starting to think he needs a heavier milk formula...

Who is going to stage 3 / first growth / nido / nespray or cows milk next month?

Evan is saying hello - kind of he-o, dada, mama, ba (dogs, balls, teddies - basically anything he wants). He is ALL OVER THE PLACE. He still leopard crawls but is into everything He also tries, when he is sitting to push off things to stand up - like his wet wipes tub - not very good He walks as well, holding his dad's 1 finger or with me - 2 fingers. He is loving Post Man Pat at the moment. I bought him a box set.

Candice, I am so glad you are feeling better and had a great time with LO When Evan is due for his nap I offer him his bottle, if he doesnt take it I give him his dummy, blanky and pop him in bed. I then walk out. If he doesnt settle after a while I go in sit with him a little and back in bed and I walk out. Same goes for night time. I bath him, give him a bottle while I am dressing him, if he doesnt take it I put him in bed with it. Once the bottle is done, dummy, blanky and bed and I walk out. Usually by the time I have gone to get the monitor he is asleep. He only sleeps in the car if he is actually tired. If not he plays with his toys, stares out the window etc.

When we are at loud or busy places he is usually very good at nodding off in his pram.

Kerry - Wow, K is so ahead - getting molars already! My nephew has just cut his @ 16 months. Spit braais are really nice anyway I am so glad you are happy with creche and are saving time and money And you no longer have to worry about I have a quote for hiring the tables and chairs and crockery. I ordered Evan's cake today from the lady who did my wedding invites. R 450 for a 2 tier carrot cake with a lion figurine on top and delivery I am doing wild animals still because Evan is a Leo = Lion and his bedroom is wild animals.

Kerry, these toofies is horrible little sh#ts!

Iz cut 3...almost 4 in the past 5 days!

So... its not the creche disrupting little K... i thought it couldn't be.... she seems to be teething the bottom back teeth... you only need to see the torrential druel to tell... her gums are terribly swolen... so last night i gave her neurofen before her bath and she started laughing and playing in the bath, then guzzled her bottle down and slept till 12 when i assume the nurofen wore off... poor little baby... then we dummied her three times and when that didn't work i gave her a shot of prodol and she was gone before i could take my finger out her mouth

Those damn teeth huh?

Anyhow TGIF huh? Its so very very cold in the mornings i just want summer to come I am so very very done with winter!

Candice - no its definately not that its a stranger putting her down... Kaelyn loves strangers, i bet you she would happily come to you at nap time! Its that she likes the other kids and wants to play... maybe after a while she will get bored of the other kids, but if i know her well enough she will just get used to having 1 nap a day... at least its then a 2 hour nap... i could go for that. During the day Kaelyn gets niggly at her nap-time so i go sit in her room and breast-feed her and she goes to sleep. Occasionally she does get overstimulated and we end up resorting to either her sleep sense cd really loud or in extreme situations the car, but most of the time shes good about it. But i must say she hates getting into her car seat and if she isn't sleepy she will cry in her car seat... so if we have to go out we leave at ten and she has her ten o clock nap in the car and we come back during her three o clock... makes things easier. then at night when she starts niggling we go for her bath, i go to the bath put the tap on and she crawls to the bathroom when she hears the water running... when she gets out the bath i give her her sleepy while i dress her and she just about goes to sleep while i do that and then i give her her EBM bottle and she eats it, we cuddle a bit and i put her in bed kiss her goodnight wait for her to roll onto her tummy and tuck her in... simple as that

Pinkmommy - shame man so sorry to hear little Iz is sick... hope she gets better soon, shes a strong little girl though i am sure she will be fine!

and yes i am sooo glad the creche is working i cant tell you how good it is to not have someone desperately trying to make me out to be a bad mom.... no more knives in my back! YAAAYYYY!!! Oh and the extra hour we have every afternoon is too great for words! Not to mention its saving us about R300 on petrol!

The birthday parties huh? We are having a rubber ducky theme, and DH's dad is having his spit braai after all. I spose i need to get to the invitations at some point huh?

Hello fwendies!

What a day yesterday turned out to be!

Iz had a fever on Wed night and also yesterday morning, so I made an app to see the paed again yesterday. Hence only my girls got their haircuts....as my appointment was only for later, cause she didn't have 3 consecutive openings. So Iz's paed appointment was smack bang in the middle. Dr send us for chest xrays, and her lungs doesn't look good. The fact that she is smiling and playing saved us from being admitted to hospital. But he put her on 2 very strong antibiotics and Singulair sprinkles over her food, nebulising every 6 hours. If by Monday her chest isn't clear, she gets admitted. Iz's ears also isn't better, so we seeing the ENT next week. As mentioned in the past, looks like we heading the asthma route. Though the diagnoses now is phneumonia. He showed us another patients lungs, which is dark in colour, whereas Iz's lungs has got a lot of white patches.

Dh's dad invited us to go away with them for the weekend to wait for the Sardine run, but we declined, Iz needs her home environment to get better and no going playing outside waiting for fishies!

Luckily my hairdresser managed to squeeze me in today! Bless her little heart.

Charn, Iz also drinks about 2-3 bottles milk, but then at night she sometimes drinks 2. Do you give her tea on water to drink also during the day? Cols, looks like Iz and Evan has the same gameplan!

Candice, so glad you enjoyed playing with Lilly. I must confess, I often leave everything I have to do just to sit and play with Iz. Nothing beats that little giggle!

The birthday parties is coming nearer....yikes! I got as far as the cake and the table, chairs, chaircovers, etc hire. Better get me butt into gear.

Kerry, so happy to hear K loves creche, you've had your fair share of headaches regarding daycare.

Duh! Sorry such an idiot - there your names are clear as day! And such cutie pies on the photo's! Loads to catch up on!

Kerry I'd have to say in my very limited experience the less sleep Lily has and the busier her day, the worse her sleep is at night. I think perhaps she just cried at the creche because it was someone new putting her down / new place etc. Maybe try asking the lady to keep trying the morning nap if her night times don't get any better.

Charnenay - Lily is still breast feeding but also not as much as she used to during the day. The 10am and 2pm feeds seem to be dwindling down to just a few sips so perhaps she's weaning too?

Thanks for the info on games / things to do. Had such a GREAT day with Lily today! I think for the last few days I've started resenting her effect on my life as I just couldn't get anything done and was feeling like she was getting just as annoyed with me! Anyway today we did loads of stuff out and about and when we got home she just rolled around and around on the play mat and then we played such fun games together she was in hysterics! Only problem was then she was a wee bit too stimulated for her afternoon snooze... Anyway it reaffirmed how much I love her and would rather spend the time playing with her than doing anything else! Had more fun with her than I've had with friends for a very long time! Note to self: get funnier friends!

How do you guys get your baba's to sleep during the day? And is it different for night time?
