Ola chikitas!

Sorry I haven't figured out everyone's names yet! Looks like everyone's kalled Karma?

I know how you feel about the accounts / wages thing! I do that too (along with every other aspect of the business) and I haven't done a full month end since Lily was born in September last year! Now the accountant is asking for the books and I've got soooo much to catch up on before the busy season kicks in.

I'm also having the same problem with Lily waking up at night. Was so spoiled as she used to sleep from 5:30pm till 6am every night from 6 weeks till about April. Now she just wont settle till she's in our bed. I get her fast asleep and then try to put her back in her cot and the second her head its the pillow she's up. Hectic! So now because it's so cold and I know what's about to transpire if I try it, I just bring her straight to our bed and that way we all get some decent sleep... All except me! It seems that all 5 cats, 1 husband and 1 baby can successfully worm their way onto my side of the bed and leave me all of 3 centimeters of bed space!

We've just painted and moved around our offices (much to MIL and other older workers dismay I have selected Lime/Mint green for feature walls, with cornflower blue for skirtings and trimmings and a creamy ish colour for ceilings and other walls... was tired of boring!) and today was spent trying to clear out 15 years worth of other peoples junk! MIL did her first real babysitting job and am so proud of her. Actually managed to change nappy! I had really lost faith!
Ah what a sense of freedom not having to go out with LO and a nappy bag, toy bag, lunch bag etc! just got in the car and left!
Made such a difference to my sanity to just have a couple hours to myself -even if it was to do work!

Only problem is when I got home I didn't know what to do with her! What sort of things do you guys do with your LO's? I mean like during play?

Anyhoo- gotta go ... I hear a hot chocolate calling!

Hey strangers :)

I know its been a long time but the last few weeks I havent gotten any time for myself :(

Sorry that I cant comment on what all is happening to everyone, but I can see we're all going through very similar things.

Kaylee is also going through a stage (think it was Janine who said) where she wakes up at night and just wont settle again in our bed or the cot. She'll sleep very happily in my arms and appear fast asleep but second I put her down she starts crying. Thankfully we still use our swing - which is still a lifesaver for a tired / sometimes lazy parent - and she'll eventually go down. But the swing is in the lounge so often hubby lands up sleeping on the couch :(
Up until about Thursday night last week she was also waking up 5 to 6 times a night for no apparent reason, it went on like this for about 3 weeks, so exhausting. She also had a tummy bug 2 weeks ago. It was mild thankfully, never became full blown gastro but at least once a night after a feed she would throw up. So we were changing bedding, clothes etc and landing up with a rather awake baby at 2am.
Touch wood and please let me not jinx this - it seems to be going better now. K's only waking twice a night for milk. She still struggles to settle but that I wake DH for, cos I need sleep as well.

Work has been rather chaotic. I never thought a job in accounts / creditors could be so crazy!
Ive never worked in a manufacturing environment before so the last 6 weeks has been A LOT of learning! But I am getting the hang of it now. Wages is also fairly 'easy' but also easy to stuff it up and there is always so much time pressure to get it done before banks close for internet payments. But irony of all is I am finally getting the hang of wages and as of 1 July it was intergrated with the Jhb office so that part of it I wont be doing anymore lol.
I just had my first month end alone. What a challenge! Last month I was quite sick over month end so I didnt get to see all of it get done. And as of this month they brought forward the deadline to the 3rd of the month - which when the 3rd is a Sunday, only leaves 2 working days to get it done - add wages to the Thursday workload and its just impossible, especially while still learning.
So I did the wages on Wednesday night (have to wait for Wed shift to end) and was at work till 10pm!
Today we were meant to finish the last of the stuff, only to arrive at work to find that the new wage runs we have to hand everything in by 12pm on a Monday! So that was my morning, and then my pc started bombing out and the person who could help fix it was in a long meeting. So I havent been able to finish everything. Hopefully I can do so tomorrow :S

So now you can see why I havent been online much :D
And at night I'm just so pooped - despite the fact that its been almost 2 months, I'm still struggling with the routine of work and getting ready the evening before etc. So sometimes I just laze on the couch all night and then have to rush the next morning. Other nights like tonight I have some energy and do lots of stuff but then cant sleep early.

Kaylee is loving daycare. She still cries in the mornings when I leave but she settles quickly. The older babies (between 14m & 3yrs) all love her and give her loads of attention. It's so close to home and really affordable, and she gets loads of love from the day mom and her family when they get home from work.
I really feel blessed to have found them!

K now has 7 teeth, and the 8th one is pushing through.
She has the fiercest bite! She got hold of my chin on the weekend and bit down very hard. I was in tears!
She started saying baba and dada about a week ago. She also rambles on in her own language, and gets a high pitched squeal.
She is walking along everything and crawls at lightning speed. She isnt brave enough to try standing on her own, but is very independent when leaning up against something, both hands pick things up etc. We bought her a stunning walker from reggies a while back but she's not showing much interest. When she tries she leans on it too much so it moves quickly from underneath her and then she gets nervous.

I know I'm rambling, will finish with this.
We saw the cardiologist last Monday. He didnt do an ECG. But checked the pulses in her groin (this is a good indication if their are any obstructions of bloodflow through the aorta) and her pulses are nice and strong :) We will go back in 3 months time for a sedated ECG - its just impossible otherwise at this age. Not looking forward as I have to administer the sedative :(
K now weighs 7.3 and is 70cm tall. Still a size 2 shoe but not for long. She is average height and below average weight but doc isnt worried. The flu & gastro didnt help.
One of the Jan moms, a friend of mine, baba is 12kgs already. And my other friend who is a march mom, her baba is 7.5kgs already. So weird!!!

Anyway, I am sorry for my horribly selfish post. Now that the mad rush at work is over I'm hoping to get home at a decent time and have some energy to post and read more.

Cant believe the 1st birthday's are coming up in less than a month's time!

B2B & Liani - how are the 2nd pregnancies coming along?

Welcome Candice! I hope you will find yourself at home here. Just slot right in, and jabber along. It's always nice to hear how everyone is doing.
Where are all the other September moms?

Any other pregnancy plans? Cols did you go off the pill now? You are one VERY brave lady!

I dont want to go back onto a strong pill. Not that I've had my period yet! I am on microvil now. (And yes, I have taken tests and definite BFN's :D) but plan on being non actively trying from Jan next year, but if nothing's happened by K's 2nd bday then we can actively try. I am turning 30 this year, and dont want to leave it too late, esp if we want to think of a 3rd sometime.
But desperately need to lose 25kgs before I can think of it!!! One would think that would be motivation enough to get exercising and dieting hey! But alas I'm still chowing down (blame it on breastfeeding) and still 10kgs over pre pregnancy weight :(

Anyway I better get to bed.
Love to all xx

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Hi all!

Welcome Candice! Kick out those high heels and get comfy, here we can sit and chat for hours! ;)

Cols, shame hun! Hope he feels better soon soon.

Kerry, hope K has a lovely first day at school!

Iz cut her left front tooth over the weekend. Looks like we have 2 more on the way. That makes our total number of toofies 3!

Iz is also outgrown her 6-12mnth winter clothes but the only problem is, our shop already started stocking summer clothes!!!!! Even in Durban and Pietermaritzburg we had a look over the weekend.

I did something rather impulsive this morning.....I applied for a job. DH isn't to keen about the idea. But it seems like something up my ally. I'm not looking for a job yet actually, but there is days when I miss working.

Iz is getting so clever now! Plays the cutest games with her dad!

All my chickens are back now, Grace enjoyed her camp. But hells bells can they fight!!!!! Over flipping everything!!!!!

Iz is SOOOO not getting a younger brother or sister! Hehehehe!

It's a pain because now i need to go buy more winter clothes and we only have 2 months left. Oh well :)

Today is her first day at creche :-) my parents dropped her off this morning as they only open at 6:30 and we leave for work at 6. Apparently she was playing nicely with the other kids when they left

:-)

Cant you maybe find a creche near your office then? That way you will b through all the traffic already when you drop her off?

Welcome Candice!!!

Janine - sorry you are missing the firsts, but never mind, the first time you see it will be every bit as special for you, I promise

Kaelyn also has a walker like the one you describe and races from one side of the lounge to the other with it... she also tests everything now... anything she can climb up on and push along with her becomes a completely new walker for her... the washtup, filled with wet washing was a treat the other night... i was hanging the stuff in it one minute and then... well the next thing she had it on the other side of the room...

RobynC - Kaelyn also wears a size three now... but she fits into her 6-12 month clothes nicely... it just irks me that her feet grow out of the babygrows before anything else...

TGIF! shema poor DH is off today, but he is working the weekend... :-( and then K starts with the Creche on monday... not that you could really call it a creche... 9 kids... I think the other kids will be good for her!

ah well, gotta run
